Okay, I was volunteering at my daughter's school for International Day on Friday, and two different people wanted to know if my daughter had to work today. Hmmm...my daughter is 7..dressed as a little swedish girl....not at work... They had assumed my 30 year old Nanny (was our Nanny when we needed one, now she just picks the kid up from school on occassion), was Claire's mother, which makes me the Grandmother. Yep---Grandma!! :scared1:
Okay, I am old enough at 46 to be a G'ma, but unless I had a kid at 16 (again, possible), how is the Nanny my daughter!! I was not particularly flattered!!!
So, here I was feeling all young and cool...and they think I'm a grandmother.
So, a bit sensitive today perhaps!!!
But, no fear....I don't have the maturity of a Grandmother!!!!!:yay:

I've met up with people "from online" before...it's always a bit odd to get ready for (worrying that someone is, as DH once said, "a big galoot"), and then there's a moment of ACK when you meet, but then usually things are fine.

About the Saturday...that could always be a DTD shopping/eating/movie-viewing day for AP holders who don't want to pay for the day. :upsidedow Of course, I bet that would cause FAR more expenditures than just $40!:rotfl:

Today I'm pretending that I am not here. Just been making plans for our December trip and trying to ignore the "boys". They made cookies, sitting on the living room floor. DH said that he wanted everything to be at DS's level, rather than dealing with the kitchen. Guess he forgot the whole point of buying that tall kitchen chair/stepstool, eh? :upsidedow
LOL about the cookies. :rotfl: Save any extras for us?? :yay:

You got that huh? :rolleyes1 :lmao: I thought others could benefit from your experience. :rotfl2:

 How dare they. Well, shows how much they know. And don't worry, in your lime green thong and "stripper shoes" no one will mistake you for a granny!! :rolleyes1 :lmao: :lmao: ;)

Sounds like you have a great attitude anyways! Like the saying goes, act your shoe size. In which case, I'd be 10. :scared1: I have big feet.... :rotfl2: :sad2:

My DSS says to add my age, so 3+3=6. But I kinda like being my shoe size more, at least Id be 9.
I think Ill just act like Ive told DH about this trip for a long long time. And he must have just forgotten in the midst of planning his big Memorial Day motorcycle trip.:rolleyes1
I was talking to DSIL and remembered the $$ for the Hojo, its $59 a night for non-park view and $69 for park-view with the entertainment card discount. I guess Im kinda partial to there. Ive stayed there twice in the last year. The other times were at timeshares. Id be game to stay somewhere else, if the rates are as good.:thumbsup2

Okay, so I was messing around online and decided to check out the rates at Candy Cane Inn for the April dates just out of curiousity.

BTW, I only chose the Candy Cane Inn because on Tripadvisor is was ranked #2 out of 99 hotels in Anaheim. So I'm just using it as an example.

This is what I got:

Standard 2 Queen Beds

Standard Queen/Queen Room: An inviting room with custom down comforters, wood plantation shutters, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer & iron/board.

Includes daily Expanded Continental Breakfast, Exclusive Shuttle to Disneyland and Complimentary parking. No connecting doors in this room type. Max 4 individuals in this room.
Date Day Rate
04/24/08 Thursday $112.00
04/25/08 Friday $123.00
04/26/08 Saturday $123.00
04/27/08 Sunday $112.00

Rate: $470.00 Tax: $70.50 Total Stay: $540.50

Okay, so if you break that down and divide that by two, each person would pay a total of $270.25 OR $67.56 per night per person.

I didn't think that was too bad... Plus it includes breakfast, which is nice.

Here is a quote from someone on Tripadvisor who was there recently on what the breakfast is like:

Nice continental breakfast, bagels, bread with jams and cream cheese or peanut butter, several cereals and milk, croissants, muffins and pastries. coffee, juice and hot chocolate, also bananas and apples.

Again, this is just to give an example of some of the hotels in the area and what it would run. :thumbsup2

Any other "old ladies", over 40 going? Amy

I'll be 39 when we go, is that close enough? ;) Once you go under the tunnel in DL, aren't we all just kids again anyway?

I'm a HoJo loyalist, so I will most likely be staying there (with the Ent. rate of course). I'm also going to probably ask a friend to come with me (she's an AP holder and is dying for a trip to DL without her young kids).

First of all, I love your plan for your DH!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I can picture it now... "But honey, I TOLD you all about this. I can't believe you don't remember. See how you never listen to me." :sad2: :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

I've heard good things about the HOJO. I'd stay there. I am really not picky, and that's a great price! Do you know if the entertainment rate is good around those dates?

It was when I was there from May 8th to the 12th (upgraded to an AP on Saturday). I dont think there would be anything happening during that time :confused3 . I can call tomorrow and check. When we were there a few weeks ago for 6 nights with taxes was $480.
DH might get courious when all we have for dinner is ramen noodles and soup.:lmao:

We should do a quiz to get to know eachother.

And right after you find out if those rates are good for the trip dates....find out how one gets and the price of the Entertainment card.

That price rocks! Like Beth says, the rooms are mostly for sleeping. The Desert Inn and Suites seemed like a good choice too. The 2 double beds and the separate living room. Maybe you should get at least one of those for the Ladies Party night you'll have to plan. You'll have a theme drink for this trip too, won't you. ;)

Yeah, if you don't mind calling that would be great. Cheaper the better for me. I'd rather spend my money on other things. Thanks!!

Speaking of other things, anyone interested in eating at the House of Blues in DTD? I've never been but a friend of mine swears by their mushroom pasta and I'm dying to try it!!

We should do a quiz to get to know eachother.
Sure! Oh, I was also going to suggest that if anyone wants to give their first names, I can make and post a list so we can start learning them.

That way we don't walk around yelling for "gnbuggy, oh gnbuggy, where are you??" :rotfl:

Of course, that's up to each person. If someone doesn't want to, I can respect that. :flower3:

My name is Beth. Easy enough seeing as how it's in my sig. :rotfl2:

You need to buy those entertainment books that are good for your area. At least I think that's how. lol I'm new to this part. But I do have one of those books, so if we end up there, then I'm good to go. :thumbsup2

Anyone of you HOJO experts happen to know off hand what amenities they have? Free breakfast? Fridge and/or micro in room? Shuttle? Thanks!

Oh, and as for a theme drink, lol, I have no clue. :rotfl2:

Here's my confession, I really don't drink. :rolleyes1
I'm not opposed to it, I've just never found a drink I like. :confused3 I've tried and tried to become a drinker but so far, no luck. :sad2:

Although, I recently tried a Fuzzy Navel and it wasn't bad! :thumbsup2 So maybe there's hope for me yet.

So if you don't drink, don't worry, you aren't alone. And if you do, don't worry. We'll make sure you stagger back to your room safely. ;)

No free breakfast :guilty:. The rooms are large with mini fridge, coffee maker. Theres a nice little store, the pools are nice, only one hot tub:sad2: .

I consider myself a HoJo expert (you can see how many times I have stayed there in my sig line). I have never stayed there without using the ent. rate. I do DLR trip planning as a side business and send all my clients to the HoJo as well.

The HoJo does not offer any kind of continental breakfast. All their rooms have refrigerators, but only some (office rooms and suites) offer microwaves. The ART shuttle is available, but the hotel is about an 8 minute walk to the esplanade. MiMi's Cafe is right across the street and has awesome food. If there is anything else you need to know about their rooms/bldgs. let me know. I pretty much know the layout like the palm of my hand. :thumbsup2

Oh, my name is Callie. :wave2:

Im not quite as familiar to the Hojo as you, but Im getting there. I brought the map home so my DSIL and I would have it for reference in the future. (we now consider it our "home" hotel. )

Okay... My name is Megan, and I like Hojo's as well!
