Well, I have had quite the morning! My dog starting barking so I ran downstairs to see him freaking out and backing up from this

Yep! We had a baby rattlesnake in the dining room! I knew the triangular head and black mask on the eyes was not a good sign - and it was rattling it's tail although I could not see a rattle.
I locked the dog in a room and put a water pitcher over the snake so it could not slither and hide. Called our police and they sent out Animal Control. The guy kept telling me that he bet it was a gopher snake. I said nope - I see gopher snakes all the time and this was not one! Plus I found a google image of a baby rattler that looked like this one's twin! As soon as I removed the pitcher and he got it in his trap pole, he got a better look and agreed it was a rattler! Aggressive little thing - was squirming and twisting to get at the catch pole. He took it outside but had to call for help since he need another pair of hands to get a container out of his truck (I and was NOT going to volunteer!). Another police officer showed up because he heard the call on his radio and was curious! So I had 3 police officers just staring at the snake in front of my house!
After they left, I checked over my dog really well and could see no evidence that he had been bitten. He also never yelped so I was pretty sure he was okay. But I called my vet to be safe. Turns out he is the only vet in the county that carries anti-venom and so had my husband bring home 2 doses just in case we had to rush to an emergency vet. So I have 2 doses of rattlesnake anti-venon in my refrigerator!
It has been over 6 hours so I am confident that we won't have any issues with my dog but now I am scared to go in my backyard! I had the patio door open which is how the snake got in. We live next door to the baylands so we are use to little garter snakes, frogs, etc. in our yard - and sometimes the house! Have even had 5-6 foot king snakes and gopher snakes in the garage but this was a first!!
So glad my dog is a scaredy cat and backed up!
Here's hoping my weekend is much calmer!
Hope everyone has a great mother's day!

I decided to go and check out the link you gave. If I play the "shuffle" game, am I still entered into the big contest?
Kaitlyn's and her best friend's big graduation party was yesterday. Whew, had enough food for 150 people. It is really hard to plan the amount of guests when it is an "open house." Many of the guests had several parties to go to, so they ate at everyone's house. Needless to say, we had plenty of food. Yay....that meant enough leftovers for today!

LOL....was that vacation time for you? Ha ha!
