GLOW II: The Bounceback... Multiple Meets!!!.. First 1/2 of Sept 2008

Bonz,
Sorry to hear about your DM. She and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Sending a boat load of pixie dust your way. May the rest of your year get better too.

Ang

Bonz, I am sorry to hear about your mom's cancer. The only good thing is that is a type that can often be taken care of. My bestest friend in the world was a 20 year breast cancer survivor and she was not young when she got it. I hope your mom is slight of frame, up top at least, as that seems to help in recovery.

You can do a search for 'Lowe's coupons" and get $10 off $25-$50 purchase most all the time. The patio furniture will be going on sale in a few weeks at the end of this season. I want one with the fire pit coffee table.

Ang, my husband bought me pierced earrings once. We had been married for about 20 years at that time and I have never had a pierced anything. That was actually one of the better things he has gotten me. I buy my own nowadays. I always get what I want too. My birthday is next Friday and while I had plans to go to Ohio and be with my sisters things have changed so I will take myself out for my BD. I will hold my own hand and if I get fresh I will slap my own face. Has always been thus. :upsidedow \

Lucy and I chatted up a storm about our trip yesterday. We are so well suited that we can even wear each others clothes. Her husband is getting interested and wants to think about them going together next year.

Diva Kristin, what would a diva do if she had to celebrate her birthday alone cause her family never remembers? It cannot be food centered though as that is my weakness and I have gained nearly ten pounds with my medications. :scared1:

BTW, I have never let a special occasion go uncelebrated for anyone else. Heck, I have even been known to do something for Groundhog's Day.

I have my September trip to look forward to. :cheer2:

SG

My Mom has just been diagnosed with breast cancer, surgery on the 28th. Please say a prayer:guilty:

Sorry to hear about your mom's diagnosis. I wishthe best for you and her.

SG, my birthday is a couple of weeks after Christmas so it always gets ignored. Since you don't want to treat yourself with good, how about something else that is indulgent and frivilous. Maybe a manicure, massage or other spa treatment?

How about getting a manicure and/or pedicure?!?!? Some divas love a massage although I've never had one! :cutie:

I know its a HUGE sacrifice but for you Linda, ANYTHING!!!:rotfl2: Have a wonderful birthday (did you get my cake pictures BTW?) and we will celebrate your very merry unbirthday in Sept.:yay: :yay:

Pooch, how in the world could you bear to cut into one of your cakes? That is a work of art. I inspected each and every rose and there was nothing but sheer perfection and confection. Awesome! I am glad we do not live closer as I would be too tempted. :worship:

Diva Kristin and Figment, I fear I am not the spa kind of gal. Power tools, electronics and such are my things. I would buy myself one of those new Netflix things that put the movies on your TV screen for my birthday. Not big bucks, under $100. I just might do that. I love documentaries, old movies and foreign films. I am a complex creature. I have good friends who would invite me out for my birthday but I am embarrassed to tell them what my family is like. I told my daughter I was going to DW alone and she looked at me and said "A whole lot of "I" in that huh"? Yep, it is all about ME. For two weeks any old way.

Kellie, I love the tag. If you can not reach folks with plain pink ribbons you should KNOCK(er) some sense into them, keeping them aBREAST of what any **** should know. :rolleyes1 If I ever have problems in that area they better take both off cause otherwise I will have a hard time walking in a straight line.

Bonz, how is your mom handling the situation? Please let us know how it is going and we will be keeping her in our hearts and minds until she is back on the mend. :lovestruc

I have more bushes to trim today and it will be in the 90's.

SG

Bonz, how's your mom holding up, Hon?

Linda, when, exactly is your BD? Is it now, or during our trip?

Thanks Keli!

I updated my blog on Levi's site, but, here's a warning, I'm having one of those days.

I'm not a spa treatment person either. I've never had a manicure/facial, etc. But I have friend who swear it's fun. I'm low maintenance, I finally remembered to get my hair cut for the first time in six months.

aksunshine, I just saw your blog. I'm so sorry that happened to you.

Alicia, I am sorry you are having one of those days. Memories, precious as they might be, can cause a bit of bruising that you will never totally get over. I think there is a hump when the pleasure is more than the pain though. Everyone has to reach that pinnacle in their own good time. Are you bringing your scrapbook with you?

Figment, I like having my hair fussed with but wouldn't you know it I have naturally curly hair that requires little to no care. :lmao: I have to have it cut nearly every month though or I start to look like a Yeti. I forgot that the new TV;s have a computer hookup so I do not need the Netflix box.

My birthday is before the September trip but at my age what does a few weeks matter? Would only matter to my dear mom if she had to carry me for those weeks. She never forgave me for the pain I did give her. :rotfl:

It is so hot here that I nearly burned my feet walking out to the garage to take the trash. :scared1:

Ahh...Techno Diva! :lmao:

You mean a DVD player? I have to ask my son for help if I want to watch a DVD!
I have good friends who would invite me out for my birthday but I am embarrassed to tell them what my family is like.
I am sorry to hear that....why can't you can invite them out to lunch to celebrate your birthday! :bday:
I told my daughter I was going to DW alone and she looked at me and said "A whole lot of "I" in that huh"? Yep, it is all about ME. For two weeks any old way.
The Disney Divas are grateful that our families understand we need a little girlfriend time! :grouphug:

Take it easy! :goodvibes

I don't believe it....I have naturally curly hair too! Is yours strawberry blond too??? We are meant to be diva/sisters!!!

Try to keep cool! :cold:

My Mom has just been diagnosed with breast cancer, surgery on the 28th. Please say a prayer:guilty:
I don't know all of you very well yet (Linda and I just sorta clicked...probably much to her dismay!) but I wanted you all to know that I am feeling silly talking about hair and mani/pedis while so many of you are suffering for one reason or another...I don't want any of you to think I am petty or don't care if I don't focus or comment on these things...dispite the diva title, I do care and I am reminded to be grateful for my family and our health...prayers, thoughts and hugs go out to you all today!

Diva Kristin, I am a bit tech savvy. I have been working with computers since 1966. Please be kind and NOT tell me how many years that was BEFORE you were born. :lmao: I repair VCR's so I know how to operate them as well. I taught my kids, well, one of them, the one who wanted to learn. :cool1:

Actually my hair, dark brown with some strands of gray, well earned at that, is not so much naturally curly as it is the fact that my head is wavy. I used to hate it but have learned that I are lucky and have saved big bucks through the years.

I decided that it was far too hot to do any outside work today. I figure the grass will shrivel up and not need mowing in a couple of days anyway. :scared1:

Netflix's box is a connector between the laptop and the TV so that you can see the movies on the TV screen as opposed to the smaller laptop screen. The new TV's come with an USB port etc. so you do not need the box. I love the idea. As soon as I get back from DW I plan to hunt me down a Samsung and then a Wii. I are cool, ya know??:dance3:

My family is so used to me being at their beck and call it would never occur to them that I need any time off. Only folks who earn a paycheck get that sort of recognition. :confused3

I have plenty of friends in a similar situation to mine and they would never let anyone know either. I have thought of having a club for us orphaned parents at the holidays. My family would never notice as long as I make sure they get their gifts. Yes, I would like a bit of cheese with my whine.:rolleyes1

I believe that you younger gals who take time for yourselves are smart and more appreciated. Good for ya! :cheer2:

You only get old when you stop learning and I have so much more to learn. :flower3:

SG/who is going to get Subways for dinner so she does not have to cook. I have coupons. My grandson is delighted. We had a big lunch. Burp!

Diva Kristin, I am humbled and honored.

I am sure that everyone understands. We all care about each other and everyone shows it every day. :grouphug:

It is also good to have a bit of silliness in order to escape from the troubles of the world too though. That is why they allow me to hang around. :joker:
