Glee--anyone else not enjoying this?

Exactly. I get it, plenty. I was just appalled at the various sexual situations and conversations. My DD is 16 and she knows about sex. But I don't think we need a show with teenage boys sitting around discussing their...longevity, nor do we need to watch booty-dancing with simulated sex acts. My DD is in a show choir, which is what drew us to "Glee" to begin with. But it was really just tooo, tooo...sumthin'. It would be better on HBO.
Ummm, it's on Fox.

When I first saw the previews I thought it would be a great show for DD and I to watch together, I watched the pilot and decided then it wouldn't be for her...but I liked it.

I was working from home when the second episode came on and wasn't paying attention the TV - so DH asks me today....so...you really like that show Glee? I said eh I saw the first episode it looked pretty good why...he said uh you probably arent gonna like the second episode lol

He did tell me about the Push It dance too....oh my

I didn't think that it should be like HSM, I just thought from the commercials that it would be like it. I can't remember anything in the commercials that seemed like the target audience was 16 and up. After having watched it, I realize it. I am still going to continue to watch it for a little longer tho.

I think the previous poster knows that.....The point was that it would be better suited for HBO.
I guess that you missed my point.

Let me put it this way:

Everyone who thought Married with Children was child friendly, raise your hand. Now imagine how Married with Children would be if it was aired (on Fox) today.

I'm sorry, I guess I missed the memo where saying "UMMM it's on Fox." was called having a point.

I was curious about this and hoped to catch it in reruns since I'm devoted to my Syfy shows. It doesn't sound too promising though.

From the well-hyped previews, I was really looking forward to the show and thought I would love it.

Wrong.

I didn't even make it completely through the first episode. :(

Same here. Tried watching the tweet episode last week. Didn't have any tech issues whatsoever. But, honestly I gave up after a half hour and the wife being pregnant(yeah, right). Won't be going back.

Funny, it almost never fails that when critics fall in love with a show head over heels, I just go ehh.....

And the shows I love are the ones they wish would die. NCIS was that show for yrs. They couldn't figure it out. But Arrested Development was their personal God. I don't think so:rolleyes:

I'd still give it a shot. The DIS is the only place I am hearing negative stuff about it. Perhaps they were expecting HSM? In fact you may like it more since you wouldn't have high expectations.

I think everyone needs to relax a little.. everyone's entitled to their own opinions about anything and just because someone doesn't like the show doesn't mean they don't get it- they just simply dislike it.

I watched the pilot and thought it was going to be great but was letdown after this episode.. Typically I like shows like this but ehh.. I will try another week! :)

No I was definitely not expecting HSM. In fact if I thought it was anything like HSM I wouldn't have even given it a chance.

Speaking as someone who hasn't seen HSM, I can say it certainly wasn't that. And I will say that while I don't like the show I found some of the comments to be Oh So True especially from the Cheerleading coach. I just don't like it. I don't need it to be all butterflies and lollipops, but this show holds no appeal for me. Now HOUSE OTH, I love, just keep falling behind in watching.

Guys, just wanting to point out one thing.

Glee is satire. It's a parody. Therefore, it'll be cheesy, overdone, dramatic, and yes, even sexual. It's not going to be a family-friendly show. It's more HSM, PG-13.

With that said, I really enjoy it. I just wanted to clear it up a bit. :)

I love it!! It's my new favorite show. Jane Lynch is hilarious am Matt Morrison is nice eye candy. When he was singing 'Gold Digger"?

As a teen, I LOVE this show.

Maybe it's more directed to my audience? And thank God it isn't like HSM, I wouldn't have even touched it, then.

I don't think I can add anything else to this discussion that hasn't been said- it's a parody; it's a 9 PM Fox show.

This has definitely gone on my DVR.

What does everyone think the "target audience" is? I'm not sure. Seems like the story lines are for high school and up.

For some reason I don't think it is geared to a young demographic. The "kids" in the show--just don't seem "young" enough to me.

Even back when I watched the original 90120--the grownups playing the kids looked like kids. For some reason--these "kids" are meant to look like grownups. At least that is my perception.

I enjoyed it--though I did find this episode to be over the top with the chastity club and the aftermath of that.

I find the humor to be dark humor--and that doesn't suit everyone. I.e. the cheerleading coach simply cracks me up.

That point has already been brought up in the previous four pages. I think we are all on the same page about that. :thumbsup2

LOVE Glee! So glad there is finally a fun, entertaining show on. Not sure if this was mentioned but the lead girl (Rachel) was in Spring Awakening on Broadway. SHe was amazing in that. Love her in Glee too.

I think it's amazing -- I called my sister in the middle of it the other night to tell her to watch it. It was right after the guidance counselor catching the girl trying to throw up and not being able to because she doesn't have a gag reflex (and if you watched, you know what the next line was). And I got her voice mail, and my message was incomprehensible because I was shake laughing, so all she could understand was little squeaky noises.

>Did anyone catch the names on the pamphlets when Emma was talking to Rachel about her "bulimia"??

"My mom's bipolar and won't stop SCREAMING!" "So you have a hair down THERE"

Yes, it's crass, and occasionally horrifying. But in a good way :rotfl2:

That said, I probably wouldn't let younger kids watch it.

My friend and I are 16 and we really like this show. I saw it for the first time last night and I enjoyed it. It was fun to watch and talk about. We know it's very cheesey and the lip syncing is pretty bad, but that's what makes it a funny show to us.
