Gnomies Gone Wild

:sad2: Yep, didn't get the job...that's what I was starting to suspect :guilty:

WTH? I just don't get it!! I'm running out of options of "decent" jobs. I'm about ready to start applying at the grocery stores in town :sad1:

Gnomies I have some news!!!

I HAVE A TENTATIVE SURGERY DATE!

August 26th!!! :scared1:  :cool1: :woohoo: :yay:

I am SO excited.

I had a great appointment today.

In three weeks I have lost 12.6lbs and only need to lose 8 more before surgery so they have me tenatively scheduled for August 26th!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I will be fine to go to Disney on my vacation both the surgeon and nutritionist assure me that I will be A-OK! At that point I will be eating normally and not have had my first adjustment yet so YAY!

I am super excited, you have no idea. I just can't believe it's going to be so soon.

Marc will still be in October sometime. He lost 17lbs! He has a bit more to lose than I do before surgery. :thumbsup2

:hug::hug::woohoo::woohoo::hug::hug:

LL- this is FANTASTIC news! Good for you! 13 pounds in 3 weeks is terrific! You've made it sound like you were doing terribly! Good for you! This is so exciting!! :hyper:

That is soon... I didn't realize you were going to do it before WDW. I'm relieved to hear that the Dr's have given the all clear. No one better mess with Disney! ;)

Yippee!!!!!!!!!!! Good for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well that just stinks. :headache: :sad1:  I'm so sorry.

I can't explain it. Any school system, university or other org would be LUCKY to have you as a teacher! :goodvibes I know, easy for me to say, but we have to have faith that something better is in store for you! ::yes::

In the meantime, those people are bozos for picking someone else. <<insert sticking your tongue out at yucky people smiley here>>

Hang in there, gnomie! :goodvibes:goodvibes

Hey LL, I just saw your message about surgery. Congrats on the weight loss, that is so exciting!! (can you eat dancing bananas on your diet?)

I agree C, I am not strict on the male/female roles but must say I have never mowed or snowblowed in 9 years at our house...that is Greg's job! Honestly, I once suggested to him that I would go out and do the snow but he insisted he didn't want me using the snowblower. OK, you said so!

I decided to call the university with the job I REALLY want. I was told that the timing of the announcement wasn't great as the director is gone for another 2 weeks and they won't be acting on it until then. Well, at least I know that is still out there! I was getting nervous not having heard anything yet. I just had a long talk with Greg and he agrees that I shouldn't apply for the few teaching jobs that are options right now. I don't want to lock myself into a contract when there may be other options yet (like my current job is still likely to come up again in a month or two also) SO, I will be contacting schools about subbing. Even subbing 1/2 time is more money than a minimum wage full-time job then if a job comes along, I can easily say I can't sub anymore.

OK Katie, dust yourself off and think positive!!

Those are great smileys!! Hehehe.

Thanks. I am so excited. I probably won't go as crazy with the food down there but I am super duper excited about having it done before. I wasn't planning on doing it before but they are able to get me in and I'm ready!

Thanks Katie!!

Everything will work out. I agree that subbing is a better idea than a lesser paying full time job. Plus it will give you flexibility for interviews and if another position comes up. :thumbsup2

Knowing the timeline on the job you really want is good! At least now you won't spend the next two weeks worrying!

Very good you and Greg are on the same page. He sounds very supportive. :goodvibes

Subbing sounds like a good plan until the right thing comes along!

Love you, Katie! :goodvibes

Glad you like 'em. No need to go crazy with food down there. And just let me know what I can do in terms of support down there. For example, if you only want a sip of champagne, I'm *willing* to drink the rest. :rotfl: But seriously, let me know what I can do, if anything, to make it easier. :goodvibes

Well I tend to look at mowing the yard as great exercise so I'm more than happy to do it...we trade off and this time it was my turn. However as I was about halfway done (my backyard is huge and we have a push mower LOL) one of the back wheels fell off...and I tried mowing the yard with 3 wheels but that just wasn't working out for me in heat outside LOL!! So now Prince P has to pick up a new mower on the way home LOL!!!

:hug:Katie I'm so sorry about the job :hug: I'm glad you are looking on the bright side and you are right you can substitute in the meantime if necessary, but you still have some job prospects and I hope one of those will turn out for you!!!!

LL...:woohoo::woohoo::yay::dance3::dance3: YAY for your surgery date!! I know you are very excited and I'm excited for you!! I'm very glad that it won't interfere with Disney!!! And don't worry about going crazy on the food I'll do that for you...C as already offered to help with the drinks LOL :rotfl2:

Ok you financially savvy gnomies,

Here's a question for you. I put some of my car deposit on my Disney Visa to get some points. I, happily, have the cash to pay it off any time. Do any of you know how the points work? Do I need to leave the charge on there until a statement date and then I get credit for it?

I should know this but I don't.... :confused3 Where is Suze Ormon when you need her? :rotfl:

Hi Gnomies!
Wow, sounds like lots of congrats are in store!

C-Love the new car!! It looks awesome!:thumbsup2
Stace-So happy for your new and improved job! Hopefully no more drama anymore for you!:woohoo:
LL-Yay yay to the surgery date! Congrats on the pounds lost already, you rock!!:banana:
Katie-So sorry about the job...I feel ya right now :guilty:
Julez-Hope the house hunting is still going well, hang in there!
JJ-Hope your visit with your mom is going well and glad she's feeling better!
MM-Love the updates for your trip!
P-Hope you're doing good girl!

Well, today is my exit interview for my assistantship. :guilty:They're letting me keep my office for one more week and then I have to move down to the labs for good because the new graduate student is taking over my job. I get paid tomorrow for my last paycheck and then have to rely on the little bit of part time hours I have left. Plus, Blake and I realized that we need to give our 30 days notice here soon and I'm so not ready to do that. I've been applying everywhere and no to avail. I really don't want to move to Blake's area because of his family but that's looking like all there is to offer right now. As it looks right now we may be moving to Virginia Beach within the next 2-3 months, but it's all just so scary right now. The dog is doing well, we're almost on week 4 of recovery already! The thesis on the otherhand is still slow going, I just need to do like Katie said and pick myself up and stay positive. Hopefully it'll all fall into place here soon. I miss you allll!!!!

I don't really know but I would guess you get the credit immediately. However, I would be tempted to wait until your statement if you don't carry a balance (Not certain but I THINK they can charge you interest on the purchase if you carry a balance depending on how often it is calculated)

Thanks for the congrats on the car. I like it a lot! :thumbsup2

Hang in there on the job stuff. I'm sure it is very stressful! Something will come through soon! Peace, love and mickey mouse to you, Blake and Riley! :goodvibes

Thanks C, love you and all my gnomies too!! I know I've said it before but I'm so grateful to have all of you to vent to, cry with and share joys :grouphug:

Ditto!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
You are such a good friend C!!

I know, me and Mother Theresa. So selfless. :rolleyes1 ;)

:grouphug::grouphug: AWWW I love my gnomies too...you guys are the best!!!!!!! :grouphug::grouphug:

Jess...I'll be praying and sending my thoughts as you and Blake go through this transition time!!

C, I am not sure about your Disney Visa points. Hmmm....I know the points are given each statement so you might want to wait a bit. Maybe call them?

:lmao: to the offer of champagne. They say that after surgery 1 drink will equal 3 to 4 drinks. :rotfl2: I think a sip will do me in.

Jess, keep your chin up!! Things will work out.

Gnomies, I can't tell you how excited I am. I'm on cloud nine. I thought I would be nervous once I knew when my actual surgery is but I am so flipping excited. I can't contain myself. :yay:

LL- I'm excited that you're so excited! :yay:

So I was just listening to the DIS podcast and heard the following tidbits:

* they are taking the backs off the chairs in the quick service restaurants starting with Pecos Bills (Cosmic Rays next). Apparently this is to make ppl less comfortable and less inclined to stay a while. :scared:

I understand the desire to turn tables but this seems extreme!

* new online ADR system is resulting in lots of walk ups being available. Couple of podcasters were able to get lunch at Le Cellier one day and if you read Happy Dog's report she was able to get a 9pm dinner on July 4th!

So if there's somewhere you want to eat, don't necessarily take the system's word for it that there is no availability!

Hi everyone!!!

Jess... hang in there girlfriend! Great things are coming your way I know it!

Katie... Ditto for you! Sorry the job didn't work out, but actually...subbing for a while doesn't sound like too bad of a deal... reasonable pay til you find what you want rather than settling for something you don't and being stuck in a contract.

LL... woohoo for the surgery date!! I didn't realize that it might happen before your trip either. I'm glad that it works out that the trip isn't impacted:thumbsup2 And yay for how great you and Marcaredoing on the diet!! Wow!

C... I'd love to come visit! I'dlove to goto nationals too... but tickets costa fortune, so until Allison gets to compete there.... I'll probably save my few hundred bucks! On the Disney Visa points....I have a Marriott card that gives me points for my hotel stays. I pay it off every pay...regardless of my statement dates and my full # of points are always credited!

Jen... so glad you 're home! Sorry about the jungle lol!! You could always use the time to come up with one liners about your yard and be your own jungle cruise captain!!! LOL!!!

Julez... thanks for the trailer! hope your house hunting becomes productive soon!!

nothing to report from here!!

Paula

C, have fun in Seattle!

I think it's ridiculous that they are taking the backs off the chairs! How rude!!
