Well, since we are Starwood members with a bajillion points (well, maybe I exaggerate a bit), we are staying at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa. It is brand new, only been open four months and looks really nice on their website. I think it is about a mile from the beach, but up on a cliff, you can see the ocean in the backround from the resort in the pix they show. I love brand new places! I will report back on the WAP when we return, I am really looking forward to it, too! I just hope it isn't too hot there as it is inland about 15 miles in Escondido. We'll be sure to take lots of ice water. Have a good night everyone!:)
I checked out the pics of the hotel online. Wow! It looks very nice. Can you come by and kidnap me?? :rolleyes1

Have fun! See ya when you get back.

Have a fun and safe holiday!

Tata!:hippie:

I also want to know about the Wild Animal Park! I've never been there. . . . and my Mom has been mentioning it--just didn't know how hard it would be to maneuver there with someone who walks with a walker? Do you get in trams and ride around? Would we need to take her ECV?

Everyone have a great day--I just got a huge problem dumped on my doorstep by one of my clients . . . . luckily not a problem I created . . . . LOL

Hey Cheryl!!!

THe WAP is a HUGE amount of walking no matter where you want to go there!! There is a tram ride, but the start of it is in VERY VERY deep into the park.

I hate hot weather. I actually really dislike the relentless way S. CA sun just pounds down (curse my irish roots!!) , so I never go to the WAP in the summer!! For me, by about 10:30, it is already way way too hot to be enjoyable. There is just not enough sunscreen in the world!!

I do enjoy the WAP. I just only go in the fall and winter!!!

AMY

Hi ladies!! I just thought I'd pop in and wish you all a Happy 4th of July in case I don't catch some of you tomorrow!!

I made some cupcakes to go with January's yummy looking ice cream......

.......but you have to come here to get them! :rolleyes1 It's not so bad, only 110 today! And tomorrow we can watch the fireworks on the Strip. LOL :rotfl:

Anyway have a fun and safe holiday!

Hi there~!

Not sure I understand your question, but we each pay for our own tickets, food, souvenirs. On the hotel, the people staying in each room work it out among themselves--for example, I've reserved a room for next year's trip and will split the cost with who I stay with . . . . for the tours, usually one person is the "point person" who plans the event, and then prior to the trip everyone pays her their share of the tour cost by check or Paypal (usually).

Hope that answers your questions!

Hello ladies .

I finally have a moment to breath. I've been soooo busy at work for our year end that I was starting to feel like my head was going to explode :headache: . I'd go home and practically pass out. I've been using my crockpot a lot this week since I knew I wouldn't be in the mood to cook when I got home.

Beth ~ Happy late 15th Anniversary :cheer2: . May you have many more.

Michelle ~ Sorry to hear about Ethan :sad1: . He is in our prayers that he makes it through this obstacle .

Oops! I spoke too soon. I just got bombarded by people needing help and it took me over an hour just to post this message :scared: . Well sorry I couldn't chat more, but I hope everyone has a great 4th of July weekend and stay cool :beach: .

Hi there. Well, it's like Cheryl (toocherie) said, we all basically cover our own expenses. We'll plan out our sit down meals ahead of time so you can budget for that. And we try to mix it with some counter service so it doesn't get too pricey.

You buy your own tickets, and make your own hotel reservations, although most of us stay at the same hotel and we have a deal with them. And if you have a roomie obviously you'd work out a way to divide the cost of the room based on how many your rooming with.

The only area we'd pool our money is for the tours since one person generally has to book it and the rest would pay them back. It's not like a tour group where you sign up and it's all planned and scheduled down to the minute. It's just a big group of friends getting together to hang out and have some fun at Disneyland! :)

Hey Katie! How've you been? Sorry you've been so busy. You need to get the numbers of some restaurants that deliver. ;)

Anyway, good to see you and I hope that you too have a good 4th of July.

Hi everyone, just checking in because I've missed DIS'ing. Work, exercise, and sleep have been keeping me busy. We're planning on going to San Clemente beach tomorrow and maybe sleeping over at hotel and enjoying the area on Saturday too.

Hi Cristabel. That sounds nice. Have a good time!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the Wall-E push. It was so good. It made me tear up.
:goodvibes I'm glad you liked it. I really did too. (and I teared up too, just don't tell anyone!!)

I was just horrified to find us on the second page!! Just got home from the fireworks and work tomorrow . Night!!!

Hi everyone!! I hope you all had a good 4th of July. We went to dinner at Red Robin and then drove the Strip and parked in the back lot of the Rio and watched the fireworks from Ceasars. It was nice.

Today back to boredom. :rotfl2: My DH switching and working days for the summer really sucks. It means we are stuck home with nothing to do all day. Oh well. It is what it is.

I hope you all have a good day! Anyone planning to do any shopping? I'm not but there's usually sales around the 4th and the week-end after.

Hi everyone! Beth--your Fourth sounds like fun! I've never seen fireworks over the Strip--does the city put them on?

As for me, I stayed home and my Mom came over Thurs. night. We spent most of the day yesterday out in my yard planting tomatoes and herbs (which I should have done, oh say, April--but just haven't had time between trips to DLR and work!) Anyway, they're planted now, so hopefully soon I'll have ripe juicy tomatoes from my own yard (actually, I have a few because one of the ones from last year survived the winter and it has about six tomatoes on it now--in fact we had one last night!) Mom made her chocalate cake with the famous Brown Beauty frosting (most yummy frosting ever) and we watched National Treasure 2 Thurs. night and The Bucket List last night. (We started watching "There Will be Blood" but 10 minutes into in neither of us could take any more.)

Mom's caregiver came and got her this morning and now I'm at work--Dis-ing of course rather than working (shhhhhhhh.)

I may make a Target run later--I'm thinking of doing a DLR trip tomorrow morning before it gets hot and given my Mom's experience she's insisting that I get some of that nifty 85 SPF sunscreen. Plus I want to check out their herbs. And who knows what else, right?

Ok--so I'm going to check out the rest of my subscribed threads and get to work (maybe). Everyone enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Hi all. I hope you all are enjoying your weekend and that you had a great holiday. Thursday we had a run of bad luck. On our way to my dr appt we ended up running over a large piece of metal in the road. Well after being towed to the dealership (it's amazing that no one else in the area keeps our tires in stock....) The kids got to ride in the back of a police care (the officer was very helpful in all of this), we told them this would be their first and only time in the back of a police car. :lmao:

We left it with them and walked to Barnes & Noble for some cold beverages and books for the kids. When we got back to the dealer we found out that the rims also needed to be changed out, the metal cut right through the metal. Then they told us we needed a front alignment as well. But they don't keep the rims in stock so we're in a rental until Wednesday...:headache:

So that all happened on Thursday so I missed my appt, we didn't get to take the kids to see Kung Fu Panda and we didn't go out to dinner (for our anniversay...that was yesterday).

Thanks for letting me vent. But I have to remember that things could always be worse.

Talk to you all soon.
Steph

Hi Cheryl! The Strip fireworks were only at Caesars Palace, the Hilton and the Station casinos. It's wasn't like New Years when all the hotels were shooting them off. But it was still nice.

It sounds like you had a nice time with your mom. I have to ask what is Brown Beauty frosting?
I saw National Treasure 2 and liked it. How was Bucket List? I'd like to see that one too.

If you make it to DL have fun!!

Hi Steph! Aw man, don't you hate it when stuff like that happens?? Yes, it could always be worse, but still. It's frustrating isn't it?

I'm sorry about the hassles with the tires and all. I hope that once it's all taken care of you can still make up the anniversary dinner and movie.

Oh and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY a day late! :)
