Gnomes Gnomes on the Range!

LL, did you end up keeping track of the number of books you read all year? I counted mine up last night -- 92 -- just one more than 2009. LOL!

Thanks Stacy! I love your resolution!!! Tom and I used to watch all the Oscar faves every year before the big event....but then parenthood hit, and I think I would have to say my favorite movies of the year are all children's movies---TS3 and Tangled! :) I am sure we will be cultured and sophisticated again at some point! :)

Jen, those 2 movies are amazing! Both will definately get nominations! And believe me, I wish I had children so I wouldn't have to go to the movies so often! You're very very very lucky!:goodvibes

Stace, I was disappointed too! The room-only discounts aren't anything to jump up and down about (not that I would ever turn it down if it was the only option!) and the kids-free deal isn't much for us since it doesn't change the price of the room at all and Patrick will be turning 10 before we go next so we will only have 1 "kid".

If I go, it won't be until November and the current deals don't go that far out. Hopefully they'll come up with something better for me before then :)

I shouldn't complain really, it was thanks to a room-only discount that I was able to go last year. And it really was a great discount. But really, it worked out to cost more than going during free dining! I would rather have a nice free dining offer. And the kids being free doesn't help me either!:goodvibes At least you'd get one free! That's better than nothing! I was thinking it would be buy a certain amount of nights and get some free, or get free passes or something....oh well, maybe something else will come along!

Hi Stace! I can't begin to pick just ONE book. So I am going to give you a list....

*The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks - Rebecca Skloot
*The Shopaholic Series - Sophie Kinsella
*Revolution - Jennifer Donnelly
*The Tea Rose - Jennifer Donnelly
*The Hunger Game Series - Suzanne Collins
*Winter Garden - Kristin Hannah
*The Silent Governess - Julie Klassen
*Promises to Keep - Jane Green
*The Help - Kathryn Stockett
*The Blue Bistro - Elin Hilderbrand
*Juliet - Anne Fortier
*The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie - Alan Bradley

Okay, I guess that's enough. :rotfl2:

Oh LL!! If you had to choose ONE of those, which would it be!! Tough question I know...and you can leave out the shopaholics since it's a series (and I've read them! ;))

So gnomies, Nowhere Boy was wonderful! very cute and fun! And I saw The Fighter last night which was great! I'm almost done with the oscar movies! I think I might try to cover the BAFTA's next! :)

Stace! That's like asking me to pick what child I would save in a fire! It's just mean!! :lmao:

How about I narrow it down to three? :rolleyes1

*Juliet - Anne Fortier
*The Help - Kathryn Sockett
*Winter Garden - Kristin Hannah

Those are my top three from last year. The Winter Garden may have a little bit of an edge, it's a wonderful story that is set in modern day and also goes back to Russia during the Revolution, it's FABULOUS. I'm actually contemplating buying it for my Nook for my trip to read again.

:lmao:hehehe! I did feel a bit evil asking! But I did delight in it a little too! ;) I will write down those titles! All of them, but I will star those three! Last night I started reading The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. Have you read any of hers? My BFF's mum recommended it to me and then brought me her copy! I've only read 57 pages but it's quite intriguing so far!

How is everyone's weekend?

CP, sounds like things are going a bit crazy in your neck of the woods! Our forecast is for snow to start on Sunday night and keep going through Tuesday. Luckily it's forecasted to be fairly light so even over 2 days, we should only get a few inches. I'm hoping for an early out Monday and a late start Tuesday. Together with our usual shorter Wednesday, Finals on Thursday and Friday, 1/2 day on Fri and a 3 day weekend, that would be just about awesome!!

Morning gnomies! Off to your fair country for the day! Gonna get me some groceries and my beloved Olive Garden! Hope you all have a lovely Sunday! :)

Have a great trip!! Enjoy your Olive Garden, have a breadstick for me!!!!

Jackie...are you snowed in???? Has it hit yet?? We had rain this morning and the temps are pretty low but I think we are safe from any freezing rain!!!!! Hope you guys are staying warm!!!

Hope you get your short week Katie, that would be awesome for you!!!

I'm stressing about my time out this 6 weeks (4 whole blocks I will be gone) but it will all work out in the end my students are doing awesome their first week back and I'm hoping to continue the trend!

Katie, people are acting crazy around here. After all it is snow and the threat of ice. It isn't supposed to start until tonight, so we will see what happens. It has been known to bypass us entirely.

Jen, not snowed in yet -- today I will be making cookies and working on Chelsea's honors application for high school with her.

Stacey, have fun shopping today!

I've read one book by Kate Morton...The House at Riverton which I loved and then I read her other one....I can't remember the title and just couldn't get into it and stopped after about 70 or so pages.

There is a part of me that is in denial about the whole thing. There is no way my baby girl is going to be starting high school in eight months!

I had lots of fun in high school, too. It was a much better experience than middle school.

You couldn't pay me to go back to middle school....never never again!! I did not like it!!!!!!

Olive Garden plans thwarted by whiteout conditions in Strathroy....we had to turn around after about 20 minutes on the highway....stupid snow!

I'm quite grateful that we don't have to do that extra transition here in Canada! I don't understand it....elementary school and then highschool is enough! I can't believe Chelsea is high-school aged!! Where does time go?:confused3

Oh No Stace!! That is horrible! At least you made safely back home!!! Hope you made plans to reschedule!!!!!

I'm not too worried about it...I live less than an hour from the border to Port Huron, MI so it really doesn't take much to go there. You can really just hop in the car and go and it takes nearly that long to get to half the places in the city anyway! The roads weren't that bad yet, it was visibility really...but near Strathroy and Komoka Ontario, it's a lot of open field and farmland so it just blows around with no mercy!

Maybe I'll go on a day off in the next couple of weeks! As long as I pass my driving test on Tuesday!:scared1:

Hi all! I'm back! I've been busy with all sorts of stuff! I have Blake's family on the Biggest Loser competition right now. Their first post weigh in was today and of the 13 people that weighed in, they lost 60.5 lbs! His step-dad lost 10, mom lost 4.5, Blake lost 4.5, sister lost 4.5....they are kicking butt!! I figure it's one good thing I can do to rally them all together!!

I finally heard back from my master's advisor. They sent back comments on friday, I turned it back in last night and it should be my LAST draft. After I hear back from them this week, cross your fingers! They should just want me to print it on thesis paper, mail it to them and it should be off to the graduate school to get printed. I can NOT tell you how excited I am going to be to get this thing off my shoulders.

All in all...good start to the year so far! Miss you all! Hope you're holding off from that snow! We got about an inch yesterday and what Jackie is getting now, we should be getting tuesday. Yikes!

YAY for the weight loss!! That's awesome!!! I am doing the Biggest Loser Challenge on the DIS and I lost 3.2 lbs this last week!! I am very excited about that!!!

WOOT WOOT....you are almost done Jess!! That is great news!!!!!

YAY Jen! I saw your little sig in your profile, how cool is that?! How many dis people do you all have doing this? SO cool!

I KNOW right! I can NOT wait to get this thing done!!
