Going during the middle of August-questions?

We will be going from August 13 through the 18th. Should I stay on-site? If the crowds are fairly heavy at the time, I'm thinking I will stay on-site because of the front of the line access, I was thinking we could get to the parks early, do the parks until noon or so, go back to the hotel rest and/or swim and then go back to the parks in the evening. What time does the parks ususally stay open at night during those dates?

The parks are open from 9A-10P for those dates. After the 18th most areas are back to school and park hours decrease, progressively closing earlier. Staying on-site adds so much to the vacation. If possible do it.

jewell, stay on site and be immersed with all the mummy dust.

you can get all the rides and attractions/shows done easliy and still be able time to enjoy the hotel you are staying at.

rates should be decent when you plan to go.

Jewell, we are going the week after you and were able to get RPR at $167+tax=188 (AAA discount). So worth it for FOTL!!!

A new law was passed by the governor of the state (Jeb Bush) saying that school must not start before August 20th. In the past the school boards kept moving the date back earlier and earlier. He finally stepped in and said no more.

July and early August are the busy summer months. The arrive early, rest in the afternoon, come back at night thing works, but it will be packed for the dates you've picked. Stay onsite, or move the trip to the next week if you can.

For the last week of August and the entire month of September, the place is a ghost town in the mornings. The parks close earlier, and there is no fireworks show after August 20th. That's the only trade off with going at that time.
