Morning Gnomies

Things went really well for the first orientation session! The roughest thing was trying to organize schedules for two jobs. My original manager got a little mad that I had managed to find something else so she put me on the schedule for way more hours than normal - and then my new manager told me that if I couldn't figure out how to do it and commit to the hours for her, then I couldn't take the position. So I had to confront my old manager over it and it wasn't fun.But thankfully she realized how badly I need the new job and she switched things around so - so far so good! I start working on store set-up on Monday! Grand Opening August 27!

Katie - I'm sorry to hear about the job I know how rough it is in this economy and job market. It was just in our paper this morning that Unemployment rates have doubled since last year. But like I keep saying, you are great and any company would be lucky to have you! I know you'll find something!

LL - Yay LL!! I'm so glad that something has come up to make you nice and happy! I'm sure your surgery will be a huge success!

Jen(jolt) - I'm glad that your mom is doing well on her medication and you've been enjoying spending time together! You have become quite the traveller!

The actress who plays the red headed vampire Victoria is NOT coming back for the 3rd movie. She's being replaced by Ron Howard's daughter. Too bad. Of all of them she was the one who was the closest to how I pictured the characters in my head.

Miley Cyrus and Zack Efron (sp?) considering remaking the Gidget movies. I loved Gidget and Moondoggie. I wanted to be a surf bum. Still do.

Rachel Lefevre has said she's not coming back due to scheduling conflicts but I don't know. Eclipse is the biggest movie for Victoria! I can't imagine her wanting to miss out on the meatiest part of the role!

As for Miley Cyrus as Gidget - NO! Though Zac Efron would be great as Moondoggie!! I don't know who I would choose as Gidget. But I too always wanted to be a surf chick!

Stacy- how was your first day? Are you open for business yet or setting up the store? I worked retail for many years and opened quite a few stores. That was always my favorite - hard work but fun.

We're not open yet so we'll all be working to set up the new store! I too enjoy setting up new stores! I like that you know where everything is from the get go and know exactly what's there!

Hey Gnomies....cross your fingers for me....I am about to make my daily call to Mickey to see 1. If I can get my free upgrade or 2. If there are any rooms available yet in a Mod......wish me luck and pixie dust!!!!

Great news Gnomies!! We finally heard back from the insurance company and they're covering $875 toward Riley's plate!!! That's almost half! Which is what we were hoping for!!

Great news Gnomies!! We finally heard back from the insurance company and they're covering $875 toward Riley's plate!!! That's almost half! Which is what we were hoping for!!

I am stuffing envelopes, my last "task" to complete. Office is packed up. Paperwork is finished unless something else comes in yet today. Still have to haul my stuff out to my van and turn in keys at the end of the day. Surprisingly, my supervisor (the one who has complained about me to the other one) told me about a job that will be opening in the biology dept. They have an academic advisor who is retiring as of today. I will have to stop down and talk to the dept head before I leave and see what his thoughts are on a timeline to fill the position.

Cheshire Figment reports that as of this Sunday, AP renewals will be good for 15 months instead of 12.

I thought my AP holder friends would love this announcement!

Thanks for the well wishes! Katie, I WISH it went toward Gnomefest, but unfortunately we have to make sure rent and bills are covered before we move!
OH, I just heard back from a potential job employer! He has his Master's from the University of Charleston and owns his own company. They work with the Virginia Aquarium, North Carolina Aquarium and others in the area to set up tank displays and raise fish and inverts. He ONLY hires Aquarists. I have no idea what the pay is yet or what the benefits if any there would be, but he said he looked at my resume and he is interested in offering me a position. AHHHH! PLEASE keep your fingers crossed for me girls!

I had the weirdest Disney dream I have ever had. I don't know where in the heck I was, but I was still in my house, but we were about 3 hours from Orlando for the week. Why we had a vacation in Florida yet my house had moved 3 hours away AND the fact that we weren't actually staying in Orlando....I had no clue. Well Blake and I visited Epcot the first day, but we got back SO late and I wanted my mom to come the next day. My dad told us that he would surprise my mom and let us stay on property. He arranged a spa treatment for her at the Grand Floridian, but it was in a gift shop and kinda freaky. I wanted her to see the GF check-in but we couldn't find it! There was like 3D rides and theatres inside and some opera show that we got caught up in and they threw fish at us! I was getting so angry because I wanted her to see if, yet everytime we asked for directions, we ended up some place weird inside the resort. It started to rain when we got outside finally..but never did actually find the check-in....man.....

Very hard to catch up on the bberry but think I saw some hopeful job prospects for Katie and Jess. Yeah!!

LL- think u wanted a book recommendation? Just finished Julie and Julia (movie coming out next week) and LOVED it. Eat, Pray, Love is an all time fave. And To Kill A Mockingbird, if you've never read is my absolute fave.

CP- work is totally overrated. Calgon (or a sugar daddy ) take me away!

So I'm in the hotel bar (where else??) And it occurs to me that we need nicknames. Like the spice girls had posh, scary, sporty etc. Or kinda like the dwarves. :

Except I don't like the ring of drunk gnomie, derelict gnomie or delinquent gnomie.
