I took a tag from the Giving Tree at my church to purchase Christmas gifts for a child. The tag simply says "11 year old boy" and for what he wants - "toy". The gift should be between $20-$40. So my question for you all is what are the 11 year old boys in your lives into? Not sure if I should go with super heroes, Star Wars, maybe something sports related... any suggestions?

I was going to suggest the same thing -- Legos. You can play with them multiple ways/times, they don't require batteries, good for a wide variety of ages (if he's a "younger" 12 or an "older" 12, he'll probably still enjoy, can be used in conjunction with other Legos if he has some, so fewer worries that he might already have it.)

I work with a childrens charity and for 2 months all I do is fill wish lists- for an 11 year old boy I would go with legos, nerf, football, basketball, science type experiment things and a nice remote control car/helicopter.

I’ll be the lone LEGO dissenting voice. I have a 10 year old boy and he and his friends have all aged out of legos at this point. A fun outdoors game or cool video game (the kind with the handheld system and game in one) would be what they’re into now.

My 11 ds does not like Lego's never has. He really likes doing experiments, video games, anything Pokemon, and all of a sudden he is back into BayBlades.
