Hi everyone, not posted for a while but hopefully we will be back to Florida in August 13. I wondered if anyone had any experience of Globehunters, they are by far the cheapest virgin flights on offer however the reviews for this company on trip advisor are very mixed. Any help would be appreciated

It's not that the reviews are mixed - it is the nature of the complaints for the negative reviews that sent alarm bells ringing ...!!

I also found them coming up well cheaper when I was searching. One of those sites you have to phone (I am always suspicious of phone only sites lol)

Anyway I decided to phone and see. So I randomly picked some flights and called to enquire. They confirmed the price and then when they asked if I want to proceed I asked for the final total and it had rocketed sky high from what was before me on the web page. I hung up and called back and did the same again (I know -copious amounts of free time on my hands that week :lmao:)

I had a bit of fun with it, completely intrigued. Whether they are genuine I cannot tell. They may well have had legitimate reasons for this but reports on other review sites had consistent complaints about their flights being cancelled by Globehunters, never getting an e-ticket, money being taken out of the account twice .....

Rude staff, slow service, etc are to a certain extent the perception of the person writing the review. Not getting your eticket or having your reservation cancelled days before you fly and turning up at the airport with no booking, having paid ..... that is another matter and I was not willing to risk it

As Lee says they are one of these companies that have you ringing to book. Have you rung and confirmed final price? I suspect the final price is same or more than VA direct.
Personally I will only book online so I know I have entered all details correctly. So not a company I would use, especially with the reviews.

Did a quick search on their address, looks like a lockup type property in Wandsworth, can't really tell from Google maps.

Oh yes .... that was another thing!! :rotfl: Also, they are almost certainly not based in the UK (at least their call centers are not). Some of the agents simply had a heavy accent. Others were barely comprehensible and had trouble following the most basic of sentences .......

Personally, having considered booking through a third party agent, I eventually realized with all the questions that I was posting that if I didn't go for one of the big ones (Expedia, Travelocity, etc) then it was going to be direct through the airline

Off topic, just a word of warning with regards to "call centres not in the UK"... I used to work for Debenhams call centre and I worked in a team with 2 Indian guys. As soon as they said their names, with their mid-Indian accent, some customers used to get angry and say they wanted to speak to someone English. Thing is, these boys lived in Taunton all their lives!
Sorry, it was offtopic! Xx

Thanks guys, I knew I would get some advice on here. That was my gut feeling but it just makes you wonder , especially as flight prices are so high at the moment
