Advice and comments welcome!
We've booked to go in October next year, but after thinking about it, and the fact that my son will have exams early November, I am wondering about going around the 27th Decmber for 2 weeks instead.
It would still mean the kids miss the first week of school in Jan, but I don't know that they'd miss as much.
I have phoned ba to ask about changing, and it wouldnt be a problem, but I thought I'd run it past all you guys for your thoughts and maybe hear about your experiences at WDW in new year.

We have been a few times but the 1st 2 weeks in December it's our favourite time. I think it may be slighly busy between Christmas and new year but should be pretty quiet after that.

The weather is really nice this time of year too although can be slighly in the evenings.

the christmas-new year period is the busiest in WDW from what i understand - the highest crowd levels of the year....but once january begins, it drops...
there are crowd level charts somewhere - maybe at www.allears.net?
or at askdaisy?

If we do book late December, we will be staying in a Villa. What's our chances of the parks reaching capacity and us not getting in if we're not there very early?
Ha this ever happened to anyone?

Hi Lisa,

That's a definite possibility, especially at MK. I was lucky and stayed onsite but over the Xmas / NYE period in 2004/5 people were not being admitted at certain times. The parks were extremely full too so we didn't get much done, but we were happy to soak up the atmosphere - we had arrived on Dec 9th so had a couple of quiet weeks before the crowds moved in. There were massive queues just to get in the MK parking lot.

You should have the parks to yourselves practically for your second week though.

WDW is so beautiful during the xmas season you will forget about the crowds.
It shouldn't be missed if possible. I was there last year and I'm going back this year.

Enjoy!

We were ther in December & stayed off site. Lucky for us we went for 3 weeks so didn't have to go in Chrisrtmas Day & Boxing day. However, the parks did reach full capacity - MK is always the 1st one. We went to AK one day & the queue for the safari ride was 3 hours:scared1: They were stopping people getting in line as they wouldn't be able to fit everybody in before the park closed. All the fast passes for the big rides had gone by midday. So if you are going to go - get in early!!

We were happy just to wander round & go see a few shows.
