Girls Only Trip (old planning thread, see link to new one in 1st post)

********

Ummm that would be me. I got the time right; not the place. Went to the tour garden in DL instead of GR over in DCA. Oops!

:scared1:

I am coming for the entire week! I wish we had fall break. So I will be the "bad mom" who takes their children out of school for a vacation.

How much is the tour? Jordan would love it. But I am not too sure about Kaeleb.
I think we are doing the party on Friday night.

I think we are going to do Halloween shirts.

Your shirts sound pretty darn cool!

I'll be there with you in the bad mommy boat!! He will have to bring some home work though - just to make sure he doesn't think I'm too nice to him ;) I think the tour was around $40 (I can't really remember). If he's into it, I'm sure Jesse wouldn't mind another guy coming along, if Kaeleb is not into it. It's really not scary though - it's a Disney-villain thing, so nothing too woo woo. Although that darn Tower of Terror is pretty terrifying :scared1:

Good times!!!! :rotfl2:

Cheryl steered you wrong???? I thought you all stood me up :sad1:

I hope you can join us! I'm bringing my family.

We are planning a week long vacation leaving the 17th and going to San Diego. We are going to arrive at DLR on the 21st, leaving on the 25th. I'm so excited, and can't wait for Nahtan to see Sea World, and the zoo. (Not to mention Disney!) I am worried about him being able to handle disney though. He gets so overwhelmed with crowds, and waiting. It's very hard for him. I have months to work on it though.

Are you going to be at Disney that whole time? I'm just wondering if others might be doing something like was are planning to do. It'd be cool to see friendly faces at the other parks!

I didn't get to spend much time with you Wendy, but I really enjoyed my time at Club 33 with you. Your take on things is refreshing and wonderful to hear. I know you didn't post to get patted on the back, but I had to say something because I'm sure it took some courage to speak up. Thanks for adding your perspective. :grouphug:

DH and I have costumes that we got for a family party last year, but the boys got sick and we didn't make it. I'm tempted to drag them out, but we don't want to be the only adults not dressed up!

I don't know what to do for the kids. I made costumes last year, but doubt I'll have time this year.

I'm hoping we all have a good day today! I'm off to clean. If it's nice later, the boys and I might go to the park. It might get into the 90's though. If it's that hot, we'll probably just play with the water table on the patio.

I am hoping to go to Seaworld & the zoo. We have been to SW before, but we were with my friends family & it was rush, rush...I have never been to the zoo. We are staying in Anaheim, but will be driving back & forth to San Diego, and maybe up to LA one day.
What are you costumes?

My friends son gets very overwhelmed with crowds also. She hasn't been to the fair in years. I hope that Nathan does fine at Disneyland.

:flower3: Wendell - you rock :thumbsup2 Life can be tough, for sure, but it's completely how you choose to handle difficult situations that makes all the difference in the world.

My sister Wendell does ROCK!!!

:scared1:

Kaeleb is terrified of ToT!! He went on it in WDW (I think it is a little more scary in WDW than DL, JMO), he had his ears plugged, eyes close, it was funny!!
If I can talk Kaeleb into, I would love to go. If not Jordan, I am sure he would love to go. hmm..maybe we should be these 2 talking before we go.

Hey! Maybe we'll see each other. :)

Are we telling our costumes? In my family, it's a big secret what everyone is doing, but when in Rome.....

I'll show you mine if you show me yours!!! :lmao: :rotfl:
(tag fairy-stay away-luv ya, mean it)

More than half of the adults on the tour last year skipped the TOT - too cheekin!! It's okay though - they stay with the group up until you step into the dang elevator and then the guide takes them out the "chicken door" and you meet up after the ride. Believe me, if I wasn't there with just Jesse, I would have been the first in line to hot foot it out of there!!! I do the ride now, but not willingly and I do not enjoy it. I close my eyes the entire time. I don't scream though - I did the first time and I almost barfed, so I found that if I just don't scream, I don't get too queasy. Green is so not my color!

Jesse is so excited that there will be some guys his age there. Apparently I'm just not as cool as I think I am :smokin:

I don't have to wear a costume. You just never know which me will show up, do ya????? :lmao: Oh yeah, it's me, Theresa :thumbsup2

Oh, and thanks for the kind support everyone. There's so much else I want to say, but won't. Sometimes, it's best for me to just stay quiet. That way, I don't waste too much emotional energy on a thread about fun and vacations and friends and their lives.

Heather, you are such a great mother. It's so nice and refreshing to see a mother that cares about her children and will do anything and everything for them. Your story you posted on Facebook was so touching. Your boy looks very happy and I know that's because you are with him every step of the way.

All of the mothers on this thread are great. You all support and love your children so much, and it's very touching. :flower3:

I feel the same way about keeping quiet, but sometimes I just can't help myself. If there's something I feel strongly about, then WATCH OUT! :rotfl2:

Big hugs for everyone. :grouphug:

Oh Hi Theresa, I remember you from the other day...

Maybe you can email me what you plan to wear everyday, so then I will know you when I see you. Also, heads up on whether your hair will be up or down would be helpful! :rotfl:

Kaeleb was freaked out by the doorman. His vioce was creepy for him. But he was only 6 and wanted to be as tough as his big brother. The "chicken door", holy cow, I had to convince him it was ok to get in that "elevator", I think it was the pre-show that really freaked him out.

Why do our kids think we are not so cool anymore??? :cool2:

Jordan will be excited that there will be someone he can go to the parks with, that isn't his mom.

My niece (6 years old) was freaked when we took her on the ride in February. The doorman asked if anyone was scared and my niece raised her hand. He turned to her and said, "If you get up there and are scared, yell as loud as you can and I will get you down as fast as possible." Luckily she didn't get it. :rotfl2:

That's funny! Well, mean too, but funny  I was terrified the first time I went on it - and just before they closed the doors, this really big guy chickened out and had to leave  WTH :confused3 I was like - there are little kids here. If they're tough enough to do it, so am I........ I was a bit wrong here. I was not really tough enough to do it, more like too chicken to bail in front of everyone else:scared:

:lmao: I wouldn't be able to chicken out once I'm that far into the ride. I'd be too embarrassed, I'd rather suffer. :rotfl2:

Well I am glad she didn't get in. She would have been screamin!!

That is how I feel about Screamin!
I have done it twice. It freaks me out. I can do RnRC & EE, but Screamin kills me. Scares the poo out of me!

But luckily when were were in WDW ex-dbf had Kaeleb & I had Jordan. Ex-dbf is like Kaeleb & doesn't like scary rides.
I swear Jordan & I went on RnRC so many times....

Big guys who are chickens crack me up.
John his dad is this rough tough biker guy, but a totally teddy bear, who can't for the life of him get on rides, but can sure kick butt, well when he was younger.

Some of us are going to be there October 23-25. Some are coming earlier or staying longer but those are the main dates. Some are bringing their families, friends, kids, etc. others are going solo. I'll be there with my family at the Halloween party on Friday night and then solo on the 24th. I'm hoping to get a group meeting up for lunch at the new BBQ meal in Big Thunder Ranch on that day. And then I'm going to shop with my free gift card. ;)

My break is from Oct 24-30 so I can probably come for a day at least. I need to drive to LA anyway to fly to Florida to meet up with my parents.

Ok...I am so glad it has been a slow morning work wise because you all were very busy yesterday! I finally think I've made it through all of the posts! We spent the day at the beach yesterday. I cannot get enough of the beach and jump at the chance to go! DBF worked on Sat. and I thought about taking the kids but he said if I would wait he would come with us yesterday...even better! We had a great day and we didn't realize how hot it really was. His 14 yo DD did not want to come she doesn't like the beach...I just can't believe that but then she also likes snow...:rotfl: I think she is a Diva in training for sure! My 20 yo DD was always a tomboy so I have never had a girlie girl to have fun with so it is fun to have the fun active tomboy girl and the fun likes manicures and dresses girlie girl now too!

Warning this is long because I had so much to catch up on!!:hippie:

Holy cow ladies. I go to sin city for a few days, come back, and you guys closed down the old thread and start up a new one? Geez!

Thanks for sharing your trip to LAS and your pictures! Looks like you had a great time. DBF and I were talking last night about going this summer - so I am watching for some great hotel rates.

I had tater tots the other day at Sonic. They were soooo yummy!

Yum! We had a Sonic in the small town that I grew up in and that was the Sat. night 'hang out' spot when I was in high school. I don't think they have them here in CA.

I'm getting my Bachelor of Fine Arts with focus in Photography and then I'm moving to Santa Barbara in July to get my masters from the Brooks Institute of Photography. Good times!
Santa Barbara I am so jealous! I've always loved Santa Barbara. I traveled there a lot when I worked for my previous company to work with a magazine called Resorts and Great Hotels. Their publishing office is actually in Carpinteria, or it used to be...Any how my DBF's good friend went to Brooks and he has his own photography studio in Michigan. He takes some very cool and very unusual photos!

On another board, someone said that their 14-year old daughter has her own debit card and that it is quite common for teenagers to have their own debit cards these days.

My DD didn't have a debit card until she had a job when she was 16 and then it was only attached to her checking account. I would never have given her one at an earlier age or one that was connected to my account! Heck even now that she is almost 20 I told her I wouldn't co-sign on a credit card for her!! Yikes! I'm helping her pay for college and expenses but credit cards in the hands of college students is just crazy!!

Ventura County (Oxnard). So anyone coming on the 101 SB can pick me up!

Hi there! I live in Simi Valley so you could take the train to Simi and we could drive down together or if you could get a ride close I would be happy to pick you up!! Thousand Oaks isn't very far!

Yeah! Me too.;)

Wow! Glad you avoided the car accident. When we were coming home from DL last weekend the traffic was horrible and there was a motorcycle that was driving between lanes and obviously not really paying attention so the car in front of him stopped and he hit the back of the car right in front of us -lost control fell off and his motorcyle went skidding across two lanes of traffic and he skidded just as far...very scarry...luckily the traffic was moving slow and no one hit him after he fell off and skidded. He got up so I don't think he was hurt and we couldn't get over to stop to help because of the traffic.

For those who are interested, I posted a small trip report from out Chippendale's outing on the Vegas thread. The pics are there as well.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=31422208&posted=1#post31422208

The trip report is on page 121. There are pics and such before that, but the Chippendale part starts on that page. Enjoy!

You all looked great no wonder the men couldn't keep their hands off of you! ;)

I stiLL have baby weight and my kids are grown and have made me a grandMommY!

Me too and my daughter will be 20. I think I need to stop using that as an excuse!

I would suggest requesting a room close to the lobby. We did not and we were in a room basically at the entrance to DTD - so a FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR walk.
We were lucky I guess when we stayed there over Easter - we were on the 4th floor but very near the lobby atrium. It was very convienent but I didn't realize how luck were were!

I love Magic Mornings!!!
Me too! The kids got mroe done in that hour then we did the entire day before. They had a blast!

Courtney.. what color is your little chihuahua? i have a 2 year old black and tan chihuahua named little dog..sometimes we call her L.D. she thinks she's from Laguna Beach but reaLLy she's from a gas station parking lot in El Paso..sssssshh don't tell her.:upsidedow

That is too funny! You all talking about your dogs is making me miss mine! My daughter and I had adopted a 'mutt', Mili, and she was the best dog but when I sold my house I had my sister 'temporarily' keep her because I didn't want her to be cooped up in an apartment well...they fell in love with her too and when I was planning to move to CA and bring her they were so sad and cried so I decided to leave her with them....:sad1: I miss her and will be seeing her in May when I go back to Denver for my neices graduation!

I want a doggie--I keep hoping one will just magically show up at my door like happened to my Mom and Dad many years ago--he was the best dog. I want a dog to just come find me.

Me too but my DBF has two cats and I am not sure how they would handle a dog...they would have just had to get just to my Mili if I had brought her but to get a new one and make their lives miserable might not be far. :confused3

(I also want a tall handsome man to just come find me but that's another story.)

Hehehe! I found mine at WDW and when I wasn't even looking so it is possible! I so wish I would have met you at WDW when we were both there!!

I want to go!! I'll be there on my birthday Oct. 24 and was thinking of going there to celebrate. Either there or Cafe Orleans.
Anyone wanna celebrate with me? I'm open to either place. I love Cafe Orleans, but really want to try the BBQ.

I would love to help you celebrate your 29th birthday! ;) Also did I read that you live in Summerlin? We were there the end of March. My DBF is a rock climber and they had an event at Red Rocks and I talked him out of camping and getting a hotel near-by (Hmmm...sounds a little Divay to me!) but any way we stayed at a Courtyard Marriott and I am not sure if it was actually in Summerlin but I know we drove through there every day when we would drive out to drop him off and then when I would go back to pick him up. I told DBF if I lived in LAS I would like to live in that area.

I cannot sleep for the life of me!
I hate that! I have been there and done that...watched a lot of infomercials and really weird murder mystery's!

Maybe we should make that part of the trip next year......jello shot tasting.

:thumbsup2 Just like wine tasting...a GREAT idea!

I think there are three or four teams of DISers for MouseAdventure.

I have never heard of MouseAdventure but it sounds like a lot of fun! Is there a website I can go to and read more about it? DBF's 12 yo son is a walking Disney trivia encylopedia and I know he would love something like that but there may be an age limit?

Some of us are going to be there October 23-25. Some are coming earlier or staying longer but those are the main dates. Some are bringing their families, friends, kids, etc.
Sounds fun...maybe my family will be able to join you but it will depend on DBF's DD's marching band schedule.

What night are you all doing the TOT party?

What is the TOT party?

I will probably skip the tour--And what tour? I love tours!

Today is the 10th Anniversary of the Columbine High School shootings and I hope everyone will keep their families and every family that has ever been touched by senseless crimes in their prayers. I lived about 5 miles from Columbine during that time and a parent of one of the students who died worked at the real estate office that I worked as the office manager. It was a horrible, horrible day.:sad2:

Donny Osmond!!

I always wanted to marry Jake Ryan from Sixteen Candles (my all time fave movie), Kirk Cameron, WHOA...Joey Lawerance. :lovestruc

They were all dreamy. But my fave was Jake Ryan.....he was soo cool!!

Jake Ryan is mine, hands off woman!
