I'm currently recovering from my 2nd back surgery in 3weeks. DH knows how hard it's been on me to be away from DD (3 1/2) and said he would understand if I wanted to take a few days to take her somewhere "just the two of us". What better place to go than WDW!!! I had been thinking of going in Oct for my birthday anyway and as something to look forward to during my recovery. Now that I've gotten the green light to go, I need some advise on traveling solo with a child. DD will be 4 by then, so I know we need to go at her pace. What's the weather like in Oct? I'm thinking about the week of 10/10. I know Colombus Day will be busy, but what about crowds the rest of the week. Does MNSSHP happen this early in the month? Any advise would be appreciated.

TIA,
Laurie

I took a solo trip with my then 4-year old two years ago and it was the best trip!! We have SO many memories from that special trip together. I found it to be very manageable - I was a little concerned at first how I was going to do it alone without DH and the older boys. You will have SO MUCH FUN! October weather is beautiful - sunny & still warm. I can't help much with crowds since we've never been during the holiday.

I just wanted to write and encourage you to take this trip with your DD. You will not regret it!!

I took a trip in Feb with my almost 3yo DD. It was very magical and we made so many fun memories. ITs a great age they are at right now.. they are big enough to walk and get themselves in strollers etc. I'd definetly enjoy the transpo disney offeres. For me it made a relaxing end to the day.

You will definetly take it slow, enjoy it at her pace and just do what she wants. It bummed me out when my DD was all the sudden terrified of the dark (indoor) rides, but oh well. we just enjoyed her favorites that much more.

Have fun and you will really truly have a wonderful time.

We (me and my DD 5) just returned from our mommy and me trip 3 weeks ago. We had soooo much fun. I opted not to take a stroller but she wanted one some days. We went back to the hotel to swim every day for 1-2 hours. We went at her pace and I saw more of the beautiful side of Disney. The flowers the people ect. We even did manicures at the Grand Floridian Spa. She was so grown up:D
we stayed at the GF and were upgraded to a lagoon view of the castle, Daddy sent his princess a new crown to wear with her Cinderalla dress It was true magic.
The best part was the memories we made and how she tells everyone about the trip
Have fun and enjoy how much longer will our duaghters want to be with just us?

My family went last October. I highly recommend that time of the year. The halloween party is fun. My son enjoyed all the costumes and getting candy:)!
I received a travel gift certificate and decided to take another quick trip to WDW - just my son and I. He is really looking forward to it, me too. We are going in May. If you PM me, then I will be sure to contact you after the trip and tell you how it went ... pass on suggestions. I decided we would stay at All Star Movies because he is a big Buzz Lightyear Fan. I'd rather stay at the Poly! Anyway, I expect we will be taking it at a slower pace ... and I bet I will get to see parts of WDW I never took the time to slow down and enjoy.

I took my son last year for MNSSHP by myself. He was almost 4. We had so much fun and I will never forget it. It was one of the best trips I ever had to WDW. You will have a great time!

I went solo with a 14month old and had such a good time I'm heading back again when she;s 16 months.I just posted my trip report. go at your child's pace and you'll have a blast.

I did this last May with my DD then 3.5 just 4 days she and I. We did enjoy the pool everyday for about 2 hours and we did it her way if she didn't want to do it we didn't. that meant no fireworks no thrill rides but for me the thrill was just being with her for those days. Besides I knew we'd be going back so I could catch the mountains the next trip..SOmething DD LOVED was the face painting that they were doing in Toontown in front of the Barnstormer I think it cost like 7.00 for the princess look she'd chosen but the picture I got as she saw herself for the first time WOW!!!We have also done the MNSSHP we had to drag her outta there I'd definatly do that with DD again it's such a fun time for everybody. We made special memories and she still talks about it.Treasure your time together and have a great time!!!!princess:
