Going from 2 cats to 3?

How is it different when you go from 2 cats to 3 cats. I understand more pooper scooping, more food, additional vet vacinations..

What am I missing.

He is a ferral kitty siamese mix, about 8-10 weeks old. I go visit him today..

My household actually became more calmer, since my Ragdoll and Tortie did not get along. At all. I brought my Calico in, and suddenly my Ragdoll had someone to pal around with, and my Tortie was happy to be left alone. There is more ( way more ) scooping, food and the such but I take mine to the vaccination clinics at Petsmart so those costs are low. They do go about once a year, to every other year for bloodwork, and it does cost more now for flea/tick/heartworm med's, but it worked for me Usually the younger the kitten the easier it is to introduce them into the house.

The worst thing is having to deflect the strange looks you get from people when you say there are 3 of them.

We have 2 cats, they are brother and sister and are 11 years old. Last year my sister's cat had kittens and we tried to bring one into the house. They wanted nothing to do with the kitten and the brother tried to bite the kitten several times. We decided not to mess with what we had and gave the kitten back to my sister. But man was he cute!

I'm sure that it is not much different having 3 instead of 2. Probably just cost wise... Good luck!!!!! your new addition sounds cute

When we went from 2 to 3, it seemed like suddenly we were a houseful of cats. Everywhere you look, there's a cat. I love cats though so I was happy. As long as they all get along with each other, you'll be great.

I also found that when we added a third pet (this time a puppy), I suddenly started calling all of them by each others names. I call it Grandma syndrome because my grandmother had so many grand kids that she always came out with a name or two or three before she hit on the right one!

Well, I brought my little buddy home yesturday. He is hanging out in the master bath. He definetly will take a little bit of work. He's a little frightened of people. He hisses when you reach for him in his cage, and then starts to purr up a storms, and sits there while you pet him. When sitting on the floor, making a little tunnel out of my legs, he plays with shoes strings and a mouse. The batheroom is a little large for him, but using my legs to mark out a small section he does well.

My other kitties are 3.5 and 1.5yrs old, so they are youngsters. Scooby came in, i didn't shut the door all the way, and he was happily sniffing everything in sight. No bad reaction at all!!

We are thinking Odie is going to be his name!!

We went from 2 to 3 this past spring, my DH had to have his "own" cat, it took a good month for them to all get along but in the end it was worth it. We added another litter box and when I get double coupons I spend it on their food at the grocery store so it hasn't been that big of an expense. "Biggie" is definately the dominate male so our poor "Mickey" takes a back seat to him now and their is the occasional rumble but as long as our diva remains queen all is right with their world.

I JUST did this last week. It hasnt been bad. I scoop twice a day now. I do have to fill the food bowl more but other than that, Its been good. The hissing is annoying and my cat came pre trained (walks on counters and tables, thinks shes "all that"). Just alot of hissing lately, its been pretty good. In face last night I had all the cats in the bathrrom together (tiny bathroom) and no one got mad!

We made the jump to 3 last November.... I LOVE our newest cat (and I love our older 2), but the oldest cat (12 yrs old) still HATES the newest addition even 11 months after she's been here. She can't stand to be in the same room-hisses and growls at her. Occasionally, if the youngest is using ONE of the 2 litter boxes, the oldest will go and poop on my bed! Yes! MY BED!!!! Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!! She never did this when we brought home our middle cat 4 yrs ago. That "middle" cat is 4 and is just neutral with both "sisters"....I find that the "scooping" almost seems to have quadrupled Yes, the vet bills went up.... cat food bills went up..... Hubby said that when one of them passes on, we will not get a third again

Since your other 2 are younger cats, I don't think you'd have the issue we have with our "senior" cat.....Wishing you an easy transition

My husband had a cat before we got invloved... She is now at least 19 years old, and I had a cat as well. A few years ago we were worried that the older cat was going to pass away leaving our younger cat all alone, so we got a third one. I am now under the belief that our older cat will live forever..... We love all our cats, but we will NEVER have three cats again.

We went from two to three without much fuss. I just added an extra food bowl and a new litter tray. The vaccinations are just a little more each year but not a big deal. The three definitely have fun together, although it took a few months for them to really bond.

Our biggest added expense was the fact that the new one (Cheeto) likes to sit on counter tops and push things off. Yesterday he pushed off our Waterford Crystal bowl.

We went from two to three with no problem, then to five, then to 7, then to 9, one died (FIP), back to 8, and now up to 10!

We have 7 litter boxes and scoop them 3 times a day. (it's just routine after awhile and you don't even notice the extra work ) There are toys and little furry mice all over the house, we have 6 posts for scratching, 5 of them sleep with us and all are healthy, so no vet bills right now. They range from 9 mos to 5 years.

During the day while they are sleeping you would never know we had that many cats as they spread themselves all over the house. Feeding time is when you KNOW there are a lot! (and treat time)

It's amazing how fun they are and we love them to death! Yes we spend a fortune on wet food and litter, but totally worth it!

(and when we go on vacation I pay my sister to take care of them or if my DS25 stays home, he will take care of them) They are such stress reducers!

No...they are little toy mice. No separate heads! They carry them in their mouths doing these weird cries and then they bring them and drop them in front of me. Then I pick them up and throw them and they'll fetch them and bring them back. We have at least 30 of them everywhere!

really, after the initial adjustment period, going to 3 cats wasn't so different than 2. And then 4 months later, we stumbled into a FOURTH cat. For 6 mos or so, they were really rarely in the same room so it didn't seem like we really had 4 but then after a while, they sometimes started all hanging in the living room sometimes. So NOW it seems a bit much in our tiny house!! AND THEN, last weeked, dd16 brought home a kitten she found in the street. We KNEW we couldn't keep it, but the shelters all had no cages available. We took it to vet, bathed it, dewormed it, put Revolution on it, and it lived in our only bathroom (that 6 people are in and out of) for 5 days. Last night, we found someone who rescues cats and she took the kitten.

LORDY, do I miss that little baby. NOW, I tell myself that FIVE cats isn't so different than 4, haha.

Seriously, 3 is not a big leap from 2. 4 might be pushing it, at least from a "socially acceptable" standpoint. We get funny looks, so we avoid mentioning we have FOUR cats.

Im talking plastic mice. Mine are the tryangle sorta shapped ones and he awalys rips the white part (head) off. Mine plays fetch too. Yesterday it was our spider toy webby, Unfortanlly he landed in the water dish and had to go out to dry
