Gluten Free Dining at the Disneyland Resort: A Superthread

Thanks!

I don't remember off hand, but I thought someone mentioned it in this thread (probably pages and pages ago, lol). Hopefully they'll come back with the answer again!

Take a look at the very first post. While it is subject to change it is a good place to start.

Plaza Inn, Storytellers & Goofy's Kitchen all list having GF waffles - not sure if they are "mickey" or not.

Thanks. I did look at those menus. Was just wondering if anyone had any recent experience. Looks like I'll be booking a character breakfast too! :rolleyes1

We did M&F at Plaza Inn Oct. 2012 and the GF waffles were indeed Mickey waffles then. Kids were excited to get them!

Just went to DL yesterday and they don't give out the GF menus at City Hall anymore. Ate at Tomorrowland Terrace and asked about GF bun for burgers and chef personally came out to take order, make our food separately to prevent cross contamination and possible mix-up AND give us our food :) All 5 of us are GF/DF so this was awesome :)

Hi! I was also there yesterday. I had the gluten free apple pancakes for breakfast at the Carnation Cafe - they tasted good but were a little dry, however the fresh apple compote they were served with was excellent!! They said they could have made me a Mickey waffle but it would have taken 25 minutes.

For dinner we went to the Blue Bayou and I had the salmon, which was excellent. However, I wanted to share that they don't any have any gluten free dessert, which was a little disappointing since we were celebrating my birthday, but all in all the food was excellent. I also loved the gluten free rolls, served warm!!

A couple of weeks ago we couldn't get waffles at Goofy's Kitchen. We got round pancakes which were delicious but no waffles.

Has anyone been to the princess breakfast at Ariel's Grotto lately? I was wondering how it is for GF ordering, mainly how long it takes.

We're headed back in September, and this will be my first "official" GF trip!

This is an awesome thread! Thanks for all the amazing comments and information!!

Thank you so much for these lists. My husband has recently found out that he's gluten intolerant, so this is extremely helpful.

Just remember that this is only a starting point. Since they are no longer updating the lists check with them to be certain that the items you are ordering are still GF.

The first thing we did at any restaurant in Disneyland was tell the waiter/CM we had a gluten allergy, the chef always then came out and walked my DS through exactly what was available to her on the menu & alternatives that he could make.

We were there last Nov and dh and dd are GF. As previous posters mentioned, the chef will come out and chat with you about your options. The rolls/buns at several counter service places (tomorrowland terrace) would take about 20-30 minutes (if I remember correctly) so we skipped those.

The Grand California Hotel was the BEST place we ate!! They have GF Mac n cheese, GF waffles at breakfast... Excellent food and service!! Highly recommend!!

My peeps are not celiac, so they had rice crispy treats and loads of goodies throughout the park-truffles, caramel apples, ice cream.... Plenty in which to indulge!

I do wish there were GF cupcakes available at the various bakeries, that would be really nice!

It's very doable! The Mickey ice creams on the stick are still our favorite!

We were in DL the middle of Sept for a couple of days. DD has celiac and has to eat GF.
We went to the Asian QS place in CA. DD was able to get the chicken and rice she wanted. We brought GF soy sauce with us and she enjoyed her meal.
We also went to Blue Bayou for lunch. The chef came out and let her know what they could make GF. I think she had the salmon. She enjoyed her meal.

I wish DL had the allergy binders at the carts and other places like WDW. It would have been easier. She wanted a caramel apple from the candy store in DTD, but they couldn't tell her if it was GF. DH went and looked on the internet after we got back to our hotel and found out it was safe. So, she got one another day and was fine.

Does anyone know what the gluten free candy options are on the treat trails during MHP? thanks

I am do happy I found this thread! We are frequent WDW travelers and are planning our first GF vacation to Disneyland. The info provided and reviews are so valuable to our family. Thank you and keep any information (or tips) coming.!

Hi everyone -- thanks again for all the helpful information.

We were at PPH in late August & stayed CL. They had gluten free bagels at breakfast time and told my DH if he called to request it they would have GF appetizers out for him in the evenings. We didn't go for the evening treats, so can't report on that. Not great poolside offerings for GF folks, so one afternoon DH went inside to order a burger (sans bun) and salad.

We had the most amazing meal at Napa Rose -- sat at the Chef's Counter and had a wonderful experience. Gluten free was very easy there and I think had we sat at a regular table it would have been the same. Creative, perfectly executed food. And a nice gluten free bread offering for DH as well.

We also ate dinner at Wine Country Trattoria (early! we got a great view of the Pixar Play Parade and then the restaurant was jam packed by 6pm). DH had GF pasta and it was fine.

Overall, counter service was fine. We knew some better options before going thanks to all you great DISers. CMs were friendly and accommodating when we requested GF.

Thanks again to everyone for information and guidance!

Does anyone know if the macaroni and cheese on the kids menu at Cafe Orleans is available gluten free? I think you can get rice noodles for the spaghetti, but what about the Mac and cheese? Dd loved the mac at storytellers.
