Going from Atkins to WW?

I'm on Atkins now. My Mom is doing the WW fastrack, high protein option? She is doing fab!
If I switch over do you think my body will go in shock? Like I'll gain back what I've lost on Atkins so far since I won't be in ketosis anymore and would be eating more carbs?
Will I get the shakes like I have before on other diets?

Any thoughts?

It just seems I have been doing Atkins very strictly for three weeks now and have walked a ton and it is just not coming off as fast as before. (7 pounds only)

I admit that I really know very little about Atkins....I do LOVE the WW program though....I personally need the flexibility it offers...and I know that there is no way I could realistically cut carbs to the extent that Atkins promotes, especially if I had to make that a permanent life style!

SO....while I'm not answering your question, I will offer you best of luck on your new eating plan....and I'd suggest a s-l-o-w reintroduction of high quality carbs into your meals.

And remember.....1-2 pounds per week is a safe, effective way to lose weight. You want to make sure that you are losing the dreaded fat, not simply water or even worse, lean muscle tissue! 7 pounds in 3 weeks is still alot! (just picture 28 sticks of butter that are no longer stuck to your hips! )

I think that finding the program that is best for you is most of the battle in this weight loss fight.

Give it a try. You never know, WW could be the right plan for you.

You have lost more than 2 pounds a week, though, and that is steady progress.

Thanks. I think I'm gonna stick with Atkins one more week, then if it isn't going well, I'll give WW a try.

I agree with Katholyn, do what's good for you.

Do you like the plan? Can you live with it? 7 pounds is a good amount to lose in the time you did and changing the plan may result in the same kind of losses, 1 to 2 pounds a week is VERY normal on any plan.

I like both plans and have DONE both, it's a personal choice as to what works for you.

I'm a carb addict for sure. My worry if I change plans is I'll have the shakes really bad and cave in and eat something sweet. I just don't get this with Atkins, but have on other diets.

Has anyone had a problem with WW and blood sugar?

Thanks again!

My MIL is diabetic and WW caused her blood sugar to stay very high. She went on Atkins and has not had to take insulin since her second day of induction. That was over a year ago.

Do you have a problem with low blood sugar?

I have low blood sugar as well and SB has worked wonders for me. I feel alot better and it is 2 weeks today that I am on it. I have lost 7.5 pounds so far so I can feel your frustration with not losing as quick as some others do. However you are doing great. Don't give up. Are you measuring? I have been taking my measurements and although I haven't really lost anything in the last few days, inches are going away.

Shan - I have a big problem with low blood sugar and have done WW before. It's worked for me in the past but it was always a problem with shakiness and bigtime hunger. I certainly don't have that problem with Atkins but I'm also losing slowly. I do think 7 lbs. in 3 weeks is great and just imagine what you might weigh if you'd done nothing. I know slow and steady is hard, especially when others make it sound so easy. Now that you know Atkins, maybe you can see if it fits into WW point system (if you need point calculations, let me know). I haven't done that yet but I'm guessing that a typical Atkins day is too many points, but I could be wrong. The advantage WW has is the support of the weekly weigh-ins, but you pay for that. Good luck with your decision.
