Girls Only Trip (old planning thread, see link to new one in 1st post)

I still think this is a pretty image.. i printed a small one and ironed on my mom's shirt for the girls only trip..then sparkled it up..it was so cute.

Something like this tiara but with Mickeys head as part of it right in the middle. Are you getting my drift? Geesh I wish I knew how to photo edit!

I can draw! I'd like to contribute to a possible t-shirt design. Just let me know which elements to include and I can make some really cool designs! I also used to work with local bands and know of some really good places to order shirts from for those who are interested. Just let me know!
Hey that's cool!!!

Thanks!

I agree about the AP rates sounding better!

I kind of like the idea of a Character meal for dinner myself. The precious morning hours can be used for short lines!

Yep and yep.:goodvibes

Beth:rotfl2: ... oh nooooo .. i'm not good at stuff like that. I'm creative and can make treasure boxes and yummy things. But i'm not geared that secretary way.

I make a good MoNkEy BuTLeR:cutie:
:rotfl2: OKay then, official monkey butler you shall remain. ;)

hi girls--a couple of things

first my assistant called Disneyland and this is what we found out:

Group rates for next year 2010 are not yet available. However she will email us both between end of August through early September this year to quote rates for each hotel. I scheduled a reminder to call for quotes mid August.

I requested what the rates were this year 2009 for ten rooms to get an idea of what to anticipate:
Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel - $180.00 per night
Disneyland Hotel - $190.00 per night
Disney's Grand California Hotel & Spa - $260.00 per night

Resort fee of $12.00 applies
15% tax applies

Plus, on the character meal for next year--what if we did a Goofy's Kitchen dinner rather than breakfast? I know that at breakfast we're anxious to get out to the parks and have fun--maybe at dinner we'd be able to relax a little more and enjoy? just a thought
Thanks for that info Cheryl. I appreciate it.

When I do the poll, I can include dinner as an option as well. I'd really be open to either.

I know you do, and when I was typing out my reply I was thinking of you! :lmao:
:rotfl:
We'd love to see some of what your son can do! :yay:

I'm cool with whatever character meal we decide on. I like Minnie's for a late lunch or Goofy's in the evening. Not sure how many character meals I want to do though - buffets :scared:
I'm curious, why don't you like buffets? We've been to many over the years, and I think of all those only twice have I gotten sick. I've become ill many more times from just eating at a restaurant.
When we go, one trick I have is I always keep wipes and sanitizer in my purse and after each trip up to get food, I make everyone clean their hands before eating. That way you kill any germs you may have picked up from touching the serving spoons that everyone else touched.

Other than that, as long as the buffet is a busy one, with a high turn over in food so it doesn't sit there, and has cough/sneeze guards over the food, it's usually fine. At least the ones out here are. :confused3

Thank You for getting that information, CheryL.:goodvibes

I've never been to a Character meal at Disneyland.. at WDW, yes, but not at Disneyland. I don't know anything about them.:confused3
This year my Mom and I will be going to some of the meals.:yay:

Absolutely. The more design choices the better. :cool1: And then we can always vote and pick one or more of them. :thumbsup2

When I was younger, I used to LOVE horror movies. But now I don't like them at all. They're either dumb (like Prom Night) or too freaky (like The Ring, which still gives me nightmares.). :scared1:

Same here!!

The best buffet I have been to is Chef Mickey's.
Buffets are not my favorite, but I will go.

Oh I love the buffet at the Rio..its pretty tasty!

Yo, Tupac, SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! No way!!

Lilo & Stitch is a lot of fun!! Great interaction.

A good one that is kind of bloody but nothing like Saw or TCM, is the Strangers. I was watching it through my fingers the whole time! It's SO suspenseful!

Your assistant rocks!:thumbsup2

I like the dinner idea too!

Love the Seafood Buffet at the Rio, Why aren't we going to that on the Vegas trip?!!:confused3

I'm not big on buffets but when you have alot of people eatting together sometimes it works out better:thumbsup2

Is there a page that gives a description on the different buffets?

WHich ones are everyone's favorites and why?

That's where we usually go. It's good and has choices galore! Paris is good too, and Stacie said the Planet Hollywood one was good.

Dawn, the character meals at DL are basically the same as the ones at WDW as far as how they work. Buffets with different characters that come out and mingle. As Debra said, the Lilo and Stitch one is good. I loved that one.
Oh, and do you mind, I added that image to my sig? I thought it was too cute!

The Around the World buffet is good to! I will go with ya!

I like Lilo & Stitch, I heart Stitch! The character interacation is amazing! It was the best Christmas breakfast evah!!! My kids were doin the hula, dancin around, the characters kept coming around, it was really the best time.

We went to Goofy's Kitchen for dinner on Christmas Eve, if Kaeleb hadn't gone missing in DTD, it might have been better. But I did have a mighty tasty Peppermint 'Tini!!

Seafood buffet would be like my worst nightmare. :scared: :lmao: Seriously, that is one thing I just don't eat. BUT it is supposed to be one of the best, so if the June ladies are seafood eaters, then we can think about adding it. :thumbsup2 I'll sit that one out though for sure. :rotfl2:

This page has all the character dining: http://www.wdwinfo.com/Disneyland/dining.htm

Beth.. you are just like my daughter..she doesn't like seafood..we call it the Little Mermaid Effect:rotfl2: I think the plans for the vegas trip are good as they stand.
Of course you can use the images.. i'm just looking for the pirate princess queen theme online to throw out ideas for inspiration.:goodvibes

When I called group sales on April 9, these were the rates I was quoted. You did much better!

2/25/10 - 3/1/10 Disneyland Hotel $248.00 Room Rate per night (plus resort fee and tax)
2/25/10 - 3/1/10 Paradise Pier Hotel $224.00 Room rate per night (plus resort fee and tax)
2/25/10 - 3/1/10 Grand Californian Hotel $340.00 Room rate per night (plus resort fee and tax)

Needless to say, AP rates are going to be best potential for good rates (hopefully they will be available). I think I'm going with HoJo and will maybe switch to DLH or PPH if AP rates are good enough. I'm not seeing the value in going with DVC, since it's not the low season.

Oh, and I still have the group menus, if we're interested in a minimum $3000 dinner.

Okay--this picture is HEEELarious!:lmao:

Seafood buffet would be like my worst nightmare. :scared: :lmao:

I kind of want to throw up a little at the thought, just to be honest. The prospect of eating seafood freaks me out and I can almost smell the buffet from here. That would be one event that I'd have to skip :crazy2:

I agree. I'm going with the HOJO and will switch to onsite if the AP rates are doable for us. :thumbsup2

Morning all!

Dinner with Amy & Beth was tres fun last night, but this morning I woke up really sick with nasty stomach flu type thing. I certainly hope that I didn't poison anyone and that both of you are okay.

Being sick today is a major problem as I am the chair elect of our major campus awards ceremony that is happening at 4 pm today. As chair elect I am basically second in command and then next year I am in charge, so I really should be there, but right now that is NOT a possibility.

In the meantime I am excited for my mini getaway to Anaheim this weekend. Our plan is to leave LV around 1:30 and to hit DL in the evening after we are checked into the Hojo. Then we plan to do Fantasyland for the first 90 minutes of the day on Saturday and hop over to DCA for the rest of the day so that Dave can see Robert Irvine (Dinner Impossible on Food Network) and go to the Beer & Spirits seminar that are part of Food & Wine Festival. I expect to spend the evening back at DL, where we'll hit a few rides with the FPs that I pick up on Sat. morning & baby swap.

Finally on Sunday we will be at L&S at 8 am, then making a quick pop into one of the parks, and heading off to the Angels game before returning to Vegas that night.

Jane---I hope you are feeling better.:flower3:
