I'm not much of one to go out unless I'm going somewhere to see one of my bands play. When I go see one of my bands I'm always with friends.

Well I have been invited to check out a new (to me anyway) band tomorrow night and no one can go with me. Part of that is that most of my music buddies live in other cities.

I have decided to be brave and go by myself. This is a MAJOR step in life for me.

I've listened to this band on-line a little and I know their show will be very entertaining. They have a different sound and it seems very fun.

The singer said I can hang out with them all night so I don't feel alone. So we shall see how it goes. I'm going to take some pictures of them so hopefully I will get some good ones they can use in their promotions.

What do you do when you go out alone? How do you keep from looking like a big ole idiot?

You will not look like a big ole idiot. I am happy to hear you are going to do it, that is awesome. Go, have a good time! Let us know how it went!

Hey, around our neck of the woods it's pretty friendly. You'll probably meet a ton of people, maybe some worth seeing again.

I just moved back down the mountain so...

Sunday night this band is playing Club Hairspray. Now I wouldn't have a problem in the world going there alone but I know I have several friends in Asheville who would have gone there with me.

Well I had a great time! I wasn't in there maybe 5 minutes before Shayne (the singer of the band I went to see) came up to me and invited me over to their table. I had a great time chatting with them all and meeting the other band they were traveling with.

Tomorrow night I'm going to try to go see them again.

And I think I got hit on tonight too.

I don't go out alone, because I'm too shy. Heck, I can't even stand the idea of eating in a fast-food restaurant alone. Now, I used to keep from feeling like a big ole idiot by drinking a lot when I did go out. That way, I didn't care how I acted, and if I was a big ole idiot, I could blame it on the alchohol. However, I very very very much do NOT recommend this.

Now, GOOD FOR YOU! Glad to hear you went, and had such a good time, AND plan to do it again! I envy you for your courage. :)

Aw, I'm glad you had a great time...and {giggle} that you got hit on!

You know, I'll bet it gets easier and more comfortable ever time you step out on that limb, kwim?

Good for you!

I go out alone sometimes. It depends on where I'm going and why. but I'm very outgoing and not at all shy, so I look at it as an opportunity to make new friends.

I go out alone alot and I have NEVER FELT LIKE A BIG OLE IDIOT! You have to learn to be comfortable with yourself since one tends to spend alot of time with oneself........Next time I am alone I will have to remember not to feel like an idiot and have myself a good ole time.

Last month I went to Florida on a business trip with my husband. He had to fly down before me, so I flew down by myself. I found flying alone wasn't too bad, and I actually didn't mind it.

In Florida, my husband had to spend his days at a business convention, so I did things during the day by myself. One of my first days there, I went to Sea World all by myself, and I have to admit it took some getting used to. Everywhere I went I felt like people were looking at me and wondering why I had nobody with me. Of course, it was all in my head, because I'm sure nobody was thinking about me nearly as much as I was thinking about them thinking about me. KWIM? haha!

The next day, I spent at Downtown Disney, again all alone, but I had a great time. I was less self-conscious and enjoyed shopping without distractions or having to worry about being on someone else's time schedule.

I'm glad to hear you had a good time and I bet every time you decide to go somewhere alone, you'll find it gets easier. :goodvibes

Go, have fun, and if need be ask a bouncer to walk you to your car.

Thanks everyone!

Floydian - I'm super shy but over the past two years I have begun coming out of my shell little by little. It is worth it to enjoy life some too.

How do I know this guy really was hitting on me? I don't know about this kind of stuff! What am I supposed to say? I think I was too stunned to say much of anything.

malibuconlee - I had to go out to my car for someone at one point and had a girl from the band go with me.

Luckily I was able to park right at the front door and under a big ole light.
