I am thrilled to be going home to BWV tomorrow. I am not thrilled that I feel flu-like symptoms. I feel like doing nothing, but laying around. I swore I would never take pepto bismol, but have almost finished an entire bottle since yesterday.

Has anyone used health or medical facilities while in WDW? Just in case. Where are they? Are there any pharmacies that deliver?

There's an urgent care center not too far from WDW that I visited in August 2000. It's just around the corner from the Crossroads Plaza (where Gooding's is located). There's a pharmacy there as well. I don't have the info at my fingertips, but I was able to find out about the urgent care center from the front desk at the Boardwalk. The urgent care center will send a van to pick you up if you need a ride to and from. Hope you feel better.

There are several local clinics which can provide healthcare.

Main Street Physicians (407 396 1195) and Centra Care Walk-in Medical Care (407 239-6463) will both provide transportation for WDW guests. Doctors on Call (407 492-9595) and Main Street Physicians will provide 24 hour house calls for WDW resort guests.

ER services are available at Sand Lake Hospital (407 351-8500) and Celebration Health (407 303-4000).

Gooding's (407 827-1207) can fill prescriptions and Turner Drugs (407 828-8125) will deliver prescriptions to WDW resorts.

Hope you feel better!!

We used Centra Care Walk-In Medical Care on our trip in November. It worked out very well for us. My son became ill with a very bad cold.. fever, chills, congestion etc.. Central Care Walk- In Service picked us up at the the lobby of VWL (the van was also carrying 2 other sick children from various WDW resorts). It took only minutes for them to pick us up. The staff was very kind and the facility was nice. It took about 1/2 hour to see the doctor. We were then taken by van to an Eckerd Drug Store. Centra Care faxed over the prescriptions first. The cost was $113.00 for the visit. I believe you can submit the cost to your insurance co. There was no cost for the van service. We gave the driver a tip. Hope you are feeling better soon!

I was in the ER at Celebration Hospital last Feb. It is a new 1st class hospital. We did have some problems with their billing, but the ER staff was wonderful.

We were at the urgent care facility near crossroads in Nov. Went well but took quite a while.

If, God forbid, you have an urgent emergency you should first call 911. You can then also call the front desk. They told us that they like to help whenever possible even to drive to the ER since they realize it's hard being in unfamiliar surroundings in an emergency. The parks also have very good First Aid Stations and will get the ball rolling if you need additional (hospital) care. I second the quality of Celebration Health (although they could sometimes use more staff.)

The walk-in centers suggested are good if you have symptoms that would send you to the doctor at home.

Hopefully, a little bit of FL sunshine will knock it out within the first few hours. Have a good trip!

I can second the recommendation for Sand Lake Hospital Emergency Department. They are located right off I-4 at the SeaWorld exit. Used them last August at 3 in the morning. Very professional and caring, fast registration system and even helped me straighten out the billing so my HMO would pay after the fact. And as a former ER nurse, I will say I'm picky, picky

Take care of yourself and enjoy your trip. Amy

I used the Centra Care Walk-In Medical Care last Tuesday while we were staying at BWV. It is shown on the WDW transportation map. The good news for me was they are a 'preferred provider' for our medical insurance - the visit was only $15. Now, if only the Rx had also been covered. :(

Three years ago I also had an opportunity to 'visit' them when DH had a different employer (therefore different insurance). Then we had to pay in full for the visit and then get reimbursement from our carrier.

I agree about the Celebration Hospital. I am an RN and I thought they were absolutely wonderful when my DD got dehydrated last year. She was there for about 13 hours and then released. The staff was very caring and compassionate and from what I saw well educated and experienced!! We also had a small problem with billing but the bottom line was my DD was fine and we were able to fly back home that evening (as scheduled!!).

Wishing you the best.

I was at Celebtation Hospital ER a few years ago. I would not recommend my worst enemy to go there. My husband is a surgeon and we both agreed it was the worst experience we both ever had. I would recommend Sand Lake Hospital.

I had to take My Daughter to the Sand Lake Hospital, because the walkin clinic Dr. was basically incompetent and didn't have any patients to help children. He just told us to go to the emergency room because my daughter required stitches and he just didn't feel like doing it. The Sand Lake Hospital was excellent and the ER doc was fantastic with kids, especially terrified 4 year olds that need stitches in the chin.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I brought so much medication with me, but it really didn't work. I finally felt better after day four. I was praying for air-sickness bags on some of the rides. Since this was the first time dd was tall enough to ride the rides, I wanted to go with her, and also didn't want her to know I was so sick. She gets very upset, and I didn't want to taint her experience.

I would like to save this thread in case I need this in the future. Thank you.

Just wanted to give three thumbs up for Celebration Hospital!!

My DS had to go there in September with a terrible virus, and I had to go there two weeks ago for left arm paralysis...

In both situations the staff was really excellent & caring... I had to have a cat scan while there, and the XRay/Cat scan area was really cool LOL... it was themed to life on a beach, right down to the aromatherapy machine which made the whole place smell like coconut!! It was really cool LOL... The hospital is new and the staff smiles and is FRIENDLY... they did offer to admit me to run further tests, but they ruled out the most obvious major problem & I went on my happy way...

I have gotten plenty of care in plenty of hospitals & Celebration health gets highest marks from me!
