Going to the funeral of someone you don't know?

I have. Funerals are in support of the living loved ones. My mom always said " funerals are for the living not the dead".

Many - wakes and funerals are for the living, not the dead, so I've been to many funerals for the relatives of friends of mine, even if I never met that relative.

2 co-workers Parents died, I knew one Parent but not the other, and I went to support both co-workers. The first one was a full house, long and very uptight, the second one was for my BF Mother who loved to gamble, in fact, she was on her way to Las vegas when she died, and while it was sad, we knew she was in heaven gambling away. The minister even mentoned this at her service.
