Hey Sacramento/Fairfield area gals - do any of you drive a mini van (or big SUV that would seat several of us)? We should think about a Diva Road Trip to the Disney Museum in SF. I really want to go, but once you add up the price of gas, bridge toll, parking, admission and lunch it gets kinda pricey. If there were several of us splitting gas and parking it would make it more reasonable. Any interest? I'd drive, but my Suby only seats 4. 5 if someone is pixie sized and can sit in the middle in the back seat. If we only have 4 that can/want to go, I'd be happy to drive.

If younguys do that, let me know and I will trynto meet you - I'm very close to SF

Capri -bummer on the alllergic reaction

Mel - we r actually on cottages on the grounds so nice rooms

Katie - glad to see you posting - missed ya! And completely sympathize with the teenage boys eating. My son and his friends are bottomless pits!!

Grumpy Grandma I am sorry if you said your real name I must have missed it but I feel silly calling you by your sn. Do you mind mentioning it again if you did already so I can call you by your name LOL. And that is funny yeah I think NY is a little too far to go ;) I know there are some of us around Sac and then some in the Bay area so I would be up for meeting here and/or there. I always love a day in the city. In fact I want to go see Beach Blanket Babylon if anyone is ever interested. Have heard it is hilarious and sort of has Disney theme :)

Hope everyone is having a good day!

I understand how you could miss my name ... this thread does move along rather quickly!! My name is Linda. Nice to meet you. :goodvibes

I think this sounds like a fun trip. I'd be happy to split the cost with others. My car only seats 4.

Sorry your itches put a damper on your day. I'm sure you husband was real happy that you guys missed a good TV watching opportunity.

Oh and just wait until those boys turn into High School teens!!! You think they eat a lot now :scared1:. I had 4 teenage boys spend the night on Friday night (that happened to also be football players so these are some big boys)....there are no words to describe how much food they ate. It was truly unbelievable!!! On Saturday morning I actually cooked breakfast 3 times because they just kept eating!!!

Ha! Nope, Justin was not happy. :rolleyes1

On the other hand he was sweet about it. He said he didn't sleep all night. He kept thinking my throat could close up, and everytime he was just about to fall asleep, I would make some weird sleeping noise like a gurgle and it would jolt him awake. Heehee. :rolleyes1

Sorry you've been in a funk lately. Wish I was there to take you out and help with things.

Oh curse those itchies ruining a perfectly good tv watching time!! Well, I'm glad you are better now.

What's the recipe for taco pie? It sounds good!

Well so much for some good quality :happytv: time! :rolleyes1 LOL!

Capri I am so sorry about the allergy. Did you ever figure out what it was so you don't have that happen again?

Ack! Sorry, Capri! That's awful! And one of the reasons I keep benadryl in the med cabinet at ALL times. I also have the cream for the localized itchies. I can tolerate pain much better than itching. Ick. Glad you are finally itch-free!

Capri -bummer on the alllergic reaction

Thanks everyone. Yep, our TV watching night was a bust. :rolleyes1

Kelly - I'm not sure what caused my allergic reaction. I've never had an allergic reaction before, so it was a huge surprise that it happened at all.

I did have some cajun fries with dinner that I had never tried before, but with all the gumbo I've eaten in my life....I can't hardly believe it was the cajun spice on those fries. But maybe there was something (some different type of spice I've never had before) in that particular cajun spice mix used on those fries? I have no idea. :confused3

Beth - Taco pie is really easy. Brown up some ground beef with diced onions (and diced green peppers if you like) with some dry taco mix seasoning. Drain the fat. Add a bottle of red taco sauce, a can of green chilies, and some black beans to the meat and let simmer for about 20 minutes. Let cool.

Take a round cake pan. Stack 2-3 flour tortillas in the bottom of the pan (put a little shredded cheese between the tortillas). Add a layer of taco meat mixture, sprinkle on some sliced black olives, add a layer of shredded cheese. Repeat the layering (tortillas, meat, olives, cheese) until the pan is full. (The cheese layer should be the last layer you do before baking).

Bake at 350 for 30 minutes and/or until cheese is bubbly and browning. Slice like pie and serve with sour cream, guacamole, shredded lettuce, and diced tomatoes and condiments. Serve with mexican rice. YUM!

Lisa - Relentless itching is the worst! It was truly awful. And it was everywhere. Even the bottom of my feet and the palms of my hands itched along with my ears, head, neck, face, legs, arms, chest, back. Everywhere. Thank you Benadryl! I never needed it before - never knew I was allergic to anything - but boy did it work. I woke up this morning and.....awwwwwww. Relief! :woohoo:

Happy Sunday, everyone! We did a whole lot of NUTHIN around here today. I went to the grocery store, but that was about IT. Roasted a chicken for dinner and had rice on the side. Nothing fancy. I need to get my butt into the craft cave and make some cards, but it's hard with the hubs home because I like to watch movies when I stamp and he complains about the noise. Ugh. I have Leroy & Stitch here that I got in the mail from Netflix yesterday. He's supposed to meet a friend for coffee tomorrow, so that may be my opportunity. LOL

My dh is the same way when he paints. He needs the background noise to get creativity going. It doesnt' bother me though, he's in the garage!!:rotfl2:

Grumpy Grandma Hi my name is Kelly and I live near Sac as well. I would be up for a mini meet also. I have done a few with some of the others and it's always lots of fun!!

Ok now...how many is that? I think a spring mini-meet is coming.... :cool1:

Top of the morning ladies!! Arrived in Ireland yesterday early morning. Sent the day touring to stay awake did the cliffs of Moor and a reallly cool cave. Today, slept in and tired to got to a walled garden but it was closed because of the holiday - since St. Paddys was on a Sat, they take Monday was the holiday. So went hiking some more at Kilkee - I love the names of the towns here! Not a beer drinker but did try some Guiness - much prefer the Irish cider! Yummy and higher alcohol content than the beer - go figure!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

GUINESS!!!! in other words....bread in a bottle. I'm not to keen on it either, just too filling for me. The Irish cider sounds yummy.

Enjoy Ireland and great hospitality!!!

Hi everyone, hope you all had a fun and/or relaxing weekend. :thumbsup2

Welcome to the new Divas - so exciting to see more fun ladies join in our fun! :yay:

My weekend started out on Friday with a boys sleepover at my house - because they're such a rare event here.

So in order to feed a bunch of starving boys for dinner, I made two taco pies with a side of rice and black beans. It was pretty yummy.

Saturday (St. Patrick's Day) the boys actually went to a sleepover at a friend's house just up the road! I mean...a sleepover somewhere other than here?!! I was shocked...and I was free! Free! FREE! :cool1: To take advantage of this rare opportunity, Justin and I thought, "Hey, we have the house to ourselves tonight. Lets rent a couple movies, order in, cozy up on the coach, and spend some quality time together." :love2:

Everything was going great until.....I had an allergic reaction to something I ate for dinner. Suddenly I was itching head to toe. It took me a while to figure out something was wrong. Itch here...itch there...itch here and itch there....itch-itch-itch-itch....itchitchitchitchitchitch....can't stop itching! Needless to say the evening didn't quite turn out like we planned. :sad2:

We didn't have any Benadryl on hand, it was late, and we were tired, so I went to bed and hoped the itching would stop and I would wake up fine again. Nope. I was still itchy as ever on Sunday and my chest/hands/feet/neck/ears were all red. It was, well, a little miserable. :goodvibes

Finally got some Benadryl in me yesterday evening and I'm happy to report that I woke up itch and hive free this morning. :cheer2:

And there you go. My St. Patrick's weekend in a nutshell. Excitement abounds. :smokin:

ooooh honey, that's awful.
having an opportunity to have an evening kids free is a rare event around here too. To have it ruined with allergies would be a total bummer!!!

Glad to see you have a sense of humor about it.

Thank you for the compliments on the picture! It is a great photo spot. I love that background. Now just too bad you can't get a photo in that same spot while WoC is going on. That would make a nice background!

Thanks for adding me to the front page! It feels so nice to be OFFICIALLY part of this group. :)

My weekend was pretty good, despite some snow that we got. It's already melting away, since the temperatures haven't really dropped.

It was Dillon's birthday yesterday, so on Saturday we went out for dinner. He picked Sushi, and since I am not a Sushi eater, I had McDonald's before heading to the restaurant, lol.

Afterwards we headed back to our place for some drinks. We ended up having quite a few people stuffed in here, but it was a good time. I ended up taking Seth to my Mom's so that we didn't disturb his sleep time, etc.

Even though I had a bit of a hangover yesterday, it was a great weekend. :)

And here is my little man wearing his green on St. Patrick's Day:

another great picture. what a cutie!

Hey everyone . Just checking in

. I've sort of been in funk so I haven't been posting much here or on FB.

Shoot you should see my grocery bill with 2 teen boys and one up and coming, it's no wonder I ever get a chance to leave the kitchen!! When their friends come over I cringe....please don't come hungry...please don't come hungry...

I can craft without the background noise, but it's the ONLY time I ever watch anything on TV/dvd, so usually when I'm in there, the TV is on, if for no other reason than to catch up on whatever I've recorded off Food Network. LOL If I'm working on a specific project, I'll normally put on a DVD I've seen a million times so that I'm not distracted from the task at hand. The 4 DVDs that live in my 5 disc player are Titanic, Lion King, Lilo & Stitch and 16 Candles.

Hello ladies :). I'm sooo thankful today is a new day. I had a horrible, horrible, horrible night!!! I just hope today is better.

Not a beer drinker but did try some Guiness - much prefer the Irish cider! Yummy and higher alcohol content than the beer - go figure!

Have a cider...or 2 or 3 for me ;).

Wish I was there to take you out and help with things.

Wish you were here too...or I was there...either way would have worked for me.

Shoot you should see my grocery bill with 2 teen boys and one up and coming, it's no wonder I ever get a chance to leave the kitchen!! When their friends come over I cringe....please don't come hungry...please don't come hungry...

I totally feel your pain and I had to laugh at the last comment . That's totally what runs through my mind when any of my sons friends come over.

rent, Netflix or borrow 16 Candles. Classic 80's teen flick. Molly Ringwald. Cute, cute CUTE!

What's happenin', hot stuff?

Linda thanks for adding the name. Nice to meet you too!! I always feel so silly calling people by their screen names so it is nice to know yours. :)

Capri that is so weird. I think you are right maybe there was something weird in the spices?? It's too bad because if you knew then you would not eat that and have that reaction again. Sounded miserable. I got shingles last year for the first and hopefully the LAST time and it is AWFUL like that. It was on my leg and it itched to where I wanted to scratch my skin off but the worst part was when you DID scratch it it then burned like acid. Hope I NEVER have to deal with that again. I agree itching is miserable esp when you can't get it to stop! Glad you are feeling better and hope you never come across that again!!

Lisa I am DEF up for a mini meet as long as it is not on a day when I have other plans. My girls are SO busy with sports and such but I DEF would love to come if I am available. I have been to the museum and would LOVE to go again. That would be so fun. I have a mustang that while it "technically" seats 4 I don't think anyone would actually want to sit back there LOL. But if we can't carpool I would be willing to drive and I can get at least one other person in my car. :)

FYI in the past we have done a separate thread to set it up if anyone wants to do that. THat way we could figure out what when and where. Just a thought but like I said I am def in if it works out!! :)

Hope everyone has a GREAT day today!! :)

Good morning, ladies!! :)

At least they are big guys and so it sort of makes sense. My son, Adam, you've seen his photos, he's on the small side, and he can still eat a ton!! Where does it all go????

Sorry you've been in a funk, by the way. :grouphug: Glad to see you posting again. I miss you when you don't!!

Yikes! I remember those days! We used to go through a box of cereal a day. And it was the big box!
Tell me about it. Nothing lasts in this house. If I buy a bag of chips and 2 liter of soda, it's gone in one day. We go through 2-3 gallons of milk a week. Ugh.

I'm a Grandma.......:goodvibes I'll have to go see what photo you pulled for me. :)
Are you?
I'll go post one now. DIS was acting up for me before.

:rotfl2: That would make a great tag....if the tag fairy didn't ignore us over here that is. :sad2:

All those movies sound great! Except I haven't seen 16 Candles. :thumbsup2 for all the rest though! :)
What?!?!? You must see Sixteen Candles. It's a classic.

Wondered if anyone is planning on going to the Destination D event this August, here's the info:

In the summer, D23 will offer an all-new “Destination D” event, Destination D: 75 Years Of Disney Animation, held over the course of two days at the Disneyland Resort in California (August 11-12). As Disney marks the 75th anniversary of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, D23 marks the occasion by gathering many renowned Disney animation legends along with top Disney animators, voice talent (past and present), and composers—plus interesting demonstrations, fascinating presentations, autograph sessions, and the chance to see entertaining animation rarities from the Disney vaults—all in celebration of 75 years of Disney feature animation.

There are a few of us who are thinking about it, I just booked a room at the Candy Cane Inn for $129/night, but am watching Hojo to see if they come up with any retro rate for the same time.

I do love that movie......

Oh, sexy girrrrrrrlfrieeeeeend!!!!!

*snort*

My absolute favorite movie from that same time is Breakfast Club! I've seen it so many times, I think I could recite all the lines!!

If you're talking about not eating McDonald's because you had a hangover, I think that they are the BEST thing to eat if you have one, haha. The grease soaks up all that alcohol, and it goes away so quick. At least, that is what I have found out for me!

And that face that Seth is making is the "i am wondering what i can get into next" face. It looks cute, but it means trouble!

OMG no.....that would make me throw up faster than just about anything.....just the thought gives me the heebie jeebies.......gag
Seriously tho, McD's when I'm not sick tends to make me feel ill so I rarely eat there.

I do, I have a mini-van that seats 7........

I am, I have photos of Miss Josie on my FB page. She's 3. :)

My absolute favorite movie from that same time is Breakfast Club! I've seen it so many times, I think I could recite all the lines!!

Breakfast Club, 16 Candles, Ferris Bueller's Day Off.....love them all. :)

My Tuesday is as insane as my Monday was....can it be Friday yet? PLEASE!!!!!!!!! My boss is on vacation, which means I have twice the work, we just got a new account in here that is turning into more work than we originally thought.....I'm ready for Friday!

I have seen Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller, but not 16 Candles. Looks like I am going to have to hunt that one down. I will see if it's on our Netflix.

Happy Taco Tuesday to ya!!!! That's what is on the menu this evening. Whatcha got?
