O - M - G! I'm not sure if you saw my post about how Twilight inspired me to break up with my boyfriend of almost 3 years and kick him out of the apartment... well his name is Chase. I just thought that little comment you made about Bella and her new BFF, Chase was funny! :rotfl2::lmao: Whew... :lmao: My abs hurt on that one and the tears are a-rollin'!

That is SO funny . . . .life is weird sometimes

LOL :rotfl2:

I feel kinda guilty now for wanting more. Honestly though if you asked me "what would you want your ideal Mother's Day to be like", I really couldn't tell you. You pretty much just summed up what I need to do though, celebrate being a mom. I hope no one thinks I'm being stubborn for wanting more. It's just been such a weird day for me since my divorce that's all.
I don't think your being stubborn. I just hope you can find something that makes it special for you. Even if that something is of your own doing. kwim?

I was thinking about some of the posts I read and wondering if any decision was made about the T Shirt colors? Will everyone wear T-shirts or just shirts of the same color on the same days?
I think we decided on the following:
Red
Lime Green
Blue
Tie Dye
Tink tee from this last trip or plain white if you don't have or want the Tink tee.
New group tee to be determined.

It can be any style of tee, just in the matching color. For example, on red day you can wear a red blouse, red tee, red sweatshirt, whatever. It's about coordinating, not matching exactly.
The only day we'll all match exactly is the day we wear the new group tee which has not been decided upon yet.

Hope that helps! :)
Oh, and the Disney sign generator thing is fun isn't it? ;)

Oooh - regarding the tie dye, I am getting the scoop neck one (she has the Just My Size tees with the scoop neck) in purple and pink :thumbsup2 I'll post a pic once I get it :woohoo:

Wow, super slow day around here. Hope everyone was out enjoying their weekend.

Guess what I've got downstairs in my kitchen?!?!?!?!? :rolleyes1

A bottle of Rosa Regale!!! :yay: Weird considering I don't drink. Anyone want my bottle?? :rotfl2:

Jane mentioned her husband found a bottle at a Smith's store. Well, I have a Smith's less than five minutes away, so tonight when I was there, I finally remembered to look for it and sure enough, there it was.
They had lots, at least 9 bottles of it on the shelf. So I grabbed one just to have. It was $21! Is that right?? Are there different years? It had a date on it. :confused3

Anyway, at least now we know they do have them in Vegas, and they are close by if we need some for June. :thumbsup2

I'm off to bed now. Night ladies!

I love the Just My Size tees. They fit so much better than other tshirts.

Save it for Vegas!:goodvibes

I am pretty much exhausted. This weekend has done me in.

James and I took my DD and a friend of hers to the Ren Faire today. We had such a great time. But it was hot and I am tired. We decided that next year we are leaving them at home, and James and I will go alone. And we plan to dress up.

Now I am going to try to do some homework while I DIS.

HaVe a HaPpPy Monday Everyone!

DebbieLouWho.. i just *Love* your natural sense of self empowerment. CheryL and I were talking just the other day about how noone can make you do something unless you allow them. And You have taken mother's day and modified it to suit your family. All families come in different sizes, shapes and colors. What works for one won't work for another because the pieces are shaped differently.

I have a Planning request from the Mixer Night Committee.:worship:

Please may we have something like the candy buffet.. if not the candy buffet..then perhaps a individually wrapped snack buffet.

Meaning like the packs of cheese and crackers, the individual packs of oreos or any cookie packs.. mini chip packs..packs of nuts.. something like that could go in backpacks for little snacks while in the park.

Or we could always do the candy buffet again..that was SooooOOOooo much fun!!

Morning all! It is still ugly here and will most likely rain again today and tomorrow. Don't get me wrong we desperately need the rain but I hate having to go out in it and esp since we have to go to swim practice tonight and there is NO covering at all so I guess I am going to have to sit under an umbrella or something. I still feel like crap too. I had to stop taking my BC pills for this "break" week to have AF finally because my docs said I need to let that happen once in awhile but I am NOT liking it. I haven't had one since Last Oct and I KNEW this was going to happen. I also have not had a MIGRAINE either. That is why I take the pills non-stop to avoid the headaches. I have had a few mild headaches but not full blown bad ones and yesterday my headache turned into a BAD one. I could have easily gone to urgent care cuz it was THAT bad. I didn't even have any "good" drugs cuz I haven't needed any in so long. All I had was excedrin and that didn't even touch it. So I was laying on the couch with stupid ice packs and I was totally miserable. I have that apt on Wed with the OB and so help me if she tells me I have to do this every 4 or 5 months I am SO not going to be happy cuz this is NOT worth it and if she DOES tell me I have to do it then she better give me some good drugs cuz I was miserable yesterday and I still feel like crap. When I have this "week" I usually get rebound headaches throughout the week and just feel like crap the entire week. Plus since I haven't had an AF since October I don't know how bad it is going to be either. I am NOT looking forward to that either and I have to go to work today, court tomorrow and I have 2 doc apts on wed. The only thing I don't have is anything on Thurs and by then it "should" be almost over although since I haven't had one who KNOWS how long it will last. Sorry for the TMI but I am SO not happy to have to do this but I had 2 docs tell me I "had" to even though all the research I did online said it was not necessarily necessary. So I am REAL anxious to see what this OB says on Wed. I sure hope she has better news for me cuz this SUCKS!

Anyway nuff of that.

Janelle I just wanted to add that I know how you feel. And don't feel bad. I totally see what you mean. When the kids were smaller there was like 4 or 5 years that Shane was not home on Mother's day. He either had to work or had drill and then he went to Iraq (he was in the Army) so I know how you feel. I think we feel like when the kids are little it is the dad's "responsibility" to get a card or something on the kid's behalf until the kids are old enough to do it themselves if that makes sense. I never "expected" him to do it either but I think we want at least ONE day to take a break and feel special and like we are appreciated as mothers. We work our butt's off esp when they are babies and we want to feel appreciated. And I don't think there is anything wrong with that. So don't beat yourself up for feeling like you want him to acknowledge you. I get where you are coming from. Honestly for me my fav things is when the kids bring me stuff they make at school. Shane is always getting me WAY too much. Jewelry and stuff like that. And while I LOVE it I don't need all that. I just love that he does anything. I would just love it if I can have them cook me breakfast or give me a day off from doing the housework ya know? So anyway hope that made sense ;)

Anyway I am off to work today and I feel like crap so I am NOT looking forward to it. But kay serah serah! Hope everyone else has a good day! :)

Hi everyone. We went to visit Josh's dad in Palm Desert for the weekend. We had a nice time and the kids loved visiting with their grandpa. I'm heading out of town for work this week...(gotta love conferences...:rolleyes1) I'll be online at night when I can.

Anyway I hope you all had a great weekend.

I still haven't heard Ty call me mama, but Dave claims that he does at times when I'm not right there to hear it. For example yesterday at Target I got separated from the 2 of them and Dave is positive that Ty said "Hi mama" as he waved to me from about 50 feet away.

But, now that he's got his tubes in hopefully we will begin to get caught up on his speech delay. Cognitively and socially he seems to be right on track, we just need to get him some more words!

I understand what you're feeling. Rhys didn't say mama until he was 23 months old. His speech delay was severe, he's improving with speech therapy.

Good Evening everyone!

Just spent the last several hours (with but a few interruptions ;) ) reading every page of this delightful thread - not easy when the thread kept growing as I tried to catch up! :thumbsup2

After a while, one page merged into another in this ole' brain, but most important, what came through loud and clear is what a beautiful group of women inside and out. ::yes::

If you have room for one more, I would love to join you all for the Annual Girls Only Disneyland Trip! It would be a dream come true for me. :cloud9:

DL has always been my favorite, but our last visit was 1996! My children grew up (how dare them!!) and not one friend is interested in anything Disney  as impossible as that seems to me! :confused3 (still wonderful friends though).

I must warn you..I'm almost as old as dirt, but very young at heart (due to hanging out with 2/3 yr olds for 20+ yrs).:hippie: First visit to DL was 1958 when we lived in Oxnard and many visits until that last trip waaay too many years ago. :sad2:

I'm so sorry I missed the exchange - must have been fun!

Let's see...things to do...anything and everything ::yes:: except I'm a bonafide wimp, so will be a willing coat holder for TOT, Splash Mtn etc...hey, Soarin' is my thrill ride and I peek through closed eyes some of the time. :guilty:

Would love to have a roomie, and especially stay on site for the first time. :) Not crazy about HoJo's as we had a rather bad experience there and it's kind of a hike walking...CCI is a fav though, if anyone is staying there. Of course, flexibility will become my middle name. ;) A rollaway would be great.

Will try to post a photo - if anyone can photoshop it that would be terrific - not sure the others in the photo would want to be on the DIS. ;)

Anyone here not on the 'other' coast? ;)

Christine

p.s.I'm sorry...this is the only photo I can find right now. Can't believe I am doing this!!

:wave2: Christine.

Just a quick check in to say hi to everyone, welcome to our new ladies, and Happy belated birthday Courtney. :thumbsup2

I've been busy the last few days, so I haven't had much time to post or read back. Tell me if I missed any major planning details.

Anyway, it's been a long morning and early afternoon, but guess what......

I HAVE A NEW CAR!!! party:

It's a 2008 Ford Escape Limited - really nice and fully loaded. I'm so excited. :yay:

Wow! Very nice present

Saturday nights used to be way more fun than this.....

I find myself asking Josh when did we get 'old'. For us a great Saturday night now a days is when the kids go to bed on time and stay there so it can be quiet in the house.

Lookie what I just made! I think my eyes are bigger than my stomach. I was really excited about the deal on fresh strawberries at the market.

P1020062.jpg

I love strawberries.

so, my big news for the day is that Bella came home tonight--yep--a 9 week old Corgi. The funny thing was, I was sitting there trying to make my mind up between two of the three puppies (one was way too rambunctious) and my cell phone rang--I pick it up and guess who it was--Dr. AmySue!! Who said she was driving home and just KNEW that I was getting the puppy. And she was right--so with her help I decided to get the female and I'm glad I did--she is just perfect. (AmySue when you said these dogs were cute you weren't kidding!) And the great news is that the cats don't seem "too" stressed by it all--the older one is like--ehhhh--who are you? do I have to share food with you? No? ok, you can stay.

the other one is way curious and was doing ok until Bella barked at him then it was "I'm outta here!"--but I'm sure he will come around soon. Bella is asleep in her crate right now--she was really tired. And so am I--I will try to post pics tomorrow--I left my cable at work.

Can't wait to see pics of her.

Moning ladies!:goodvibes

So I have been missing in action these last couple of days. Let me know if there is anything I should know. Thanks!

I have another busy couple of days. It's Dave's BD tomorrow, so I'm busy planning a meal, and cleaning for company. My grandson Aston is also coming today. So I won't be getting as much done as I like.........but Oh well.

Hope you all are well!

Exactly. Our holidays are traditional at all. And as I get older, and the family changes, so does the way we celebrate them. Last year my parents "adopted" a friend of my brother. She has no siblings to speak of, her step father died long ago, her mother died about 7 years ago, and her only living relative is an aging grandmother in England. So she doesn't have "family". We found out that the 3 Christmases before we met her she spent alone at Denny's. From that day we made her a part of the famly, so my parents are hers now too. She is with us for all holidays and family celebrations.

Enjoy the conference as best you can.

And I totally "get" the wanting a quiet Saturday night. James and I were stoked that Taylor was working on a project for science at a friend's house. We watched tv, face booked, had dinner.....all in peace and quiet.

Zoe and I.

Cool.

Good morning, ladies!

Whew, I'm having one heck of a Monday. I guess that's what happens when you miss 4 days of work. :confused3

 to everyone!

Morning Ladies

Dawn~ Thanks. I figure if I want something I am not going to wait around for someone to give it to me. I will just get it myself.

Maybe I am kind of odd?
I have a good relationship with my ex's. I am friends with Jordans step mom. When relationships end, it just opens the door for something better, but in the end makes you realize that everything happens for a reason. John totally and utterly broke my heart. But I think that we just jumped into a relationship to quickly after his wife leaving and the divorce. I know he cares about me and I care about him. But its better that I have him in my life as a friend than nothing at all. Its great that we can call each other and be like wanna go have a beer? Jordan babysits for him, E loves Jordan. He calls him Jord.
Our holidays are usually nontraditional. My mom lives in Oklahoma, we are not close at all, so we don't spend holidays together.
Thanksgiving we eat with my aunt usually, or with friends and either end up playing Rockband all night or going to the movies.
Christmas, it varies. Easter we usually go to church and then do something fun.
I thank God everyday for the friends in my life. We are more like family than friends. So no one ever really spends the holidays alone.

Stacie that is great that your family "adopted" your brothers friend.

Stacie that is great that your family "adopted" your brothers friend.

That's just how we like to do it. She is the latest in a long line of "adoptees". My brother was in the military, so he has many friends who are/were in the military. So they moved around a lot, and most were never home for the holidays with their loved ones, so we always wanted to make sure they had somewhere to go. Just thinking that if my brother was away from home for a holiday, hopefully someone would do the same for him.
