I really hate them. Whenever I go to them it brings up all these horrible feelings from my grandparents' funerals. UGH. Plus, surprise surprise there is a bunch of drama between FIL and the Uncle who passed away so I'm afraid there is going to be a scene when emotions are running high.

Oh, I hope not! I hope everyone behaves themselves!

I hope there won't be a scene either that would be very disrespectful to the memory of Marc's Uncle...I hope all parties involved will remember they are there to honor Marc's Uncle and nothing more and nothing less...leave the drama for the next family get together!!

I think you should follow the advice given to you by your friend sounds very respectful and if the elder says its good then I would go with what he says!! If MIL has nothing better to do that day then to get upset with you over rituals...well....I'm just going to leave it at that.

Then I have the wake for Marc's uncle tomorrow night and the funeral on Saturday morning. Which I've been freaking out about because it is a Catholic mass funeral and I have never been. I did ask a woman at work on what is expected for a non-Catholic at a service like that so I feel a little better. I just don't want my MIL getting mad at me and I can totally see that happening. UGH.

LL, nothing to be worried about....again, there is a difference between a funeral mass and a funeral service---but more than likely it will be a mass. A funeral mass is very much like a regular mass, except that during the homily---which will be after all the readings---the priest will speak about Marc's uncle. Follow whatever everyone else does in reference to the standing and sitting---you will be sitting for the majority of the time--and stay seated during the communion service. Don't be worried....if MIL has a snit fit, she is just completely UNREASONABLE!!! I don't see how you can do anything "wrong" during a funeral!!!

Thanks for the interest in DVC, everyone. I bid on a very small contract but it's a start. I like the DVC By Resale and Timeshare Store sites to peruse listings. I found a neat file on **************** that lists the right of first refusal statistics (pm me if you need a link) so that helped me decide what price points were fair, what were a deal, and what I thought would never make it past Disney (which is what happened to me the first time- Disney swept in and bought the contract). The contract I got is a fair price but not a deal. BUT it is the Beach Club and an Oct use year, which is perfect for F&W visits.

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!!!

Hi, Gnomies!

Katie, the snow day ended up with me going slowly out of my mind by 1:30 (I slept until 8:30). There wasn't enough snow to do anything fun with really, and the roads were completely iced and treacherous. So, knowing I was stuck here all day was slowly driving me nuts.

I did an online interview this morning with Fairmont Hotels for a position in Lake Louise, AB...I don't really know if I want to go that far but it might be worth it for a step in the door - they are a BIG, longstanding company!

Wow! I can't believe we made the national news! I'm telling you -- people have no clue what to do with icy roads here. I did head out to the grocery store this morning after the sun was up. Charles was giving me all these pointers if I hit ice on the way. The main roads were fine, but there were a couple of icy patches in our neighborhood. I think the worst of it is over, but there was no way any of us were going anywhere yesterday.
