So we just returned a few weeks ago from Disney but it was so crowded we missed so much...so we are thinking of going down for a few nights at the end of January (24th-28th). We normally stay in a deluxe or moderate but thinking of doing a value this time since we will be spending so much time at the parks. I have never been in Jan so just wondering if its a good time to go?

Been the last two years end of January at POP, have reservations now and will be cancelling them. I just can't do third year in a row with the big tour groups of SA teenagers. They are awful to be in hotel with. They are at all the values and heard a few at moderates. We guesstimated by their private buses leaving for parties close to 1000 with us. We couldn't use pool, food court and often had to wait for more buses. Even tried to eat at AoA but they had that food court as well. We might keep our trip but stay off property.

At parks you are able to just go the other way if you see them coming, they keep them together in fairly large groups. Parks were very do able. Something to consider when selecting your resort. They are there most of January and into February. I have another trip booked end of Feb and hoping for the best.

Oh dear. But lol, I can't do anything about it now and budget doesn't run to the higher end hotels.

Assume there is someone to complain to if the behaviour is unacceptable?

Disney doesn't care if their behavior is unacceptable to other guests, unfortunately. SA groups are a huge cash cow for Disney.

At POP you can try to book preferred or request 50's. It seemed they put them all in the 80's and 90's each year. When I arrived second year to same room location I requested that I be moved as I didn't want that issue again. They refused. Unpleasant supervisor. First year I had security come so many times and I ended up talking direct to kids and their chaperone. Final convo was I would no longer request security but would call the police. They settled some then. Last time I personally talked to the security that was hired extra. Only improvement was noise stopped by 1 am as opposed to much later. But I still could not use the amenities.

If you do have problems do not call - your call goes to a center not even on property. Walk down to the front desk and ask for a manager.

Thanks for the above info. I think they'll get the same amount of chances that I give my own kids, one warning then consequences ;) Going direct to the police if Disney doesn't do anything sounds like the way to go, or at least threatening them with it.

I guess my main concern is of they do any thing dangerous which might impact on my (and other kids) there. I can deal with a bit of noise but payback is a ***** - my kids are very early risers ;)

I was at POP the last week of January this year and hardly noticed those groups...just a few small, well behaved ones. We were in the 70s section.

Oh the Cheerleaders. It was never too horrible for us if we stayed at POP, but when we stayed at All- Star they were everywhere.
We now stay at moderates or more, not because of that. We just like the extra room etc.
But oh the cheerleaders...

We were at POP for the last weekend in Jan 2014. No cheerleaders, but we did see the SA tour groups. No matter what time of the day there seemed to be groups of them roaming around the resort. They were ok besides their constant singing and chanting. I got the impression that everyone from Brazil thinks they are on American Idol 24/7. I would stay in a moderate to avoid them next time. Can't remember actually seeing them in the parks though.
