My mom and Aunt were talking about it and my mom was saying to me how they just can't figure out what her problem is but it's simple. You need to cut her out, no question about it. No baby announcement, no visits, return any gifts she gives you. I would even tell her that comment was the last straw, and you no longer want anything to do with her.

That is exactly what I'm doing. My mom has tried telling her what she did was mean and hurtful and she responded she had no idea what she was talking about. I think this all started because she found out I was pregnant when everyone else did, she got mad at my mom that "non-family" found out before she did. Then Violet's middle name is after my dad's mom so I think that pushed her over the edge. I haven't seen her since my brother's wedding in Sept. 2008 nor have I talked to her at all since then. She didn't even come to Marc & I's wedding so I just don't care. I am so over it. It's sad because she is the only grandparent that I have left but she obviously doesn't care and at this point I don't either. I've already decided if she sends Christmas cards this year I am returning it to her unopened.

LL, that is insanely mean!! (Grandma...not you!) Sometimes as sad as it is, you choose to let go of family members who are toxic. You wouldn't have anything to do with her anymore if she weren't family, at times we have to consider if family is enough of a friend to hold on to...and sometimes the answer is no and that doesn't make you the bad person!

Although as someone who has been there, I might suggest you take the higher road. Go ahead and throw out the christmas card unopened and if she gives you a baby gift, just pass it on to someone in need. No need to stoop to her level of intentional hurtfulness

Katie, that is very well said! That is exactly right too. I have to remember this. One of my cousins has always been her greatest fan and she started saying stuff to me on Facebook so I blocked them all. I just don't need that drama. It feels fabulous to get all of that OUT of my life.

While I think she is pure evil and would probably put the real Ursula to shame, I have to agree with Katie. I think you just need to ignore her. You have so much going on right now that is so amazing and full of love you don't need to bring on any extra negativity. She has obviously chosen not to be a part of your life so it should be very easy for you not to make her a part of yours anymore.

I agree with everyone else LL. A nice clean break seems to be in order. Unfortunately I have been there too with people who I once considered to be family. But I am much healthier and happier without them and you will be too. If they can't see you for the amazing person you are then they are not worth your time. Block 'em from FB, don't answer if they call, send any packages back...no contact. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this, but know that you are a good person and beautiful and you always have a dis family who loves you!
