Gluten free people, have you been getting takeout/delivery?

I haven't had any restaurant food (except for ice cream a couple of times) since early March.

Hubby and I are both very gluten intolerant, and we're always really careful about where we eat. We're considering getting a nice restaurant meal for my birthday, either curbside pickup or delivery, but it makes me nervous because I don't know if it's too much to hope that the restaurant would be careful enough with my order that I wouldn't get glutened from cross contamination. Like maybe the restaurants are under too much pressure already without thinking about gluten on top of mask wearing and social distancing and everything else they have to worry about right now.

Am I worrying about nothing? If I order from a place that I would normally trust to keep my safe from gluten, will I be ok?

I'd love to hear other gluten free people's experiences lately.

My daughter has celiac, and we order out once a week, Chinese, pizza, Italian, thai, bbq... It’s always a gamble. The only food issue she’s had was when she accidentally ate leftover buffalo Mac and cheese that I made, regular and not the gf. She had no reaction, but apparently that can be the case for those with celiac who strictly follow the rules, she was diagnosed 10 years ago.

I'm not gluten free, but my friend is. She has ordered throughout this entire pandemic. She lives in a larger city than I do, so she has her restaurants that she knows are always good to work with. If you have a restaurant you normally trust, I would say go for it. It is your choice, so do what you feel comfortable with.

I have been. I'm celiac but I'm also not overly concerned since I've been GF for 30 years now. Just take my usual precautions.

I have but I've just gone to places I already would go to. They keep messing up my order which is a pain when I get home but that's about it. I'd just double check that you're order is 100% accurate.

We have been ordering meals to go and out son and daughter eat gluten free. Not a severe allergy though. We order from Mod Pizza where they use the same oven for all pizzas. You know there is going to be some cross contamination.

My DD has a wheat allergy so is gluten free.
She orders from Mod Pizza, Red Robin with the gf bun, taco bell.
She orders food to be delivered from Schwan's. She says other than Mod, they have the best GF pizza. She is also a picky eater and doesn't like the grocery store ones.

Thanks for your thoughts everybody. We did get takeout, it was delicious, and I felt safe and taken care of!
