This trip was planned REALLY at the last minute. Our next trip was not going to be for another year, probably at the Polynesian or the AKL, which I have read every thread on in CREATION. Well, this week I just decided I had to get out of Brooklyn for a short Florida getaway! Just me and my five-year old daughter-- girls trip! The goal is to do it cheap cheap-- while staying on-site. The codes had already expired, thought I would have to pay rack rate for the All Stars but surprise! They offered me and upsell to any moderate (except Coronado) for just $119! Well, I took it, and on a whim chose POFQ. Didn't want CBR, knew I wanted one of the PO resorts-- and decided the smaller FQ appealed, even though there is no restaurant (we'll eat at the parks and elsewhere anyway.) Tell me everything I need to know about this resort! Tips for a mother and her girl? I'm very excited!

We are staying four nights (our last night we are going to Priceline an airport hotel-- our flight out the next day is at 6am.)

POFQ is a lovely resort! We were there for a week in early Jan. It is rather small, so wherever your room is, you won't be far from the food court, bus stop, etc. I found the bus service to be excellent, we never waited more than 15 min for a bus. If you walk over to POR they have carriage rides. If you want to swim they a fabulously themed pool (there is also a hot tub).
I think you will really love POFQ- enjoy your vacation!

The pool is neat there for kids. Sea Serpent pool.

There is a food court there. Used to be great, now not as great but still good. Rooms are nice.

If you can imagine a cleaned up New Orleans without the strippers and drunks - only the architecture and gardens. Really very pretty with all the black grillwork.

There is only one bus stop and it's very convenient to most of the buildings. We stayed in Bldg 5 with a water view. I wouldn't have wasted the money on a waterview, but my husband insisted. The garden views are great. Bldg 5 was close to the pool and main entrance. Not that far of a walk over to POR from Bldg 5 - only a few minutes.

I hope I'm allowed to post this link here.

This page tells about POFQ, but "click around" for lots of info on everything else WDW.

There is a food court. I stayed there over 10 years ago before it merged with Dixie LAndings, so I don't remember details, but the pool was great with a "sea serperent" slide ( you slide down his tounge) and in the night we took the boat to Pleasure Island, but It's all connected with the shops and restaurants of Downtown Disney, so that would be fun for you!!

Have fun!!

Spur of the moment trips are great... you just go and don't obsessively plan for months lol

Have a great time

Exactly! I can POWER PLAN.

My daughter is too funny, though. She had been thinking our trip wasn't for another year. I went to her room tonight to tell her about the trip, and showed her how it was only 19 days away. "See!" I said. "Less that three weeks!"

She got very excited, and then said, "But Mom-- I want to go SOONER!"

Ha. Me too, Kid.

Thanks for the maps and info! I think I'm not going to bother with room requests. This resort is so nice and compact, I wouldn't be too far away from anything. And maybe if I don't make any specific room requests, I'll get lucky and get an upgrade! Never know.:D

We had a wonderful time at this resort in October. My daughter absolutely LOVED the Serpent Slide. There is a nice playground, as well. We liked taking the boat to PO-R and visiting the Butterfly Garden behind the Arcadia House.

We really like the food court, and didn't miss having a full service restaurant, at all. The food at the food court was good, and there was a good selection. The also show Disney Movies while you eat.

We liked the fact that everything was within a short walking distance, and that there was only one bus stop. You will be the 1st stop both going to the parks and coming back, which we found to be very nice with a tired kid, not to mention tired adults.

PO-FQ is definitely our favorite moderate!
