Thank goodness for priorities! Glad you got that leave form signed. Yours is all set too, I presume, CP??

Are cell phones a big problem? That kids aren't paying attention in class but instead are texting?

Disney music and a day to yourself sound heavenly. Wish I could close my office door and do that!

Good Evening My Dear Gnomies!

I had a great day today! I had mainly training sessions today so I didn't have to do any manual labour! I got to sleep in a little, but was awoken to a text from my friend who had her baby last night (the one that was giving the child up for adoption) and she just wanted to chat a little. She had a baby girl. I can't believe how swiftly it all went. She started feeling her contactions around 10:00pm, by 10:30pm they were pretty close together so she called the hospital. She got to the hospital at 11:00pm and the baby was born at 12:06am! The adoptive parents had taken the baby home by 2am (she was also 3 weeks early), and my friend was home by 4am. But both were healthy and everything went smoothly, she's just slightly shaken up now. I can't believe they didn't offer her any counselling or anything!

How was everyone else's Monday?

Jen(jolt) - I'm glad you had a great first day! :)

Hello, Miss Stacy. So nice to "see" you. So when does your store open? Hurrah for no manual labor!

I'm glad things went so well for your friend. What an incredible gift she is giving the adoptive family! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Monday is good... one day closer to the weekend!! :yay:

Hello to you too Miss Christine! Nice to "see" you too! My store has our grand opening on August 27th! Tomorrow I get to do three more hours of loss prevention training and more merchandising training!

And I too am glad that she was able to find such a nice family. They're a young couple a few years older than me, who were so excited to have a baby and couldn't...they'll definately love that little one to bits.

Oh yes I wasted no time getting my leave form signed LOL Now to line up a sub LOL!!!!!! But no matter what I have the time off YAY!!!!

Stace...so glad you had a great first day also!!!! I'm glad to hear everything went okay with your friend and the delivery of her baby girl!!!!

Happy Tuesday my dear gnomies!

Stace, sounds like you have been busy but that must be nice after being without a job for so long. I can't believe your friend (and her baby) were discharged from the hospital so quickly. Will she be allowed to see pictures of the little girl as she grows? That must be a very difficult decision to make but a wonderful blessing for the adoptive parents. Good for you for being there for her!

Jen, best of luck on your day 2 productivity! Glad to hear you can take cell phones. What is your school policy? Where I used to teach, kids were allowed to have them but they were supposed to be turned off during class time but it still was a frequent problem.

CP, how's your year going so far?

I still haven't heard anything from the university. I've got my fingers crossed that today is the day! At this point, I would be shocked to not at least get an interview, I just don't know how high it is on their back-from-vacation-to-do list. Greg's co-workers said that as of Friday, they hadn't even accessed the applications yet so they weren't even sure how many were in the pool of candidates. I keep thinking that the delay is good for me, hopefully others have already accepted other positions.

I contacted our real estate agent yesterday and the price listed in Saturday's paper on the house we like was a misprint. She said there has been a lot of showings and some interest but no offers.

Julez, I'm dying to hear if your offer was accepted and to see pics of the house!

Have a great day everyone!

Good Evening Gnomies.

I had a full day of appointments but the happy news is that it's my last day of appointments before surgery!

Yay!!

I learned way too much about what they are going to be doing to me next week....ignorance is bliss. :lmao:

I'm pretty much terrified. I know it's for the better but it's still quite scary. Then I had my last support group and let's just say I'm on information overload.

I'm going to bed soon.

ONE WEEK!

HI!

Katie - keep the faith on the job front. It WILL happen! :wizard::goodvibes

LL- I can imagine that ignorance is bliss. But knowing what is going to happen is also important. You know your gnomies will be there for you! One week!! WOW.

Jess- saw your update on FB. Very exciting!

Stacy - for some silly reason I used to love loss prevention training. And I always took great pleasure in catching the shop lifters. My inner Nancy Drew coming out, perhaps? :confused3

Jen (JJ)- 2 days into the school year... what's the verdict?

CP - how's your school year? You are in full session by now with the kids and everything?

Jen (MM)- how's the puppy?

Julez - what's the scoop on the house?

Paula - hope you didn't let meanies on another part of the DIS scare you away!

Hi guys! :wave2: There's so much going on with you guys I don't know where to start!!!

We are set to close on the house on Sept. 17th! Just a few last items to get faxed to the finance lady, the FHA home appraisel next week, arranging homeowner's insurance after that, final walk-through and then closing! I'm sure it will go fast and now I get to go through the house top to bottem to find all junk I do not want to move with us (old toys, furniture, clothing, etc).

To be honest, I'm not all that excited yet. I'm more excited about the little things- things like decorating and hanging pictures and painting cabinets.....buying rugs (it's all wood flooring)....

I can't believe summer is over for Jen and CP!

LL, you will be fine and everything will go smooth and you'll be so happy you did something so pro-active when this is all over!:hug::hug:

Stace- new store sounds like things are good, yea? Cant' believe how fast they deliver and get discharged....

P- how is P?!

C- All settled into your new car and what's the next big thing on your list?

Jess- how's Jess?

JenII (MM lol)- how's your happy life?

And for the school front- going to be starting in January. Was awarded the Dean's Scholarship and status as "Honors-at-Entrance" which gives me $6,200/yr in tuition. Yay me!! Glad I worked so hard for my associates! :yay::yay::yay:

OK, I'm beat. Gonna hit the hey-hey-hey!

:wizard:G'night Gnomies

UGH! Are you kidding me I just typed a really long update and I don't see it anywhere! I'll have to update in further detail tomorrow :confused3

CONGRATULATIONS, JULEZ!!!! :woohoo::dance3::woohoo: That is super-duper fantastic news. Post some pics of the house when you have a chance. I am so excited for you! :goodvibes

Ugh- sorry about the lost update, Jess. I'll look forward to reading about the beach and this job opportunity tonight.

Have a great day, gnomies. At least it is Wednesday already! :upsidedow

PS- hey, I just noticed I went over 4,000 posts!!!

Yay Julez on the new house and scholarship money!

Yay Jess on the promising job prospect!

LL, I'm thinking of you as your surgery approaches. You know you are making the right choice but it is scary as it approaches I'm sure, hang in there!

Today is the last day of summer vacation for Patrick. I am SO ready for him to go back to school. The boy needs more structure and some time away from his little brother! When I ask him if he's ready to return he says no but he has brought up tonight's back-to-school night and tomorrow's first day of school a couple times a day this week...I think he is secretly excited

No good news here yet...I'm trying to keep the faith!

Good Morning Gnomies!

Julez, congrats on the house! I'm so happy for you. I can't wait to see pictures!

Jess, welcome home! We missed you.

How is everyone else doing this fine day?

Hey Gnomies!!!

WOW what a day...this going back to work thing keeps you pretty busy LOL!!!

Julez....CONGRATS on the house and the scholarship that is FANTASTIC!! I'm so excited for you!!

Jess...can't wait to hear more about this job prospect that you have!!

Katie...yes keep the faith..something is out there for you I just know it!!!!

LL...just think only one more week and all of this will be over and you will be on your way to recovery and a new lifestyle!! YAY!!!

Hi all! Ok, I have an hour to spare before I head in back to school. So...vacation, it was awesome as always! We got some rain thursday and friday, but we found a really cool beach store in Calabash, NC and did some outlet shopping on thursday, friday cleared up nicely by late afternoon. We went to Blake's house saturday-monday. He's finishing his paper for his Master's, I SOO wish I was done, but sadly no, he has to turn it in by friday and has been running getting it printed on thesis paper at Kinko's. While it's 34 pages EACH, Little irked that the school doesn't do that for you and he had 6 copies made that have to be bound which is an additional $20 per copy to be bound and he won't tell me how much he spent....I understand it's for school, but still, we don't have that kind of money to "waste" right now..OTTV!

So sunday we went to look at a townhouse that I had been eyeing at 1pm, the rent is $10 cheaper than we're paying now. Currently we're in a 970 sq ft 1 bed, 1 bath and this is a 1200 sq ft 2 bed, 1.5 bath, plus it's 2 floors. It still has the clubhouse aspect, so gym, HUGE pool, very dog friendly/dog park and maintenance guy. They wanted us to sign the application to get us in, but there's no way right now especially since my job interview was at 3pm that day and I had a bad feeling the pay would be bad. I talked to dad about it and visited the firehouse to check out the crime in the area/lack there of. So then I go to this interview. The deal is this guy started this aquarist/fish/tank maintenance company 12 years ago. He has his Master's and all his employees have their bachelors. We chatted for a while. He pays 50% toward benefits, gives you your own truck to visit the clients and do maintenance/set up so your not spending gas money. He says he pays $12/hour for a probational period, so I'm looking at $22,000 to start, but increasing to $24,000 with the ability to jump up to $34,000 within the next 2 years. SO...he's looking to start a coral business now and wants to hire me as his main Reef Biologist. They do the tanks at the Bass Pro Shops in VA, MD and TN, the large tanks in Hotel lobbys in VA Beach, some tanks at the North Carolina Aquarium, The VA Zoo and VA Aquarium and only do businesses like for doctor's offices, etc so I wouldn't have to worry about going to some strange po-dunk house by myself. He said if I'm able to get the coral business going I could seriously make lots more money. He has 3 kids and said he's so flexible with schedules, I can make my own hours and take off here and there for doctor's appointments or dog stuff and not have to fill out paperwork and stuff. PLUS, I found another same type business in the area that already wants to hire me for part time that I could compensate for the lower salary in the beginning. He wants me to keep in contact for the next month-month and a half and see where I'm at. It just seems like something I can make lots of contacts through bigger aquariums and rise in the pay chain a lot quicker than working in a public aquarium. I just haven't actually signed any contract, things like that make me nervous.

Here's where I'm going nuts right now. We have about 2 weeks to decide what we're doing. We'd have to give our 30 days notice here, we'd be looking to move in to the other place around 1st week of October, but have to put up $450 for application stuff/processing (some of that you get back your 1st month), cancelling cable, switching bills out of my name here and into down there, getting a moving truck, packing cleaning the carpets here professionally (pet agreement with our apartment), etc etc...and the big thing...finishing my lab work for my thesis!!!! I have a meeting with my advisors on friday to figure out where I am. Wherever I am, I'd have about a month to finish everything at school and be at the point where I'm comfortable writing my paper while not at school anymore. So, that's lots of expenses and I'm only doing part time work now. I'm looking into seeing how much money we have left in the account and trying to save like mad. I know things will work out, I'm just trying not to get ovewhelmed, thank you so much for the encouragement already girls, you all are the absolute best!!

Julez-CONGRATS on the house!!! SO incredibly excited for you.
JJ-Sounds like you had a great first day, can't wait to hear about the rest of your week.
Katie-Still thinking about you on the interview!
LL-So glad most of your tests are done, thinking good thoughts for you, it'll all be over quickly!
MM-How is the dog doing? I may have missed it!
P-We will definitely have to get together if you're going to be in VA Beach next year!
C-How're you doing girl?
Stace-Job not stressing you out too much?

Oh lord, getting stressed all of a sudden. I completely forgot, if we make this move, I'll have to become a Virginia resident! I'd have to get my license changed, my license plate changed, get a car inspection (Virginia has these weird registration stickers on their cars), change my car insurance policy to the new state, change my bank (they don't have 1st Mariner Bank's in Virginia)....:sad1:

And the little bit of pride in me is getting ticked because this is what Blake's family wanted all from the beginning, for him to move back home. It's the only thing we bicker about. I don't want to move to Virginia, but he doesn't want to move away from his family. I guess I'm at least 40 mins away from them so that I won't have to see them constantely. OY!
