Going next week...still confused

Can someone please explain the virtual line for me (n00b). How can it be predicted when they drop? How do you get them? It looks like it doesn't save a ton of waiting time from the thread here...

Haven't seen anyone answer this. Virtual queue opens slots 15 minutes before open, 11am, 2pm, 4pm.

You get them on the app by going to the ride and then there is the option for select virtual queue times.

Experienced it today. I'd recommend rope dropping (getting there at least 30 mins prior to opening) and quickly making your way to the ride. It was a walk on for me and by the time I was off the ride there was a substantial line already formed. The virtual queue was a mess all day, didn't see it operating at any of the given times (tried a few).

Thank You. So the follow up is how long the real line will be at the return time. For that matter, how are return times distributed? Are they spread out like at some other theme parks based on when you tap in to the queue? Is it like a refresh on your phone sort of thing?

Thank you- We are practiced and good at this in other places. Probably the most concise and reliable advice :)

You can have one VL for each ride. They don't worry so much about times on other rides. There are some youtube videos of people trying to get Hagrid's VL's. When you see that they drop the VL's, you click, then they offer you a time window. Click quickly, select the # of people in your group, and you might be told that that time isn't available. Basically, seeing a time window doesn't mean they are holding the time window for you.
Everyone in your group can try for a VL. Although once someone gets a VL for your group, everyone else should stop trying. The time windows offered are close together and the lines an hour+, so you won't have time to use more than one.
