I am going on the Dream in a couple weeks with my friend and her son, as well as my 2 sons. I am Platinum so when my booking window opened I was on the phone with my friend (who is a first time cruiser) asking what she wanted to book (our kids were asleep by then). She wanted me to book the Frozen and the Princess M&G for us and our 3 kids - all boys, 2 teens and one pre-teen. I told her I was pretty sure my pre-teen didn't want to go, and my teen would definitely not go unless her son did. She thought they would all go if we could talk them into it, so I booked the slots for all 5 of us. Well, of course, the teens were like NO WAY and my pre-teen said, well, if you really want me to, but I don't want to.

So she and I are going to go (I've never done a princess M&G, I think it will fun to go with my friend and get photos). But online, I can't see a way to cancel some of us without cancelling all of us. There are some people on our cruise social media site who didn't get tix and they have small children they would like to take.

Can I just ask them to meet us and go in with us? Or will that not be allowed? I want to go, but I would forego it to let others go...but my friend, the first time cruiser, wants to go so I can't just cancel the whole thing.

I think that would work. We went in March and they just had a list of names. We gave them our last name and how many people to check off.

You were able to book for all of you? I thought you couldn’t book for people who weren’t Platinum until their booking window opens.

If the 5 of them are in the same room then they all book with Platinum.

You should be able to call DCL and have them cancel 3 of your spots without losing the last 2 for you and your friend.

CAN you keep the other 3 and try to slip in other people from a cruise group? Probably. Most people say that they just get the total number of people checked, not the names.

SHOULD you keep the other 3 and try to slip in other people? No. The moral/ethical thing is to release the other 3 spots and not use your Platinum status to 'jump the line' for other cruisers. (You can always let the people who you were going to bring know that you are calling in to cancel so they can go in and try to reserve the spots when they open back up.)

On first read of OP's post I thought "sure, why not" but then I read and agree with this. It is hard enough for first time cruisers (and even silvers sometimes) to book things at midnight on their day--if this becomes a "thing" where you get a leg up on others in your category via facebook it will be even worse. Just call and release the three tickets and let it be first come first serve for people when their window opens.

If you aren't able to call/don't want to, I'm sure you could stop by Guest services once you board to let them know that you will only need 2 tickets. This will open up spots for others and save you having to coordinate with others in your cruise group.

they just want the name of the primary reservation and the count. If someone in your room chooses not to go, and you replace them with someone in another room, they won't know or care.

They would need to check in with you if you are only giving some tickets away since they do mark names/staterooms as you check in.

Just turn them into guest services and say you don't need 3...they have wait lists of people of want them.

I am cruising on the Dream soon. We have tried to get tickets for the meet and greets but they are sold out. If you are able to free them up online, I know people like myself would appreciate it!

Have a wonderful cruise!

I just had a similar circumstance. I called and the call center sent me to IT and they just took the name off of the reservation. Online, yes, it's all or nothing, but they were very helpful.

When we have done the meet and greets in the past, it was very casual as to who exactly had the booking and was assigned the tickets, once we arrived at the scheduled time. They were more interested in the number of tickets our party had, and we were free to switch people around. In one case, we gave two of our tickets away to someone who was just standing there watching with their child (I guess they were unable to get tickets). Another time, someone gave my husband a ticket because they saw him standing alongside watching me and special-needs brother get our pics taken, and thought he might want to be in the pictures.
