We always go in the slow seasons with ressies all in place (my addiction)
We are going the third week of June and my husband says, cant we just go with NO PLANS and do whatever we want?? Eat when we want, go where we want?

AHHHHHH.......is he kidding??!!

Can we actually DO THAT in June????

Sure you can - but go realizing that you may not be able to eat Table Service. And if you at least get there for opening and use fast passes (that doesn't count as planning in my book :goodvibes ) you'll be fine!

We're going 6/11-15. We do not have a single ADR (no biggie for us). My only "plan" is that I know which days I'm going to which parks, and I know to arrive at rope drop and maximize my FPs. Other than that, it's wide open.

We just toured this way last March. It is Fabulous. Let me tell you, there was nothing like it. Here are few of my observations.

1) I never realized how much I clock watch :hourglass when I have ADR's. I realized on this trip how much energy I spend prodding my kids along because we have to be some where at at certain time just to eat.
2) Realize that you will not get to do every thing touring like this. Be Ok with that. This trip we did not rush to make it to rope drop, I wasn't in the room nagging every one to get dress. My kids were estatic! (Jeez, I must seem like a drill sergent to them). It actually made us a little more efficient because we concentrated on the rides we really wanted to do and after they were done, we had a ball just strolling and being goofy.
3) We actually ate when we were hungry, not just because I had an ADR for a specific time. Be flexible. We were always able to get a TS but we did make a few adjustments. We ate at a lot of resort restaurants, they usually have more spots open up. We ate off hours, some times we had a really late lunch and then we could do cs for dinner.

I wouldn't recommend this type of touring for a newbie but we're returning again in November for Jersey week. I'm making 1 ADR for my sons birthday dinner, that's it!. We loved waking up and saying "What should we do today"?

Ha!

The idea of not planning my trip just gave me a stomach ache. And I'm going for ten days.

I suppose at this point, I could simply make a list of the best parks and go on that day, and I would be just fine. Really I would.

But what the hell would I do between now and November?

:lmao:

We are going 3rd week in June as well, only ADRs are Chef Mickey and Coral reef (for a 7 day trip). We actually like the CS places! We have parks listed for AM or PM with a break in the middle to go back to POFQ, swim and eat dinner at the resort.

Any ride we really want to go on will be a fast pass or during parades, EE, ToT, RRC, POTC, all the rest of the rides will be opportunistic . We have done this on other trip days and it made for a very nice relaxing day. We have also done the ADR "hurry up" dance, that is not fun.

We are going the first week in June with no ADRs either.

We will try to get in (by calling) sometime during the day for a few places but CSs are just fine with us if need be.

I can't believe DW and DD didn't want to make any and as I'm not a big eater at all it really has no effect on me so that what we will do.

We do have our gerenal plans for what parks on what day but even that could change with this trip.

It must be possible.....I can't tell you how many
"Never Heard of the DISboards" friends and aquaintances I know that are going to WDW this summer with no plans! :rotfl:

I think since you know Disney and aren't a newbie it's doable, only thing would be dining, you just might not be able to do much table service, especially at the parks.

Going to the World and not plan :confused3 , is there such a thing.:rotfl2:
I do actually like the idea of not being a "slave to the clock" or being on edge all the time because of my "plan". The big joke is always that I'm the commander in chief of Disney.:rotfl: I think this trip I will try this "not planning" approach for just one day. :scared1: Maybe I'll like it. But, for me half the fun of the trip is the planning, and replanning and rebooking and rewriting....:lmao: :lmao:

We have three kiddos (6/4/3) so planning every little thing is pretty futile. We go with their flow and try to sneek some stuff in for us. We are going June 2-7 and haven't set up anything.

If I was going solo, sure I could go with no plans. I am happy going to CS places and deciding on which park to go to the night before. On the other hand, if I went with my parents, I need to go with a plan. My Dad says he doesn't need a plan; however, this is completely untrue. From the moment we arrive at WDW he wants his tourguide (me) to tell him where we should go. He also says he doesn't mind eating CS, but we usually spend most of the afternoon worrying about where we are going to eat, because "it would be nice if we could have TS."

So in short, sure you can go with no planning, but is that really what your family wants? Will your family be focused on getting TS the entire day and not enjoy your time at the park? Will your family enjoy the freedom of playing things by ear or do they prefer having a plan to follow each day? After going to WDW with my parents and various friends, I can't stress enough that the amount of planning depends on who you are going with and their personal preferences for touring and eating.

My DD and her fiance and I will be at WDW from June 6 - 11th. The only plan we have is to be at each rope drop for early entry. We will take a break in the afternoon and go an evening show, otherwise we will just wander the parks. I won't even wear a watch!

Sounds like my newbie days! ha ha I went there 3 times before I figured out I needed to plan! Then I found the Dis and have been a planning fool ever since! Not sure if I could go back. The thought of going w/out ADR's, park hours and no EMH information scares the **** out of me!

We go several times a year and never have plans, except for booking a tour and maybe one meal at the CG.

This trip we booked the premium package and have scheduled everything. I left the afternoons open for rest - we're going to need it. The last we were on one of the packages was well over 10 years ago and we were pooped.

I feel like I'm planning an invasion :). Thankfully, we're not that interested in park time - eveninigs are fine - so we can take advantage of everything in the package.

We are going mid mid June and have only made one ADR. I'm not to stressed about it since there will only be 2 of us. We just want to go with the flow this trip.

Just be willing to "go with the flow". We often call and see what's available
that evening and at what times and choose what sounds best to us at that
moment. We've done Hoop-dee-doo Revue, La Nouba, and numerous dinner
reservations this way. It's awesome and relaxing to boot. :thumbsup2

Why? :confused3 It was so much fun! Come on over to the dark side! :rotfl: When we checked in, we turned to the all disney channel and got the park hours. Then every day when we woke up, we said "Where should we go today?" I phoned in the morning to scout around to see what was open for TS and then we hit the parks.

Follow the bouncing mickey :mickeyjum .... You are getting sleepy, sleepy... repeat after me, :mickeyjum I will not make an adr

:lmao: Sometimes if we are there for a good length of time, leave one park day as a spontanous family decision. We all vote in the morning where we want to go that day. I, of course, have ADR's for all the parks! :rotfl2:

I just call and cancel the other 3 ADR's on the bus ride. :rotfl:

ADR's  :rotfl:

We went in the third week of June last year.

I would definitely have your ADR's in place. There were plenty of "walk-ups" being turned away.

I would also have a some sort of park touring strategy in place. The tour you used during a slow time, probably won't work for a busy time.

All in all though, I thought the third week of June was a nice time to go. Yes, it was busy, but with some planning - everything when great for us. It is right before the big Fourth of July week rush, so the crowds are manageable.

I see walk-ups being turned away all the time! I would agree, at least make several ADR's, same day, same time, different parks to leave you some options/choices of parks. Then be sure to cancel if you don't need the ADR's. Unless you want Counter service. Which I do enjoy but it's very nice to take a break from the heat and crowds and be served for a relaxing/funly themed meal! It's part of the magic!:wizard:
