Glennbo’s City, Sand, and Savanna PTR - TR Link (pg 73)

 I told my DH about the Judy sighting game and his exact response was "so this guy is putting up pictures that you have to scrutinize to locate the number of pics his wife is in?" I said YES, isn't that funny? He just kinda shook his head in a way that made me feel he doesn't truly understand the game.:sad2:

:rotfl2: Funny I feel I would get the same looks. :rotfl2: I think I tried to explain it once and I stopped after the look. :lmao:

I can't even begin to explain the victory dance I do when I am first with the right answer.:cool1: :rotfl2::rotfl2:

The ADR's look great, but I can't imagine why the men on the trip would want to miss out on the cucumber sammies. :rolleyes1 :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

:rotfl2: Funny I feel I would get the same looks. :rotfl2: I think I tried to explain it once and I stopped after the look. :lmao:

:laughing:Ya, his look certainly was one of confusion! I tried to re-explain it and still I got the same look. It really is funny, the game, but I think he just couldn't appreciate it! I even explained how there's a Rules Committee and the great debate on reflective Judys, parts of Judys, etc. and well, he looked at me like I was insane.:laughing:

You're ADR's look great! I have never eaten at any of the ones you have chosen, though. I'll eventually make my way around. We try to change it up a bit and the only one that is an absolute must for us is Ohana. We love that place.

We were there just two weeks ago for One More Disney Day. When you're at the Poly you should try a Backscratcher if you haven't already. I can't remember what is in it but it went something like this: 5,000 shots of Rum, 1 shot of Jack Daniels, and a teeny tiny drop of fruit juice. It also comes with a wooden backscratcher. I took one sip and I was like: :scared: Haha. I think you will enjoy it.

OUTSTANDING ADR's Glennbo :cool1: ... reading through those made me itch for my own turn to call and get the ADR's set ... I haven't begun to discourse about them on my PTR but alas, we sure do have a plethora to make!!!

We've never done BOMA for dinner ... only breakfast ... sounds like you'd recommend it huh? :confused3

We're HUGE fans of the Biergarten ... mmmmmm!!! We're contemplating tossing in a trip to Via Napoli this time around ... any word on it?

So ... our "180 day" mark will either be this Thursday :scared1: or a month and a week from now (that's the "DILEMMA" referred to in my PTR title below)

I mean, how many chapters can I stretch the single subject of ADRs into?
Oh, I've seen it stretch to at least 5... not that I know anything about changing ADRs... :rolleyes1

It’ll be interesting to see what my parents’ reaction will be to the décor and all of the 50’s items.
:thumbsup2 Back before Leo came along, my then-DH and I took my mother there and she totally did that! "We had that same television!" and "Oh, Fiestaware - my mother always wanted that instead of the ugly 'good china' she wound up with..."

Monday is our Magic Kingdom day, but I didn’t make an ADR there. The Plaza and Columbia Harbor House are calling to me, and, but I’m thinking we’ll hit a counter service place.
Psst - you know I'm a long-time fan of CHH, and the food there's always been good, but they've upped the ante recently: when we went a couple weeks ago, I tried the new salmon/coucous/broccoli plate instead of my usual tuna sandwich and OMG, it was amazing! In case anyone in your group likes salmon. Trust V, it's a winner. ::yes::

“But you’ll have filled-up on Darjeeling and little cucumber sammies that afternoon”, says I.

She said, “Let me worry about that…just book it for early evening.”

I got a 7:05 ADR.
:lmao:

On Friday we’ll be at Harry Potter-land and probably having lunch at the Three Broomsticks or someplace like that.
Another tip - aside from every meal we've had at 3 Broomsticks being yummy, and aside from the immense fun of watching "things" happen in there while you eat, they have Butterbeer on tap. With no crazy line like the carts get.

I have a huge 24" screen at work and I've got this window maximized. Let me tell you those Onion Rings looked so yummy I almost knocked over my monitor!

Love the ADRs! And I think you should go to Columbia Harbour House in MK for your meal - but I'm biased - I :lovestruc that place! I think it's the upstairs combined with the food and the location. Malt vinegar for french fries - yum....

Yeah, you shouldn't even attempt to explain it to a non-DISer. Now, imagine what it was like when I had to explain it to Judy...:laughing:

On the first day of his vacation, our Glennbo gave to us...a much too complicated picture of Judy... Ok, that doesn't have a very nice ring to it.:headache: Darn it.

Hmmm, maybe that'll be for day 26?

We like both too. I could eat at either and be equally happy!

:thumbsup2

There CAN be gluten in sausage...wheat can be used as fillers unfortunately. It's so dumb. Why is wheat in everything??:confused3

Wow, I had no idea. That's a shame....you'd think you could avoid bread and rolls and pretzels and be good to go.

Why, are YOU buying them for her?

No, I meant the Grand Floridian china. Don't worry, she's not a klepto.

I've heard that a lot of people (particularly in the summer!) prefer the frozen too. We made some regular butterbeer at home when the last HP movie came out on DVD. Tastes like melted butterscotch! Yum.

Everybody loves them, that's for sure. I hope they're not too sweet.

Ya, DH wants this to be a budget trip which unfortunately means no WWoHP. Maybe I'll just buy the tickets and force him to go. Would that be wrong?

Yeah, it probably would. But should you anyway? Maybe!

Holy cow Glenn, you have an excellent memory! He did say that about Boma AND he forgot to load the overnight suitcase into our car. You know what, that just earned you a worthless bonus point! Glennbo: one bonus point!

:woohoo: I earned a Molly bonus point!

Yeah, I can remember the details of your trip report, but forget the names of people I've worked with for 20 years.
smiley_emoticons_confused.gif

He loves it. He also loves AKL and I think would like to live there permanently. The safari, animals and the general feel of the resort are perfect for him as he's always wanted to go on adventures. He's even said he'd love to climb Mt. Everest which sounds insane to me!

So, when you buy DVC, go with AKL! :yay:

Yeah, I have no desire to climb a mountain. I'm glad other people have, so I don't have to.

Breakfast is different. They have some African items like the bobotie which is similar to a corned beef type of dish that DH loved. Also there's some kind of porridge thing that he raved about as well, it looked kind of like corn meal but he deeemd it delish. What else...oh, delicious carved meats and African pastries plus that incredible juice.

They have bobotie on the dinner menu also. We'll just have to try breakfast there sometime.

:rotfl2: Funny I feel I would get the same looks. :rotfl2: I think I tried to explain it once and I stopped after the look. :lmao:

I can't even begin to explain the victory dance I do when I am first with the right answer.:cool1: :rotfl2::rotfl2:

There are some things that are just better kept to yourself!

Well, you certainly gave it the ol' college try....but somehow I think with more details he just got more worried about you.

The ADR's look great, but I can't imagine why the men on the trip would want to miss out on the cucumber sammies. :rolleyes1 :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

I know, I'm sure they will be delightful. But we have to let them have their "girl time".

You're ADR's look great! I have never eaten at any of the ones you have chosen, though.

Well, you need to get over there straightaway. :)

I'll eventually make my way around. We try to change it up a bit and the only one that is an absolute must for us is Ohana. We love that place.

I know, I was thinking of going back...you saw that I tried to get it in through the survey, but it didn't hold up.

But I haven't even had a lapu lapu yet! Which would you recommend first? (And I don't mean, which one first and the next as a chaser. I mean, which one this trip versus a later trip.)

OUTSTANDING ADR's Glennbo :cool1: ... reading through those made me itch for my own turn to call and get the ADR's set ... I haven't begun to discourse about them on my PTR but alas, we sure do have a plethora to make!!!

I'll bet you do, and a crowd to please.

We've never done BOMA for dinner ... only breakfast ... sounds like you'd recommend it huh? :confused3

Ah, yeaaaaahhhh.

We're HUGE fans of the Biergarten ... mmmmmm!!!

So are we...even more than I realized!

We're contemplating tossing in a trip to Via Napoli this time around ... any word on it?

What I've read is that people like the in-restaurant pizza better than the take-away window. No one seems to know why it seems to be different. The restaurant itself is loud...not a quiet meal. But that's what I've read; I can't speak from experience.

So ... our "180 day" mark will either be this Thursday :scared1: or a month and a week from now (that's the "DILEMMA" referred to in my PTR title below)

I saw the title change, but haven't had a chance to read the latest udpate. Yeah, that's quite a difference....I'll bet you want to lock that down so that you can make your ADRs and other plans, huh? (Here comes a big "Duh"!)

Oh, I've seen it stretch to at least 5... not that I know anything about changing ADRs... :rolleyes1

Oh yeah, I hadn't even thought of that!

:thumbsup2 Back before Leo came along, my then-DH and I took my mother there and she totally did that! "We had that same television!" and "Oh, Fiestaware - my mother always wanted that instead of the ugly 'good china' she wound up with..."

That's a great story! I'm sure that'll happen to us too. :rotfl2:

Psst - you know I'm a long-time fan of CHH, and the food there's always been good, but they've upped the ante recently: when we went a couple weeks ago, I tried the new salmon/coucous/broccoli plate instead of my usual tuna sandwich and OMG, it was amazing! In case anyone in your group likes salmon. Trust V, it's a winner. ::yes::

I just looked at the menu on Allears and it looks like there are a lot of healthy choices on there. I bet Judy would love that salmon/couscous/broccoli thing. Okay, another option! Thanks!

Another tip - aside from every meal we've had at 3 Broomsticks being yummy, and aside from the immense fun of watching "things" happen in there while you eat, they have Butterbeer on tap. With no crazy line like the carts get.

:thumbsup2 Yep, I've made a mental note on that from several TRs...either yours or Cynthia's or Magdalene's or Sooze's. That may be the only time I look like I know what I'm doing in that park -- when the kids want to get in line for a butterbeer and I say "C'mon, duck in here." ;)

I have a huge 24" screen at work and I've got this window maximized. Let me tell you those Onion Rings looked so yummy I almost knocked over my monitor!

:rotfl2:
Yeah, I was really happy with that picture when I saw it at home after that trip. And when I was writing that chapter I knew which picture I was going to include. ::yes::

Love the ADRs! And I think you should go to Columbia Harbour House in MK for your meal - but I'm biased - I :lovestruc that place! I think it's the upstairs combined with the food and the location. Malt vinegar for french fries - yum....

Fair enough. Between your and PrincessV's recommendations, it is officially in the running for possible selection on game-day! I'll have to be sure that I want to go there though, because if I mention that salmon/couscous/broccoli entree that V talked about, the die may be cast.

I just wanted to quickly comment on a couple things.

Boma breakfast--Kenya pressed pot!!! I don't care what else I have...that coffee is so stinking good.

Via Napoli--we ate there for the first time last trip and we loved it! We liked it so much that we ate there for an unplanned lunch a couple days later. We are going back again this trip.

We absolutely love Biergarten. We went to Germany for our honeymoon, so it always takes me back. Plus, if the band plays Edelweiss, it means I get about three minutes of quiet eating time because that song always makes my girls stop doing whatever they may be doing in order to listen.

Okay, so maybe not a quick comment, but I've been known to talk a lot.

But I haven't even had a lapu lapu yet! Which would you recommend first? (And I don't mean, which one first and the next as a chaser. I mean, which one this trip versus a later trip.)

Ooh...thats a tough one but I'd go with the lapu lapu if you've never had it before.

It won-out over Hoop de Doo in my survey, and comes highly recommended by Dan (FauntleroyFan07), so it better be good. ;)

i think you will really enjoy this show glenn.

dont be shy about ordering extra roads of the drinks, most of them are free...i had beer wine and the spiked punch stuff at one time
:thumbsup2

you guys will love the show.

and with how you like food, you should love eveyrthing they offer.

Okay, shoot.

Boma breakfast--Kenya pressed pot!!! I don't care what else I have...that coffee is so stinking good.

You're absolutely right, I forgot about that. Not that I've had it, but I've read other people's reviews and they loved it. And compared to the rest of Disney coffee :crazy2:, with the exception of Kona at the Polynesian, that is a pretty good reason to go.

Via Napoli--we ate there for the first time last trip and we loved it! We liked it so much that we ate there for an unplanned lunch a couple days later. We are going back again this trip.

Very high praise indeed. Let's see, who was asking about it <brief pause while I look> ah yes, Rob, My_Pal_Pluto. Did you see this Rob?

We do love Biergarten too. (Obviously, we're going for the 3rd time in the last 3 trips.) Are you girls big "Sound of Music" fans?

Okay, so maybe not a quick comment, but I've been known to talk a lot.

In that case, I'll consider this brief. ;) Feel free to say all you want here...just remember there's a 150 page limit and then we have to open a new thread.

"Poofed", huh? Let me guess what's coming next.

Like a fart in a hurricane.

Yep, I was right!

You know, I've done that. Well, I lived through a couple of hurricanes when we lived on the N.C. coast in the late '90's. And those storms take a couple of hours to pass, so the likelihood is pretty high. Just sayin'.

Gone with the wind.

Frankly my dear.

Yes. May it.

Or both.

Keep the children at a safe distance please. Somewhere around Rhode Island perhaps.

I guess we will never know.

I know I'm not! Well thanks for giving me a faint image of what you didn't write, and what might have been. :upsidedow

Oh, did you realize you have a typo in your signature? "hoepfully"

Glenn, you truly do have quite a following. I already am a DisMom Groupie and now I fell like I am a Glennbo Groupie.

Anyway, getting back to the important stuff, your ADRs look great. We were supposed to do Prime Time on our last trip for lunch when we had DXDP, but it was our last day and we were so full we were dying. Lesson learned to never do DXDP again even though my boys swore up front it was not going to be enough food. I guess I digressed again. I will be curious to hear your thoughts as it seems to have mixed reviews.

We have not been to Boma for a few trips. Really miss those Zebra Domes. Definitely will have to get there on our next trip. Good call by Judy.

Keep up the good work! Looking forward to reading more!

There's no way for me to keep up with you...I just don't get here often enough! I missed all your games, though I enjoyed reading about the results.

Your ADRs look great. I am jealous of the Boma and Flying Fish ADRs. The kiddos are too picky. We're actually travelling with very adventurous eaters, but our kids would be obnoxious. Actually, DH would be obnoxious at Flying Fish, too. Not a seafood fan. (Ok, he wouldn't be obnoxious - he'd be gracious - but it's obnoxious that I don't get seafood very often because of him. Does that work? ;)) Looks like you will be well-fed during your trip!popcorn::

And catching up on your posts also made me realize that I really need to get to work on our ADRs as well...ugh! Time is going WAAAYYY too fast for me at this point! I haven't even figured out my 180 days, and we've had our deposit down for several weeks. Such a disney planning slacker!

I've been missing all of the contests! :sad1:
I love how you sent survey out to the family members.
Only you could make reading such long result descriptions entertaining! :thumbsup2
We really loved Biergarten our last visit & I've been struggling trying to decide if we should go back or try something new. The kids really want to go back.
I'm jealous of your dinner show at the Poly. I want to try that so bad!!!!!
