Hi there, I'm not sure if I am posting in the right place, please let me know if I am not...

I eat gluten-free and I am wondering if things like gluten-free hamburger buns or gluten free pasta etc., is readily available at all restaurants? QS, TS & Signature.

We have made our ADR's but I won't know what I want to order until I sit down at the restaurant obviously. It's our first trip to DW, so I want to be sure I know all I need to know.

Anyone have any idea?

Thanks!

You'll find you have tons of options. Disney seems to be catering to the GF crowd for now. The hamburger and hot dog buns are Udis. Enjoy Life and OMG...It's Gluten Free snacks can be found at some of the restaurants. Gluten free pasta is available at most TS locations. The rice noodle bowl at Kona is especially good. GF pizza is likely to be Amy's brand. If you like soy milk, the current brand Kikkoman Pearl is not guaranteed GF. The TS usually have rice dream or tofutti ice cream available or they'll have a fruit sorbet. The sorbets vary between restaurants. GF Mickey waffles can be found in the resort food courts and many of the breakfast TS; though I've gotten Van's waffles at Crystal Palace before.

Make sure you note on all your ADRs that you're gluten-free. If you've already made ADRs, call and have it added to your ressies. A chef will come out to meet you at all the TS locations to go over the menu/buffet and come up with a safe meal for you. AT CS, ask a CM for the allergy binder. They'll call a manager and you can look while you wait. The manager will call the allergy order to the chefs and many will go back and check on them. The CMs really do go out of their way to help those with allergies.

Great info, thank you! :thumbsup2

We have already made our ADRs and we did note that I am gluten-free. My concern was that they may not have these things readily available when I arrive. Like say I go to a counter service restaurant and I want to order a burger, will they have the gf buns there all ready to go? Or if I want a pasta dish at a signature, will they have gf pasta there to subsitute. That sort of situation. Maybe I am worrying too much :)

Thanks again. I have tried most of these brands. I have not tried OMG or the Kikkoman soy milk, I don't think we have them where I live in Canada, but I am sure they will be good!

I think you are worrying too much. My husband has been gf for almost thirty years and we are frequent Disney visitors. Sometimes we know where we are going to eat; sometimes we don't and it's never been a problem.

It may take longer but that is not because they are out hunting down the food; it is because they are starting fresh with a clean work surface to insure no cross contamination. You pretty much have to let the chefs tell you what is available and go for there...sometimes they ask what you want and they will tell you what they can do.

Overall for gf it's a relatively easy process. We have a condo nearby and sometimes just stop in for supper because my husband has his favorite counter service spots.

I can echo what everyone else has said. WDW is really the best for food allergies and GF is a snap there. All of the counter service locations have gf buns, and it's pretty rare that QS or Table Service restaurants don't have something on hand. If you are really concerned, you can always contact the table service restaurants directly by contacting special diets (if you know you want something particular), but in general, you'll be just fine. Ordering GF is really easy at WDW, and they're really able to adapt and handle requests.

Hope that helps! :thumbsup2
