Samantha Stevens had to deal with nosey Gradys Kravtiz as a neighbor ~ what are your neighbors like? S

POOR ABNER!

I like all mine now, but I lived next to the MUNSTERS a few years back. S

I also have good neighbors now. One lady neighbor makes the best chicken and dumplings and rolls and pumpkin roll you have ever had!!:)

Now, my old neighbors... well, he beat his wife and we didn't know it:mad: and then his FIL shot him and killed him. It was a night I will never forget...:(

My son is my next-door neighbor...I think I like him pretty good:p

We have wonderful neighbors now, but when I was growing up, we had someone worse than Gladys Kravitz.

She was an older woman named Regina (or Old Lady Regina as we called her!). She lived across the street from us, and felt it was her personal duty to spy on all the kids in the neighborhood and report back to their parents. One time my older sister and I locked ourselves out and my parents were on vacation. (We were about 18 & 19 at the time). We remembered that we had left an upstairs window open, so we borrowed a ladder, climbed through the window and unlocked the door. No big deal. However, Regina called the police on us and reported a break-in. She knew darn well that we lived there. Then she made sure my parents heard about it the minute they got home.

She also would time us in the driveway when we said goodnight to our dates. The next morning she would call my parents and tell them that "Jill was in the driveway with a young man for quite a while last night, is everything ok?".

There are many more Regina stories, but I'm getting mad all over again just thinking abut it!

Most of my neighbors are my SO's family. Nosey doesn't even begin to describe them.

I decided a long time ago that I would live far enough away from family so that they had to get into the car and drive. Not within walking distance, and certainly NOT within their visiblity!!!!! My DH's parents lived about a 5 minute drive from us...close enough for us to walk to them should the need have arisen, but far enough so they would never walk to our house, due to their physical limitations. I remember horror stories from a co-worker who lived next door to her in-laws, and on her day off, she'd hear the hose go on at like 530AM, because her FIL was watering the garden and the grass!!!!!! My parents live about a 10 minute drive away, again, close enough so we can be there quickly, but far enough for privacy for everyone concerned.

As far as my neighbors(I think that was the original question;) )most of them are very nice. My next door neighbor on one side is single woman who is absolutley wonderful, and has become a dear friend. My neighbors on the other side are a very nice young family...cute kids, pleasant people, great to have next door. My back neighbor is also a single woman, again great, and again a great friend now as well as a neighbor. Diagonally behind to the right is a nice family who we get along with well. The only real problem is the diagonal behind left neighbor, who is a nut who hates my dog. This lady went so far as to call and complain the day that the town was repaving the road(think dumptrucks, jack hammers, asphalt chewing trucks, asphalt mixing trucks, asphalt rolling trucks---lots of noise, right?)because my dog was barking and it was disturbing her. I actually said to her "You mean to tell me that there are (all the above mentioned machinery) outside your house right now making all kinds of noise, and my dog barking is annoying you?" She replied ,"Yes". I replied "Well then YOU are a nut." That was my last encounter with this neighbor. I'm sure she loves me as much as I love her!!!!;)

We have a Gladys across the street from us. She seems friendly, but she knows all the comings and goings of the neighborhood which is kinda creepy.

I know alot of the neighbours and they are great(except for my next door neighbour,he enjoys soaking my dogs with the hose)I guess I could be considered a Gladys as my house is right at the street where everybody comes in and with an 8 foot picture window I see just about everything including my across the street neighbour having an affair and seeing the other guys wife come to the door looking for him.My neighbour(the husband of the woman having the affair)found out I had seen everything and asked me about it.Next thing you know the police are there and all heck has broken loose. This is what happens when you are a nosey neighbour.;)

LOL Kelly.....sounds like we live on the same street!:p Our neighbours on the one side of us went through something similar this past year and then on the "other" side of me we have what I call "The Osbourne family" living next door who also happen to own the dog from #$@&!!!!!

The folks who used to live in that house were like a mom and dad to us and we were soooo close but sad to say I lost them both as they passed away within a few years of each other.:( We're actually thinking of moving as the noise is really getting to us! Those of you who have wonderful neighbours...cherish them as they are like gold to you!:sunny:

We have good neighbors...we are close friends with the neighbors to the left of us. The neighbors to the right are nice, we just don't have much in common except that our daughters play together. The people across the street keep to themselves and we've never spoken.

Granted, this is a new neighborhood so everyone is still warming up I think. It is hard because we are relatively young and it is hard to find things in common with neighbors in their 40's or older. The neighbors that we are close with are our age exactly. We aren't big drinkers either and our neighbors seem to always be drinking. It's...interesting. They will take walks together at night with glasses of wine and trick or treat with their kids with booze. Never experienced that before. =P

Well, my next door neighbor hasn't left her house in about 10 years. Ooops, she did leave once, and that was to come barrelling down the street in her car in reverse at about 30 miles per hour, just in time to slam into my car. She went back inside after we exchanged insurance information and we haven't seen her since.

Her husband comes out every day, however. Every morning he comes out in his robe and his hard hat. Nevermind that he has been retired for many years, and as far as we know, he wasn't in construction.

They do make the neighborhood rather interesting! They are nice enough, though, and I do have to feel blessed that I don't have Gladys Kravitz living next door.

LOLOLOL I'm sorry but I just have to laugh. HAHA A robe and a hardhat. Too funny! My DH won't even answer the door for the pizza guy without being in full attire and hair done. I swear sometimes I married a teenage girl...but at least he doesn't go out in a bathrobe and hardhat. LOL I'm going to laugh about that for awhile. LOL

I had Doris ( a Gladys clone) next door. She let me know all the comings and goings of the neighbors. Made me stop to think, she was probably telling other neighbors of my comings and goings too.!!:p

I moved to another town in a condo, and both sides are pleasant people. We are not overly friendly, but it's nice living here.
