Gisselle & Jose: June 24th, 2012 <3

Okay, after what you mentioned on my PJ I had to come back and look at your pictures again... and of course! Harry Potter! Looks like you've definitely got Order of the Phoenix there, and I think Half Blood Prince underneath it? :rotfl2: Haha just another touch that I love!!

:lmao:

I also had some Twilight in there for the twi-hards & a little Sophie Kinsella for my shopaholics!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the pics!!! They are amazing!!!

Thanks girl! :)

Cinamonn is the name they are wanting to use since it uses her name CINdy and his name eAMONN. Kind of like a Brangelina with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie? They thought it was cute and catchy... but they don't have a website or anything. The pictures they posted of our e-pics are just on their FB... if you would like to see more I can post them on here. (& I will be taking more on Saturday night) But really they don't have their own business or anything, they are just thinking of starting something since they have gotten such great reviews- they also really enjoyed doing our shoot and already have all the gadgets. So why not?

They will be flattered to know you tried to look them up. :lovestruc

I have been trying to get my ideas together so that I can start working on my DIY... but am having trouble deciding what to do. The thing with my theme is that it can easily go from a fabulous Vintage Carnival Wedding... to a childrens Carnival Birthday Party!!! I guess what I am worried about is that in lieu of making it a fun, laid back event that is equally as beautiful that it will become too cheesy? :confused3

So here is what I have so far-

Escort cards:Originally I had my heart set on having candy apples as my escort 'cards' but am discouraged by the idea of having to pay $4.00+ a piece. Thing is, I am not planning on having any favors because we plan to have two caricature (sp?) artists there. Thats the one thing DF and I decided on when first considering the Carnival theme. I think it is a great keepsake that most of them will actually use!

I have since been googling for some more ideas- and I found:

escortcardidea.jpg

I think they should not run me $4+ each, so it is a cheaper alternative.

Cake: We really like the mad hatter design. & I found this:

cakeidea.jpg

I plan on only doing two tiers and getting a sheet cake to cut costs too, so would like to use the striped tier as our bottom white with the teal/ blue color stripes (the way our newsletter looked) and then some sort of banner like sign with our names (probably like the one on our newsletter two) for the top tier I was thinking the polka dots, with some hidden/ not so hidden mickey heads.

Centerpieces:: This is a hard one! I have been googling A LOT for ideas and still cant seem to find anything that incorporates something classy/ vintage with a Carnival touch. These are the two ides I have found-

What do you think? Please be completely honest- and if you have any other ideas, they would be very appreciated! :)

TIA

Hey! So I have been trying to deal with some of the same things you have, in terms of making everything seem sophisticated and not like a kid party, with my fairy tale theme. Anyway...

I love love love the pinwheels for escort cards! They are so cute, and so much fun.

As for the centerpieces... I'm not super crazy about the first one, because it kind of looks like two different centerpieces combined in a way... I mean the bottom part looks so much more formal, and then there are the "fun" things sticking out of it. I really do like the second one, with the table name done in a fancy frame, but if you did that I think maybe you should look into some sort of base, or figure out a way to incorporate the flowers in the background into it to make it a real centerpiece?

Here are some other ideas I found. Obviously they would have to be done in your colors though...

This one is cute, but it might be a little too "little kid." But, I think if you used only dum dums to your colors it might have a better effect... though that could be hard to get...

This one I really like because it uses flowers, so it still gives that wedding feel, but the vase or jar is filled with candy (jelly beans, it looks like) to give it a more carnival feel. Again, obviously this would be done using your colors:

You may hate both of these suggestions but I figured I'd throw them out there to try and help. Good luck making your decision!

I'm really in love with that cake!! I think it goes wonderful with your theme!!
And the pinwheels are way cute!!
I like the 2nd centerpiece :)

One of the teachers that I work with went to a wedding over the weekend, and it was a carnival theme so it made me think of you! She said the centerpieces were flowers, but they used the red and white striped popcorn bucket things (do you know what I'm talking about?), and put colorful flowers in them. Something else to consider!

I love the theme! I love individuality and themes are awesome (just tastefully done, as you said).
Everything looks great, just wish I could see the dress photos :sad1:
I'm sorry about the bridesmaid situation. I really like the advice that was given about casually asking her intentions. This is your wedding and there should be no one in it that is going to spoil it for you. Even if it is only the bridesmaid dress shopping.
Can't wait to see more as things develop! :)

It's funny that you mentioned that the first centerpiece looks like two put together, I found that pic from a wedding bee post and the girl mentioned she did some editing and added two centerpieces together... so that is exactly what it was! I really wasn't two happy with the design, but I figured I would put it out there anyways.

Thanks for your suggestions. I like #2 the best, it looks gorgeous with the color scheme as is, but idk how it would look with my colors. :confused3
I also like the popcorn bucket idea, I know exactly what you are talking about. ;) This was my original idea, I think theres something similar on my inspiration pics. That girl stacked the popcorn bucket with the flowers on a few ticket rolls. It looked cute for her outside venue considering she was actually at a carnival, but since I plan to use ADH I feel like it calls for something a little more sophisticated. Maybe I can still use the buckets somehow?

Thanks, DF liked the cake. I think we are going to go with it, hopefully DFTW will not have a problem with it! :)

I am also in the process of gathering all of my supplies to start working on the pinwheels!!

Hi Sarah,

Thanks for stopping by!
Not sure why you couldn't see the dress picture? I will try to re-post a pic. :)
Thanks for the advice on the BM situation. Luckily, everything is under control... she hasn't gone to try on her dress yet, BUT she has tried to get me to go with her and I have been the busy one. Maybe I overreacted because of our previous small fued... my bridezilla must have taken over. LOL.

I have decided I am going to have at it with my first real DIY project, two projects actually.... and I am VERY excited:

pinwheel escort cards:
We decided to go with the pinwheel escort cards, I think they will be cute and if they come out nicely a lot more cost efficient than some of the other options we were looking at.

So far, I order blue and white striped paper straws:

STRAWS.jpg

They were $5.25 for 100 of them plus the shipping and handling (which was $8.00) BUT for 100 straws at $13.25, I cannot complain. I should be receiving these by the end of the week. :) I will be using these as the base of the pin wheel. Best part is that they match the print from my newsletter.

I also purchased the card stock paper for the actual pinwheel:

CARDSTOCK.jpg

I am thinking of using the red with the bigger polka-dots, but will see how they all look.

Tears of Joy:

I love the tears of joy packets that I have seen around the DIS and decided to make my own!

I bought these great glassine envelopes in the size# 3 (2 1/1 by 4 1/2) on ebay for $4.00/ 50 pcs. The $4.00 includes the shipping, so I though that was awesome!!

Glassine-Envelope-3-2-_1.jpg

I purchased these yesterday and they have already shipped! They seller was so efficient.

I also already purchased the ribbon I will be using, which just so happens matches the red and bigger polka dot pattern card stock for the pinwheels. :)

ribbonmatch.jpg

To stick to the blue and white striped thing I have going on- I bought a punch to cut out circles, I got the wrong size which I am going to keep anyways for other projects... but here is what it looks like:

PUNCHER.jpg

and here is what it would look like (picture it smaller) with the ribbon contrast:

STRIPESANDDOTS.jpg

The final circle size will be 2" and I will be putting a 1" circle label in the center with the "Tears of Joy" saying.

What do you think?

Almost forgot-

So I have been thinking more and more about the centerpieces.
I found a few other ideas on Wedding Bee, and I will post the pics sometime soon to get your opinions... but considering I go with a flower arrangement and just a framed picture of a ferris wheel for example (like the 2nd centerpiece idea I posted) do you ladies think this frame option is too modern?

ikeaframe.jpg

Here is the original picture- just incase you missed it:

ferriswheeltableidea.jpg

I like the base of the frame, and it is double sided! It is from Ikea and the best part is that it is only $.99! I figured I can use them to go sign crazy! LOL. Maybe even put a picture of us on the opposit side? Or is that too cheesy?

I took pictures this weekend at a local carnival which could probably work for that. I wasn't as happy with them as I was the first batch of e-pics, but we still got some good shots. I will post some soon!

Oh and another update- (I feel like I am all over the place, that's what happens when you don't post for a few days!!)- I will be going to Disney this weekend!!! Finally going to my site inspection!!

The frame could definitely work, imho. Weddings have so many details that most of the guests are overstimulated. I was just at a friends' wedding a couple of weeks ago and I remember the tablecloth more than the centerpiece at the table. I took a centerpiece home, but there was so much, that I couldn't get a good look. Also, I was too busy talking, eating and dancing. If you think it looks too plain, which could be the modern thought of yours, you could always add things to them. ie, HM made of rhinestones, ribbon hot glued on, etc. You could even paint your names on them, or have someone with pretty writing do it.

Also, an idea hit me about the popcorn bag. I don't have a photo with me here (I'm at work), but there was a bride about a year or two ago who had her reception at Bistro de Paris in Epcot. She had federal building cutouts that were folded (like an open box, with no bottom) and encased the basic vase. You could always do something like that. I will go home and pull up the photo (hopefully I still have it. That way you could customize it in exactly your colors and even more.

I agree that with the ADH you probably want to go with something a little more elegant, but still fun. I really do like those table signs, and I think the frame you picked out would work nicely!

And I love all of the materials that you picked out for your pinwheels, I think they are going to look awesome when they are done! Can't wait to see!

Thank you ladies! I will start working on my projects next week, I'm crossing my fingers they come out as I am envisioning them... :)

In the mean time, I'm going to focus my energy on looking through more inspiration pics for the centerpieces. I've been thinking more and more about the IKEA frame... ill have to stop by and purchase at least one to play around with. I can't purchase them online, but at least it looks like there are plenty of them in stock at my local store.

Any other ideas are more than welcome!! :thumbsup2

Just catching up on your PJ! popcorn::

I LOVE all of your DIY ideas!! The escort pinwheel cards are amazing and such a great idea!!
