Girls Only Trip (old planning thread, see link to new one in 1st post)

Morning ladies!

Earlier is fine with us. Maybe around 8 or 8:30pm? I can't wait to meet everyone!

Donna - Sorry your DH has to work but I am glad you will be joining us! Luckily my DBF doesn't work weekend nights and hopefully his schedule will be slowing down some because the project he was working so frantically on has been pulled back. I did love that he was racking up the comp time...amazing that I have more vacation time than he does and he is an engineer and has worked at the same company for 15 years and I am only an senior account manager for a hotel technology group and have worked for them for 5 years. Funny how these things work!!

Vicky, sounds like you have a great job! 8 would work for me.

It seems that way doesn't it. It's actually an accountant position for a large utilities company. I guess they are trying to eliminate the people who aren't serious or qualified since there are so many people applying :confused3.

Thanks, I'm going to need it. I really doubt I'll get it. I know I'm qualified, but there are so many people applying that there is bound to be someone more experienced.
.

I think your theory is right about eliminating applicants. But it isn't always the person with the most experience who gets the position. Sometimes, in the end, it comes down to personality fits. Good luck!:wizard:

Sometimes it feels like I'm out of the loop if I don't get to read for a few hours or even a day. I can't imagine what 7 days away is going to be like. I'm soooo going to need the Cliff Notes edition!

I know exactly what you mean!

BTW, Steph, loved the cards last time. Shirt color is good too. But isn't it a little early to be doing this...? (just thinking, things could change..)

Most of the time that kind of stuff is far more interesting that the planning that we are doing for a trip that's still eons away!

Yeah!

I heard a lot of helicopters last night, I think they were headed that way. You can still see the smoke from where I am. I'm praying everyone over there is okay. I hope your school stays safe. Apparently it's really windy over there right now (not here atleast) and that's what's making putting the fire out so hard.

Today my coworkers are taking myself and another coworker out to lunch for our birthdays, that should be nice. :yay:

Have a great birthday celebration! :woohoo:

I felt awful last night when I stepped outside and felt the heat and the wind - and I'm way way east. It is just the worst conditions for fire right now. So sad.

So, last night at the grocery store, I was that person. I get up there with my big cart of groceries, they are scanned, in my cart, and my visa check card won't work! You can just see the eyes rolling, and sighs happening in the long line behind me. Of course then I'm all like, WTH, and they put it through again, I have nothing else on me. Then I decided to try it as a debit, and it worked! whew! So, I call the bank this morning, and it seems that my card number has been comprimised, and so they put a $50 limit on the card. They can't tell me how the number was comprimised, and where it happened or anything (great! what's to stop me from doing it again, if it's at a place I use frequently?). So, that was my embarrassing exciting moment for the night.

I love that it's your card and they can't tell you how it was compromised. Did they suggest it was something you did and not someone who had your card number then?:confused3

Now for my questions... For those that attended this past year, did you like the itinerary tags? Did you use them? Would you like to see more listed on them? Were there items that you didn't like on the tags? I'd like to do them again and wanted to see what you all thought of them. For those that didn't attend last year. I made tags that had a basic overview of the times tours started, our meals that were scheduled on here, scavenger hunt.

I'm thinking this time I will start earlier in creating them and would like to add some things such as, park hours (maybe), shirt color for each day, and anything else we get a concensus on. I also plan on laminating them this way the ink won't run for those that go on water rides or may have a spill.

steph

Steph, I LOVED them. Was hoping you would volunteer again. If you want, I'd even be willing to pay a couple of bucks for them, they were so helpful. I like your additional ideas.
Good idea to have Mother's day next weekend. So sorry you have to be gone for work on MD

I know that anything trip related will be on the front page... I've been around here long enough to know that :lmao:

What I will be missing is all the personal stuff--what's going on in everyone's lives, favorite TV shows, and all that jazz. Most of the time that kind of stuff is far more interesting that the planning that we are doing for a trip that's still eons away!

I know what you mean.

Good Morning All:)

We will try to make it to the Hearthstone Lounge at 8:30 pm, probably a better time for us anyway.

Steph, I too, loved the intineraries you made for us. It reminded me of where I was going to next as well as where some of my friends might be if not where I was. I love all the little extras all the ladies made/bought/provided. I am trying to think of a little something I can do for everyone next year.;)

BIG & EXCITING news is....guess what they are serving at the Sweet Sunday event on Mother's Day? Magical!:banana:And it's free flowing, whooo hooo! Not that I can drink that much on a Sunday morning.:eek:So, my friend Cheryl and I will be enjoying the magic bubbly in three days - I can't wait!:cloud9:

Free flowing Magical.....nice!!!

I feel so behind here! I've tried to keep up. Steph, I loved the tags you made, and thought they were really nice. I think they were fine the way they were, but then again, I'm type A and had brought printouts of the front page, phone list, etc. :lmao: I think having the shirt colors and park times would be helpful.

I'm sure DH won't mind the $50 limit a day. I sometimes like to shop online...:rolleyes1

How odd. They put a limit for it as a credit card, but as a debit, spend away? And its all out of the same account. Strange.

Never to early to start planning.

Bring them with!

Wish I could but we will be down in the Hermosa area.

There's that area over by GRR with the water wheel running that would make a nice background for a photo......also if there's water back in the lagoon, that would be pretty as well.

It would be cool if they'd let us get up on the Golden Horseshoe stage for a group pic! How bout in front of IASW (as we're coming from all over......)??
Both of those are good ideas.

(And let me know if I missed you! I'm not as good as keeping track of these things as Beth)
That's because I have no life. ;)

This is the second time in four years that I've had to leave on Mother's Day for work. So I've decided to move Mother's Day until the following Sunday. ;)

For those that attended this past year, did you like the itinerary tags? Did you use them?

I'm sorry about you having to leave for Mother's Day.

I loved the tags. How early were you thinking of doing them? Last time we had plans change even in the week before the trip, so keep that in mind.

Wow. Well, good luck again!! :wizard:

Beth, thanks for posting in the title when there is new info at the top of the thread! It helps a lot!!!!
No problem. Sorry you are so busy, but yay for lots of work to fund the Disney trips. ;)

Big thanks to Bethy for that! :flower3:
Bethy? :rotfl2: I'm not sure anyone has ever called me that. :rotfl:

I am gearing up to fly to Indiana in a week.
We'll miss you!!

What are you ladies up to today?
Staying cool. It's gonna be another scorcher here today. Almost 100.
I did just finish cleaning two of my bathrooms, and doing some other housework. Fun stuff.

So, I call the bank this morning, and it seems that my card number has been comprimised, and so they put a $50 limit on the card.
I hate that. In the almost two years since we've moved to Vegas, we've had our Paypal account hacked into for $200, our credit card number used for plane tickets in Russia for $300, and most recently our bank card number was used for almost $1200 worth of online purchases!!!!

We've managed to get most of it back, but it's a long process with paperwork to fill out and waiting for a new card and such. It's a pain in the butt.

Morning ladies!!!! :)

Will someone please explain to me why that darn Weight Watchers ad at the bottom is showing me a big bowl full of delicious looking chocolate chip cookies?!?!?! :scared1:

Seriously, I was fine until I saw that and they look damn good. :sad2:

Yeah, that was my point. Hate to see Steph having to do extra work.

Dunno. I see Best Western... (they probably aren't that good... but so weird they're showing a lot of them)

I've been meaning to stop by, opened the thread and went to check on my pre-trip...and Dawn had written a message! So obviously I'm supposed to come in and say "hi".

Too much is going on right now, and talking about it is not what I want to do. Nervous times, though, nervous times.

The one bright spot is that hubby had his followup with the endo, and his a1c was 5.8. In Sept/Oct, it was something like 9+. The endo said "so you've been taking the metformin as agreed?" and hubby said "never started it". Guess that got a "well that's weird", but there were other things to talk about.

Also, something I ranted about at the Fall time visit...their scale was WAY off before. First the nurse weighed hubby, it read out in kg. She made an error in converting (not in Robert's favor!), and the doc wanted to refuse to believe hubby. I'm sure he's so used to people lying about their weight, to have someone who had been doing WW for 2 years and KNOWS his weight was an anomaly. But we stood our ground, as the dude was saying that hubby was something like 50 lbs heavier than he was. The MD stood his ground verbally, but when he went out to get something, we heard them fiddling with the scale (right outside the door).

And on this visit, hubby had magically "lost" about 60 lbs, LOL. He's lost *maybe* 20, but probably not that much, in reality, but they *obviously* had to recalibrate their scale, even if they didn't want to share that with Robert. :rotfl:

So yes, oh endo who sees patients far bigger than Robert, even your special high limit scale can get off balance, and you need to trust people who weigh in every single week, when they tell you it's very VERY wrong.:flower3:

Hi everyone! I'm at a client's office so can't chat much. Someone let me know what time to meet Sat. night and I'll be there--actually, earlier is better for me too.

Linda--how did you find out Magicale was being served? did you find out a menu too? I heard a "light buffet" is being served and trying to figure whether to eat before going or not. (Yay for Magicale!)

Steph: love love love the itinerary tags--can't begin to tell you how many times I consulted them.

Bridgette: fingers crossed that the fires aren't near you.

Everyone else--have a great day and I'll be back when I'm in my own office!

Cheryl

I've got a "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" ad. Does the computer read my mind? How does it know I have two Transformers crazy little boys?! :confused3

Thanks for all of the links, prayers and other info everyone! I'm glad I'm not there yet but feel helpless that I'm not... but its not like I'd be able to do anything if I was anyway.

Stay cool all yee west coasters! I haven't gone outside yet today in the midwest but I'm grateful it will stay below 80 I'm sure. I could be way off... I'm so out of touch lately  Well at least I have the bulk of the paperwork sorted. Whew! Now I'm about to brave the closets :scared1:

Molly, I'm so sorry you are having stressful times:hug: i hope that they get better!:wizard: It's good to see you post again.. we missed you!

Hugs for Beth just cuz:goodvibes
