TA DAHHHHHHH I proudly present.......

Hey Marv- How would you know what side of the bed I got up on? Don't let me catch you spying on me again.:scared1: :magnify: right side always the right side

You’ve seen the survey, and you’ve seen the results. You’ve even guessed which survey-taker was which Disney character. I guess it’s finally time to reveal what Advanced Dining Reservations I obtained. I mean, how many chapters can I stretch the single subject of ADRs into?

Of course, it should go without saying that I was all set and ready to make my reservations at the 180-day mark, which in my case was the day after Christmas. We were at my mother-in-law’s house that day and I tried to make the reservations on-line first, but there was some issue with that, the details of which I don’t remember, so I ended up making them by phone. With the various problems I encountered, I didn’t talk to a dining rep. until around 9:30, but that was okay.

For our arrival day, Sat. June 23rd, we’re planning on visiting Downtown Disney, so we’ll probably eat at Earl of Sandwich or Wolfgang Puck Express. No ADR necessary. :thumbsup2

The next day, Sunday, is our DHS day and we plan to have lunch there. This one was not in the survey. Judy and I talked about it and decided that our choices were between Sci-Fi Dine-In and 50’s Prime Time Café. She really liked Sci-Fi on our last trip, but with 7 of us in our group, we wouldn’t be able to fit everyone in a car, so we opted for 50’s Prime Time.

This was the scene of one of my favorite pictures from a couple of trips ago, when my nephew was force-fed his collard greens.

It’ll be interesting to see what my parents’ reaction will be to the décor and all of the 50’s items. They’ll probably say “I remember that”, and “We had one of those”, or “We wished we could have afforded one of those.”

My dad is a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy, so I’m sure he’ll like the menu options here. I know Judy will want to order some onion rings.

Monday is our Magic Kingdom day, but I didn’t make an ADR there. The Plaza and Columbia Harbor House are calling to me, and, but I’m thinking we’ll hit a counter service place. I know there are big fans of Casey’s out there, but Judy would never eat a corn-dog. I think we’ll try either Gaston’s Tavern in the new Fantasyland or Pecos Bill’s in Frontierland. Gaston’s would be good to try something brand new, but I know some of you out there have described how to make a meal out of the Pecos Bill taco salad and fixin’s bar. Wherever we go, it’ll be a “game day decision”.

ETA: The Beauty and the Beast section of the new Fantasyland isn't projected to open until late summer, so Gaston's Tavern probably won't be an option when we're there. "Bad planner!"

On Tuesday we’ll be at Animal Kingdom and I think we’ll bring sandwiches with us into the park. It’s a nice park to just find a table and eat, and bringing lunch in is a great way to save some bucks.

All right, here we are 4 days in and only 1 ADR. Don’t worry, it picks up from here.

Tuesday night is our “special meal” evening from the survey. This’ll be my parents’ anniversary celebration, even though their official anniversary date isn’t until July. In the survey, Flying Fish, nudged-out a few other entries to score at the top. I got a 7:05 ADR to give us time to enjoy our day at Animal Kingdom, rest up, clean up, and get to the Boardwalk.

When I made the reservation, the Disney rep. asked if we’d be celebrating anything. I was like, “Oh yeah! My parents’ 60th wedding anniversary.” She couldn’t believe that she’d heard me correctly and asked, “Sixteenth?” I said “No, Six-ty-eth.” She was amazed and happy to note that on the reservation. Let’s hope the restaurant sends a little pixie-dust my parents’ way on that evening.

Wednesday is a non-park day. We’ll be sleeping-in, watching critters on the savanna, and swimming in the pool, but…the girls will have to get all gussied up and make their way over to the Grand Floridian for Tea at 2:00. 2:00 for tea, and tea for 2:00. (I think I have my chapter title all ready for that one when I get to the trip report.)

The internet is good for a lot of things, like supplying this photo for instance

I’ve seen some of the reports you DISers out there have posted about the Grand Floridian Tea, and I thought it’d be a really nice afternoon for my daughters to spend with their grandma and mother. :goodvibes

Us guys will be hitting Welcome Home Wednesdays at the Boardwalk and hoping we win a free hat or something, which is more fun to us than drinking tea with pinkies extended and eating itty-bitty sandwiches in multiple bites when we know darned well we could eat several of those sandwiches combined in one bite. Ahem...excuse me. I got a little carried away.

The next ADR was added later on with a separate call. Judy and I reviewed the reservations I’d made and she was incredulous that I hadn’t made a reservation at Boma, our favorite. I showed her the plan for the week and said that I didn’t know where I could fit in it.

She said, “Right there, Wednesday evening.”

“But you’ll have filled-up on Darjeeling and little cucumber sammies that afternoon”, says I.

She said, “Let me worry about that…just book it for early evening.”

I got a 7:05 ADR.

Hah! You thought I stole this photo...nope, I took it.

On Thursday we’ll be at Epcot. I’m sure you remember that in the survey, Biergarten was the easy winner here, despite my desire to try something new. Hey, I like it too, so no harm done.

I got a 1 o’clock ADR, anticipating that the band will start at 1:15, which is their current schedule. With any luck we’ll have been seated, gotten our first plate of snausages and kraut, and be back at the table in time to hear the first “oom-pah”.

On Friday we’ll be at Harry Potter-land and probably having lunch at the Three Broomsticks or someplace like that. But we have to be back on Disney property, attired in our Hawaiian shirts, and at the Polynesian by 8pm for the Spirit of Aloha luau and dinner show.

LuauSign.jpg

Yes, yes, I borrowed this one too. It's just a picture of a sign for cryin' out loud

It won-out over Hoop de Doo in my survey, and comes highly recommended by Dan (FauntleroyFan07), so it better be good. ;) With the 8 o’clock time I can use the Tables in Wonderland card for a discount (they don’t offer the discount for the earlier seating time) and if the timing works out, maybe we’ll finally watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach at the Polynesian as our trip winds down.

I have faith that you could have stretched out the ADR announcement even more!! Word search games?? Pictionary??

(See, now I'm just thinking of ideas on how to torment readers on a future PTR...:rotfl:)

Your ADR plans sound great! I agree with Judy, little teeny sandwiches are no reason not to visit Boma!

2 judys

I think you can peek out of the Luau to see the EWP and fireworks. I saw a couple of peekers as I walked the path from GF to the POLY.

You are driving right? Remember the bus situation at the Poly after the luau. All busses to everywhere and crowds galore. They will get you there but it might be a while.

You got some good eats Glenn.

Checking back in Glenn Bo ... I think I'm proving my .... errrrr ... prowess??? in these survey games huh :confused3

You're proving something. What, I have no idea.

Well, you only have 12 more to go. 11 after I hit submit. That shouldn't take too long.

Thanks for your help GB!

The time flew, especially considering I hadn't written anything yet.

Surely you are not thinking I'm not an  And yes I did just call you Shirley

You're onto me. My eyes read "Poolrat", but in my head I say "Shirley".

I think we can work on that. Like you were going to update anyway Marv..... Oh wait you are not Marv so you might actually do it and not tease us. :rotfl2:

Yeah, at least I got around to it!

Well, Molly said you two are in sync, so I think  is certainly off the table...... :rolleyes1

:headache: Who you callin' a tease???

Hey, that's between you and Pat...I'll just stay out of it.

I see what you guys are doing here.

Wish I could have replied, but that would have been counterproductive!

oh fine, be that way.

BUMP!

Cynthia too?! :faint:

Slow down, slow down. I was still writin'.

Well....this is taking longer than I expected. :surfweb:

You can't rush these things. But yet, you did. And you see how that worked out.

Glenn must be out cruising in the minivan.

No, not this time.

And ANOTHER post closer........

Annnnnnnnnnnnddddddddddddddddd.................. :surfweb:

I still had lots of time. 3 posts left. Coulda done replies before posting the update, but no.

TA DAHHHHHHH I proudly present.......

This was my favorite one, I gotta admit. :rotfl:

Hey Marv- How would you know what side of the bed I got up on? Don't let me catch you spying on me again.:scared1: :magnify: right side always the right side

One of my favorite comedians, Emo Phillips says, "You've got to get up pret-ty early in the morrrrnin'....

....to catch me peeking through your bedroom window." :rotfl2:
