What? No one wants to have sushi with me at Yambuki? :confused3 ;)

I don't mind going to Yamabuki. I've eaten there a couple times and it was good. The good thing is my kids enjoy sushi and Japanese food, so we eat Japanese often.

BTW ~ I've also eaten at ESPN a few times and it is OK. Nothing amazing but nothing bad. To tell you the truth, I don't even remember what I've eaten there :confused3 . They have two sides of the restuarant. One side is the regualar and the other side has tables and the bar with a huge screen T.V. playing several games. In the front row, they actually have lazy-boy-chairs to sit in while you eat. Also, they bathroom stalls have TV's in them.

I have the BEST NEWS!

I just spent the afternoon watching my friend, Ellen's, kids while they went on a date. When they came to pick them up we talked Disneyland.

I told her that I was going to have to cancel my dd's trip in March because flights were too expensive. She offered to take me and my dd with them in their van when they go to DLR in February!! So I changed my ressie and now we're going a few weeks earlier! HOORAY!! My dd is going to be so excited.

Also, Ellen offered her frequent flier miles for us to be able to fly to DLR for our trip in April! So we won't have to pay for flights!!!  Woohoo! :woohoo: :woohoo: So, I think we're going to change our days to Fri-Sun so we can do the Segway Tour on Sunday. I'm soooo, soooo happy and love that I have a friend who is as much of a Disney freak as I am! :cloud9:

I have to look at the schedule Beth has set up and see where we can fit in a trip to Yambuki.

Yep, that's what I was talking about when I mentioned the April trip. She's offering her frequent flier miles for the two of us to use for our flights. She's so, so sweet and generous! She was shocked when I told her that there are 30 ladies signed up for this thing! We're gonna have a blast.

Happy Sunday everyone! For a New Year's Resolution, I promised my family I would cut down my time on the computer. :surfweb: :scared1: So you won't be seeing near as much of me. However, I am allowed 30 min each morning and 30 min each night on the Disboards, so I'll still check in as much as possible.

Beth, there really isn't a poll anymore, just a choice of two shirts on this post:

Hi Callie. Less computer time?? Say it isn't so!! :scared1: Well, I should follow your lead. I spend way too much time DISing. And planning trips. :rolleyes1

I'll add that tee link to the front page then. Thanks!

Yamabuki huh? I'm probably more picky then your kids. :sad2: But if there's some kind of chicken, lol, then I'm up for it!! :yay:

Happy Sunday. I am taking 3 teenage girls to Disneyland today in the rain. Wish me luck.
Good luck, stay dry and have FUN!! :wizard:

OMG, that is awesome news!!! I'm so happy for you. What a great friend you have!! I can't wait to meet you both. :goodvibes

And as for the schedule, those are all just ideas. Nothing is set in stone so if you all want to add Yamabuki in there somewhere, no problem!! I'm open to any and all ideas so we can all have a wonderful time!!

Just let me know what your thinking. :thumbsup2

Good morning, gals!
I just wanted to see what I missed yesterday. Yambuki looks cool. I am not a sushi fan..but I am sure that they have other delicious things to choose from. Is that the place you sit on the floor?

I have to leave soon to go do playgroud duty. It is snowing soooo bad out there...the news says it is a light snow...Riiiiight. I am ascared! I hate driving in the snow.

Hi, it's been a while since I've checked in but all is still a go for the trip!

Yes, Yamabuki is the place you sit on the floor, however unlike trational Japanese restaurants, there is a hole under the table to put your legs in. So you don't actually sit on your feet. My kids think this is cool. They also have traditional tables.

Good luck in the snow! We were at one point going to move to Pennsylvania & I didn't know how I was going to survive the snow :scared: . Anything below 70 degrees is freezing to me.

WOW! It's great you have such a nice and generous friend :lovestruc . But it sounds like she is also a Disneyholic so she must understand your need to go :thumbsup2 .

I'll also be there Fri-Sun so whatever evening you want to do Yamabuki is good for me.

DangerMouse - wow that's great news! What a nice friend you have, and one that's a Disney nut no less!:thumbsup2

Also, Yamabuki sounds great to me. I'm not much of a sushi lover, but the only sushi I've ever had came from Costco, so maybe that's why?:confused3 I love other Japanese food though, and I'm willing to try almost anything. I'd even try sushi again.:goodvibes

Hi all! Sorry it's been so long. I worked 47 hours of overtime between 12/16 and 12/31! Then, overnight 1/1 to morning of 1/2 I got the stomach flu and was so sick! I was too sick to even want to go on the computer.
Anyway, was playing online at disneyland.com for DD's b-day in March, and I happened to see that for 3, 4 & 5 day hoppers, if you buy online and have your first day of use 4/24 (now isn't that a coincidence!) or earlier, you get two days free. So, 5 day pass is only $169! Also, they have $20-40 off if you purchase online with no date restrictions (if you won't be able to make it by 4/24).
Check it out. Always gotta love it if you can save on tickets!

Be careful with all that snow!!

That sounds so cool about the restaurant.

We moved from SoCal to Northern MI in 2004 and stayed there for 3 years. I thought the snow would be the worst part, and it was bad, but the day after day of no sun was what really got to me. Very depressing.

So we went to the opposite extreme and moved to HOT Las Vegas!! LOL Actually if I could live anywhere, I'd live along the central coast in CA, maybe Pismo Beach or Morro Bay. But I think I'd need to win the lotto first. :sad2:

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear you got sick. I hope you are much better now and things have calmed down at work. :wizard:

Hey ladies, I was looking at the menu for Yamabuki and even though it sounds like a totally cool place, I just don't think I can do it. I'm sorry. I'm not very adventurous when it comes to food. We don't eat very much beef, and no lamb, pork, seafood, etc.

BUT it sounds like a fun place and the interest in going there seems good, so I definitely think it's a must do!! :thumbsup2

Callie and all those interested, why don't you look over the schedule and see which day you think would work and I'll add it in there. It's only one meal, and let's face it, we aren't all going to agree on where to eat each and every meal. Not with such a large group.

I can just plan to go somewhere else for that one meal, and that way if there is anyone else who doesn't care for Japanese either, we have more choices.

I hope that makes sense and doesn't upset anyone. :flower3: We can stick together up until that meal and right after we can meet up again. :thumbsup2

I'll tell you what, Beth, I'll let you off the hook for Yambuki if you let me off the hook for Goofy's Kitchen. I can't stand that place.

Seriously, I don't expect that 30 ladies are going to be traveling together everywhere as a herd from Fri to Sun. Some of us really want to experience the parks and it would be impossible traveling with that large of a group.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm kind of envisioning the weekend with us doing a few things together (meals, tours, parades, shows, etc.) and then doing other stuff on our own (or with a couple friends). Am I totally off base?

You are not off base at all.:) From my experience in going on a ladies trip we would have ADR lists and Activities lists (like tours) and then we would figure out when we would be able to touch base as a group to maybe have a CS meal together or ride Splash, Pirates, or whatever, together. It is really informal and fun! We don't all have to be joined at the hip the whole time.

I was kind of thinking along the same lines as you.

Meet up and then split up, and meet up and then maybe go on certains rides together and so on. :confused3

I might be up for a tour? Maybe the Segway or Walt's tour? :woohoo:

I'm also very curious about the Food and Wine Festival? Anyone else?

You know, I was thinking the same thing myself;) .
I mean, we can't go around in a herd of 30-something storming thru DL and DCA! I am sure groups will go their own way for rides and such. I arrive Friday and will skip BB for lunch - overpriced for me and so-so food, but if we decide on a dinner spot, I'm in - maybe F&W weekends will have something to offer? Actually, I am very interested in all the F&W activies, once the schedule comes out we can talk about what interests us. I have been the last two years for both paid and free events and it is very fun, informative and adult orientated. On Sat, count me in for GK b-fast and HoB dinner, yum. I would love to do a tour on Sunday, Segway is my first choice, but Walk in Walt's is okay, too. I assume when we get closer to the 60 day window we will get more organized on who is doing what and start making some ressies? I think because the tours are limited to ten-twelve people, we should book those as soon as it is available. I look to our fearless leader Beth for guidance:worship: .

Nope, not at all! :)

The nice thing about having such a large group is there is always going to be someone who is interested in doing what you are.

For example, at CA we might have some who want to head right for the fast rides and some who'd rather head to a show or some shopping instead.

If we try to keep all 30+ ladies together the whole time, we will be miserable. It will never work and we'll end up standing around trying to figure out what to do next and instead will end up doing nothing. LOL

And we want everyone to have a great time and make this trip their own as much as possible, kwim?

Okay having said that, why do you hate Goofy's Kitchen? It's been years and years since I've been there and can't remember much about it.

I think a fun character breakfast would be a great group activity. So I'm just curious, is it just that one you don't like? Is there something that you or everyone thinks would work better? Or would you personally prefer to just skip a character meal all together? :confused3

I'm totally open to any of them, since I've never been to any of the others and it's been forever since I've been to that one.
