Gnomies Gone Wild

Oh C...:hug::hug::hug: I understand. We should form a support group. I certainly didn't leave mine with a smile today. Remember, things can only get better!:goodvibes remember, you will win the lottery and become independantly wealthy!:thumbsup2

Well, let me tell you Leslie! I think that is a very Men In Black thing. If you remember, at one point in the movie, Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith are in the car -
Will Smith: "You do know Elvis is dead don't you?"
Tommy Lee Jones "Elvis is not dead he just went home."
Well, I think it's close! I think Michael Jackson was an alien. And he was originally put on the planet in a child's body. But since it wasn't a real human body, it started to change and sort of decompose while he was in it. That's why as he got older, he got stranger and stranger looking! His alien disguise was becoming too old and couldn't hold up to his lifestyle! I also think his alien mind got wrapped up in certain aspects of human life (i.e. childhood, music and dance) and couldn't comprehend all of it, and it was just overwhelming! So he came off as a kind of strange dude....and that's also how he was so original, because he used his alien homelife as inspiration and taught us all new musical stylings! Also how he got his dance moves (hello?! The moonwalk!? He liked outerspace!). And since he died at an even-numbered age (50), I think that's how long his assignment was, or how long his human disguise was designed to last! And as for his higher speaking voice, I am contemplating that the actual alien was a woman-being...

I know, it's very very odd....:rolleyes1 But it just all seems to add up! :rotfl:Maybe it's the same with several of our musical icons over the years! (How else could Keith Richards still be rolling along!?:confused3:rotfl: ) Or maybe it's like Charlaine Harris did with Elvis, maybe he's a vampire.

I know I know I know....please don't shun me as a super oddball! :) I have a very wild imagination!

Oh my goodness!! I love it!! :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: You totally should write some books. I also loved how Charlaine Harris made Elvis a vampire, it totally fit into the story and the pop culture phenom of Elvis sightings!

Good Morning Gnomies!

It's Friday!

Back to browsing the boards.... mwuah!

TGIF has never sounded so good!! I have had the worst time sleeping this week and I desperately need the weekend to start like right now!!!

Sounds like a lot of gnomies need the weekend to be here LOL!!

Jackie yes we will survive Friday and soon we'll be home cozy on our couches with our laptops watching the Olympics ...okay well maybe that will be just me LOL! Either way we will be able to relax LOL~~

C...oh no big hugs my friend!! The more and more the year keeps going by the more and more I want it to be October LOL!!!!

Katie...glad everything went smoothly for your mom!! Hope she has a very speedy recovery!!!

Stace...LOL...love the theory!! You do have a way with words...classic!!!!

Leslie...wow how many books did you read just this week alone, you and Jackie are my book idols!

did everyone survive their Friday?

I got a call from my Dad today. Turns out Mom is having some problems/pain that she should not be having so she is in the hospital another night so they can keep an eye on her. If it continues and/or they can't explain it, they may have to do another angiogram to see if they missed something. She hates being stuck in the hospital so I know she is disappointed! Keep her in your thoughts.

Also, this morning I did a workout that involved some floor work. I was on 1 knee and when I brought the other knee down, I knocked it wrong and had a TERRIBLE pain! I got up and stretched and walked around and it started to feel better. I even finished my workout! Then I went and picked up Daniel at school, ran errands, came home and made lunch. I went to get up from the table after eating and could barely stand! :headache: It has hurt like HE** since! Greg thinks it probably popped out of place then back in but is now swelling in response to the movement. thank goodness for prescription anit-inflammatories and pain killers (but it does mean I will have to skip that alcoholic drink tonight) Hopefully this will only last a day or two!

anyone with fun weekend plans? Daniel has a birthday party on Sunday but that's about it around here

I made it to the end of the work week! If only I could have some divine intervention about what to do with all my Disney decisions.

Katie, oh, I hope your mom feels better soon! Keeping her in my thoughts! I hope the anti-inflammatories and painkillers kick in for you and your knee starts to feel better!

Jen, I hope you get some solid sleep this weekend!

Julez, hope you were able to fly under the radar with your internet time!

Stace, I second the idea that you should write books! You are very creative! :goodvibes

LL, hi!

C, hope you made it through your rough day!

Katie, I'll be thinking good thoughts for your Mom!

CP, Hi! I just finished The Sugar Queen! I loved it. This is the 4th book I've finished since Monday. I think I'll skip going to the dentist tomorrow and bail on cleaning the new apartment and just read all day. :rolleyes1

Stace...loved your MJ theory...hilarious! I read it Tom...and he thinks you should "step away fromthe bottle" :lmao: I wish I could come up with stuff like that.

my Oct trip is 10/16-21...i think:rolleyes: Could be 17th-21 or 16-20.... but I was toying with adding a day.... but I don't remeber ifit was the 17th or the 21st LOL!

My birthday is 10/19.... yours is early oct isn't it??

I am so glad you loved it! I always worry a little that my book recommendations will fall flat, you know? I do have to say that Chloe was my favorite character in the entire story because of her "problem" with books. I laughed out loud several times when the books were "misbehaving."

Crappy day... got even crappier. Met a friend for dinner came out to the parking lot and someone hit my car (still less than a year old) and drove away! :headache::headache::headache::headache:

I called the police and another customer had witnessed it and written down a license plate. Police are looking into it as we speak and hopefully finding the jerk. The officer asked if I wanted to press charges and I said YES. He said, that means they'll be arrested. Again I said, YES.

This isn't just a scratch- it's a big dent and paint damage. I'd consider the death penalty if I could... :rolleyes1

I'm SO annoyed. Annoyed it happened, annoyed it is rancid icing on a crappy week, annoyed I'm now going to have to call insurance and figure out where to take the car to be fixed, annoyed I'll be without the car for a while, annoyed there are people out there who would do that and drive away...

... the list goes on. :sad2:

That was a great story line! Your book recommendations have always been spot on for me...except the Lace Reader but I'll forgive you since you hadn't actually read it before...just mentioned it. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

I don't know what to read next. If I want to read another Diane Chamberlain or start Blood Lily again.

Awwwww, C! :grouphug:

Absolutely you should press charges!

seriously craptastic c!! I'd press charges too.... teach them a lesson about being a donkeys behind!!

Oh, C, that is so horrible! I do think this may be the worst week for a few of us in a very long time. I would press charges, too. Just like I hope the person who stole Charles' debit card number gets caught!

LL, yes, please forgive me for The Lace Reader. I knew not what I was talking about on that one. I say give The Blood Lily another chance. :goodvibes

Yes, I do forgive you. I feel as though I took one for the greater good for DIS readers everywhere in reading that one. :rotfl2:

I might try Blood Lily. I don't know. I hate that I'm not dying to read that one right now.

Have you read the other book by Sarah Addison Allen?

Nope, not yet. Our library doesn't have it, and I am trying to be frugal this week.

Oh, you could read one of the Tasha Alexanders. Both are soooo good.

Oh No C!! That is completely terrible and I can't believe someone would just leave and not leave a note or something....thank goodness for that other customer who took down the license plate and I hope the person who drove away gets everything coming to them...teach them a lesson!!

Hopefully your weekend will get better!

Oh C, that sucks! It's just crappy that someone would do that then drive away without taking reponsibility. Lucky for you, that other customer was there to have your back! I hope they find them!

Oh no C! I'm so sorry girl! Thankfully somebody did see it happen. It totally sucks that somebody hit your car and drove away, but his karma came back to him and some good samaritan saw it, lucky for you! Keep us updated!

And CP, I'm sorry about Charles' debit card! Things have been bad for all of us lately.

My grandmother is at a rehab place for her leg. She ended up fracturing her femur of all things, so it's going to be 3 weeks there and a total of 3 months before she can put weight on it. And because of all the snow my parents got, while she was away (which is probably a good thing she wasn't there), the snow melted down into the walls, flooded her basement, ruined her ceiling and there's water all over her brand new carpet. My dad didn't have the heart to tell her with her recovery, so he's been secretly trying to fix things one at a time so there's less damage by the time she gets back. He can't really do anything major until the snow melts.

Definitely an interesting time for all of us right now. Good news though, I took my first test on tuesday for my class and I got an 87% :thumbsup2
We're off this week and the following week is our midterm already, this semester is flying by!

Happy Saturday, Gnomies! Hope everyone has a much better weekend than our weeks have been!

Hi, Jess! Your poor grandmother! I hope her leg heals quickly, and that your dad is able to fix most of the damage before she returns! Great news about your test, though. That is definitely cause for celebration!
