He did tell me that he thought he had a crush an a girl that plays trumpet in band with him. He really likes to make her laugh when plays his trumpet by looking like a peanut. He asked to buy her a pair of funny xmas sock for a gift. His first ever!

Oh my goodness, how cute!

Hi Ladies!
I'm just checking in after a long, exhausting day of candy making. Today we made about 70 pounds of English Toffee, and packaged it all up for Marty to deliver tomorrow. We have another 150 pounds due Friday plus more in the next two weeks! So I'm off to bed to start all over tomorrow. Good night!

Anyhow, I have sent his teacher a note, and I also asked for a list of future books that they will be using, because in the future, I may choose to have him opt out of some of the books. I would not have let him read this one for sure.
Tracey, obviously you know your son best, and if you feel he's not ready for that, then that's what matters. ::yes:: As I said earlier, I do feel the teacher should have sent home a note giving parents more information and a chance to opt out. That seems like it would have been the best scenario for all involved.

That is too cute that he has a crush!! Awwwww, I hope she likes her Christmas socks. How sweet. :goodvibes

Oooooh, when shall I expect my delivery? :yay:

Get some rest! Sounds like you earned it.

Thanks all for your feedback. I am not trying to hide anything from my son, but I meet him where he is at, and he is not there yet. I would not choose for the school to be providing that book at his grade level. There actually was no notice that they were reading that book. The teacher sent it home so I could help him in discussing the "theme" that he had derived from the book and identifying evidence in the text to support his theme. It is a rather well told story, and very expressive, but I would think more for age 14 to 15.

I am actually fortunate in some ways because my son is hard of hearing, so he doesn't actually "hear" all that the other kids hear. You just have to look for the silver lining where you can! He did tell me that he thought he had a crush an a girl that plays trumpet in band with him. He really likes to make her laugh when plays his trumpet by looking like a peanut. Oh I understand the whole "not their level" yet. My little sister mentioned that my mom was going to buy her a training bra soon.

she's 8! Kids are having to grow up TOO soon these days.
I remember having the whole "womanhood" conversation with my mom when I was 11! I also remember the whole issue about bras, I remember it felt like I was suffocating :lmao:

Yeah I know it's not totally on topic to what you are dealing with your son but it is somewhat.

Hello Everyone:
We are getting ready to book the VIP tour. We have 6 hours as a minimum, but can pay for extra hours if we want to. My vote is for the 6, but do speak up, if you want to do something different. Majority will rule. Tour Date is Friday, March 6th 10-4. We will arrive full, and grab a corndog or a skewer to tide us over until dinner.

Ideas so far, but looking for more: Okay, I know some of the below is not possible, but it never hurts to ask! Request JD for a guide (never Ryan)

Ride the Lily Belle
Drive the Mark Twain
Tender the Train
Tour the Roundhouse
Tour Pope Ranch and House
Tour Walt's Apartment
View the Dream Suite
View Club 33 lobby
Behind the scenes viewing and info on any attraction!
Special treats at DCA?

Priority Seating for Billy, Aladin, Fireworks, Fantasmic, Parades, etc Maybe Carnation Cafe?

In addition, while we tour we will get all the insider info from the guide,(and we will ask for a copy of the notes to take as a souvenir) whom shall gather fast passes for us while we ride and shop and tour.

If all of this sounds amazing to you, and you have not signed up, please send me or Beth a PM. There are two spots left. If we fill those two spots then the cost is $75 per person plus tip. Otherwise the cost goes up a bit, as Beth previously posted.

We book on Dec. 4, so don't wait too long to respond.

Tracey, that list looks great! I was thinking (dangerous I know! ;) ) do they ever let you see behind the scenes of any of the rides? I know that at WDW, they have a tour where you can go behind the scenes of a ride and see how they operate the animatronics, and how the ride system works. I just think that would be awesome. I can't wait! Oh, and 6 hours sounds great to me, along with the corndog. :cheer2:

I'm sorry I haven't been on as much lately ladies. I've been so preoccupied with getting my son evaluated for speech. Also, been working alot.

DS is getting his eval Wednesday afternoon. I'm so anxious and nervous to hear what they say. If you are of the praying variety, please send some up for us. I'm sure things will be fine, it's just that I need to get used to the idea and learn how the system works. Thanks! :goodvibes

Great idea Heather. Don't know, but am willing to ask for anything. I will go ahead and book the tour on our 90 day mark, but will hold off on having you all send money. Looking for two more people to join us to help keep the cost down. Otherwise, I am still committed even at 90 something. So hang tight. I just know you all won't stick with a $700 bill:scared1:

HaPpY Tuesday Everyone!

I hope Everyone had a Great Thanksgiving Weekend:goodvibes

Tracey, I just PMed You, as well as Beth, that my Mom and I would like to go on the VIP tour.

HaPpY DaNcE HaPpY DaNcE!
I just found out that there is a shuttle service of some sort.. i don't care if it's pay.. at Hojo's..so i can book an additional room there for my Mom and i'll stay with her.. and WendyLouWho and Miss Melody can have the other room to themselves.. kewldeal! I was thinking we were going to have to stay at a nearby hotel with shuttle service to the park and then take a cab over for the pizza party/tote exchange.

She has no problem walking through the parks but she doesn't like walking to the hotel.. so this is great!

This is my first time staying at Hojos. So i'm a little dufus as to what they have and don't have.

Oh my gosh. 8 is too young! I also hated and still hate the bra thing. Inspite of many fittings, never have found a bra that is comfortable and does the job.

Oh my goodness, how cute!

It is sweet, and I really like that he likes her because she is nice and funny and probably because she plays the trumpet better than him. I can't tell you how thrilled I am that he is not drawn to stereo typical "popular" girl. I hope that doesn't change!

oi, the "system". Good luck with that! I know your little one will be just fine, regardless of the results. Let us know how things go and yes, prayers are coming your way.

Tracey: I'll get a check in the mail to you today! Thanks again to you and Audra for arranging this.

I'm up, I'm up! Although, I'd rather be in bed with Edward.

I do wish I was still in bed, I'm still sick and it's painful and I don't want to go to work today! Wah!

Anywho, I hope you all are having a great morning!

And Dawn, I'm so happy that you and your mom can stay at Hojo's!

Good luck. I'll be sending good thoughts your way that day.

I've added you both to the front page list, and now the tour is full again! :cool1:

This is my first time staying at Hojos. So i'm a little dufus as to what they have and don't have.
Great news! I didn't know HoJo had a shuttle either. Weird, we never saw one in the week we were there. Good thing you called. :thumbsup2

Aw, I hope you feel better fast! :wizard:

Does anyone know if Fairycat/Heather is still planning on coming on the trip? She never got back to me about the VIP Tour, so I had to remove her name from that since they were getting ready to book. But she's signed up for some other things too.

Also what happened to Grumpyvet/Amy? Anyone heard from her lately? :confused3

I'm just looking over the lists of attendees and trying to see who is a definite and who we haven't heard from in awhile.

I believe they use ART so it's not free to use. But I could be wrong :confused3.

Again, I'm gone for a few days and miss a lot :sad1:. And once the baby is born, I'll even have less time to DIS. As long as you don't forget me, I'll survive .

I ended up caving and taking DD to see Twilight instead of Bolt & it wasn't that bad for her age. I thought it was going to be a lot more sexual, but it wasn't too bad & I even enjoyed it a little :rolleyes1.
