Hello there Miss Megan!! Always good to see you. Pop in anytime. How are you and that wonderful family of yours doing??? The twins must be getting so big now. Any pics to share?? :yay:

I'm off to bed because I'm exhausted and I'll have to be up in 7 hours. At least I'll be able to sleep in the car on the way there...Oh, wait, I'll be driving
Good luck to you Cristabel!! :wizard:

That is kewl that different trips stem from this one. Like the Vegas trips..and the Paris trip... and the WDW trip.
I agree. It's very cool, and makes me happy to see it. :goodvibes

And I love that I have so many Vegas buddies now who like to have a little more wild fun now and then. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

You're so sweet! It's actually Friday, but I'll start celebrating today if need be.

Have a great day!
You should start celebrating early. Why not, right?

Good morning Divas!!!! Be happy, it's Hump Day!!! :thumbsup2

Heather.. Hey Birthday GirL!:wizard:

I'll let Melody tell You, her Husband got very very ill. It was a bad trip and there was the language barrier..it was really hard on her.

Alrighty.. we are leaving now! Be back monday. Have a Happy Weekend Everyone!:grouphug:
Ok...I'll let a long story tried to be told in a short story.

My oldest DD Becky studied in Madrid in 2004. Dave and I decided that this was our chance to see Europe and visit Becky. I planned the whole thing myself following Rick Steves travel books. We were to be gone for 3 weeks, all over the place.

Our first week was to be in England. A few days into our trip, Dave had a heart attack while we were in London. Needless to say, it was a nightmare for him and I. I won't go into the details of it, but it was scary being so far away from home and the support of family. Changing hotels, being by myself, trying to get all of finances and health stuff together, making phone calls home with endless phone cards, being a total basket case.

He ended up getting angioplasty there, and the rest of our trip was changed dramatically. Becky was able to leave school a week early to make her spring break into 2 weeks. To see her at the airport in London ater he got out of the hospital, was the best medicine Dave could have had. We had an extended vacation in London. We did as much sight seeing as possible without tiring him out. When the doctor finally gave his blessing for us to leave, we headed out on the trains back to Madrid. I will say that it was a blessing that we were in a English speaking country for all of this to happen. The rest of the trip was not so fortunate.

Now keep in mind, that I no longer could use my original train schedule, and finding internet cafes was a challenge to find out when trains were leaving, making connections and so forth. Never got to see Pais, Venice, Florence or Rome as planned.

While on the train in Germany, we heard about the terrorist train bombings in Madrid. I was soooooooo thankful that Becky was with us. From then on the trains became HORRIBLE!! I just can not explain to you, how scary it was for me. Especially in France. I call them the Gestapo. Very rude, banging on bathrooms while I was in there, demanding Passports with machine guns strapped on their backs. I know that they were being cautious, but their attitude was so bad. I was also an emotional wreck from the heart attack experience yet.

It was weird, but Dave became very reliant on me for EVERYTHING, which is so not him. (I've heard this happens to heart attack patients) So I took care of everything money, schedules, phone calls home, food, finding lodging, making sure we didn't sleep through a train change. I didn't get much sleep at all.

Finally arriving in Madrid was just plain bad. We saw the bombed trains coming into the station, and our hotel reservation just happened to be by some government building with lots of red votives in honor of the victims. And now the Americans were the bad guys, with posters and all. Can I just say that I felt like Dorothy from the Wizard of OZ. "There's no place like home, there's no place like home."

Even though I tried to keep my story short, there is so much more that happened. It would take a book almost. I still cry when I talk about it. My best friend tried to get me to go to Holland with her and her Mom and Sister this month. It would have been the perfect opportunity to visit, cuz we all would have stayed with family there, and her Mom speaks Dutch. But I'm still not ready..............not ever sure if I will be.

So that is why, I won't be saving for a trip to Paris.:sad2:

One good thing did come out of this experience. While at the internet cafes, Becky emailed all of friends about her Daddy asking for prayers. It was forwarded to an old friend from HS too. They became connected again, and now this old friend is her husband. :cloud9:

Have fun! I am excited for you and your college adventure! Oh and no sleeping while driving. ;)

Have a safe move Cristabel. So exciting, a new adventure:banana:

Oh, Vicki, I keep forgetting to say, but thanks for sharing your tour story. That sounded so cool!

You are welcome...I was excited to be able to share it here!

4 weeks from today I will be in Disneyland!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!

Yay! Can't wait! And I'll get to see you and your cute family again and of course share Pomme Frites!

On the travel planning:
I would be up for a WDW Girls only trip!

As for DLP I would love to go but I've never been to Europe and I told Bob that for my next 'big' birthday, (I can't even bring myself to say the number yet), I want to go to Europe and it will be in 2011. I really want to go with Bob but depending on when you all plan to go I might be able to plan the Europe BD trip around your DLP trip and meet up with you for at least a day.

Jen - I do want to include Switzerland in my Europe trip so I will be sure to keep in touch so that we can meet up with you there! The other night we were having dinner with Bob's climbing group and someone asked the group if we had the opportunity to move to another country would we do it. Several said no but not me...I said of course I would...I am so excited for you and happy that you're getting this opportunity. I would do the same in a heartbeat but of course only if Bob could come along too! ;)

Oh Melody, I'm soooooooooo sorry this happened to you! I can totally see why it would make you cry. You poor thing. I didn't know all this happened to you. :flower3:

Oh my gosh, what a nightmare! Sorry your trip turned into such a trip from h-e-double hockey sticks!

I don't think I'd ever leave the US again if all that happened to me Melody. Completely understandable. How scary for you. :grouphug: I'm so glad your DH recovered, and I understand what you mean about leaning. My dad has been cancer free for over 2 years now, and is still like that some with my mother. It's hard on her, and one of the reasons I don't see her much. Hopefully my dad will start traveling again.

I have such security issues, I honestly don't know if I would be comfortable and feel safe somewhere else. I went to Jamaica and had a run in with some store workers (really large beefy store workers) that really scared me. They accused me of stealing a rum cake. They saw me carrying it, I then changed my mind and put it back where I found it. Well, that wasn't where it belonged, and they tackled me as I walked out of the store. It was scary at the time, but got worse for me when I realized that I wouldn't have the same rights there as I do at home. Luckily, they listened to me, and I showed them where I put it. I then got yelled at for messing up their store. That was where I found it though. :guilty:

 Mel! I'm sorry you had such a bad trip. (Those words don't seem to cover it! :sad2:)

Oh my gosh Heather, that is just insane! You mean they actually tackled you?!!! Talk about over reacting over something as silly as a rum cake. Good grief!

I've never traveled outside the U.S. (except to Tijuana when I was a kid, and of course many times to Canada) but after hearing these scary stories, I'm not sure if I want to now. YIKES! :scared1:

Neener neener neeeeeener.......I'll be in Disneyland in less than two weeks. LOL! ;) ;)
:cool1: YAY!!

Melody, that is so scary. What a nightmare. I do remember you telling that story before on my Halloween pre-TR. I don't blame you for not wanting to go.

Heather, that is scary for you too.

I've always said to Ruben that I have ZERO desire to ever travel outside of the U.S. even though he wants to.
I just don't. The thrill of an adventure fascinates me, and I love watching shows like Amazing Race where other people do it, but I know I never could. There are so many wonderful people and places here in the U.S. that one day when the kids are grown, Ruben and I want to sell everything, buy an RV and travel the country. :)

Love is having to take a bedroom with you everywhere you go! ;) :thumbsup2 :rolleyes1

I'd do the RV thing for a while, but I think it would get old after a while. I know some travel nurses that do it though, they travel around the country working, and living in their RV. It might we tempting when DH and I are older, and the kids are grown.

Oh, and yes they really tackled me. My ex and my friend's husbands were right there though, and kept me from falling.

Don't worry though, I got my fill of Rum Cake at the next port, Georgetown, Grand Cayman! popcorn::

I've been thinking about Cristabel all day--how excited she must be to be going to college and being on her "own" (and how scared too!)

And best wishes to AmySue who is having a knee procedure tomorrow a.m.!

Hello there Miss Megan!! Always good to see you. Pop in anytime. How are you and that wonderful family of yours doing??? The twins must be getting so big now. Any pics to share?? :yay:

Thanks for asking!! We are great!! I cant believe that the babies are almost 6 months old.. We are adjusting to having twins way better then I thought we would. Its still hard, but not AS hard as I thought. They are HUGE. Seriously. Vinny is creeping towards 20 lbs, and Jasmine is around 17. They are alternating between sleeping through the night, and waking up once or twice. Vinny has just started trying to get up on his knees, and Jazzy is trying to roll all over the house. They are SO FREAKING CUTE!!:love: Pictures?? I might have one or two. ;)

Here is just Jasmine, since she is totally fed up with all the picture taking in that one..

Those are just my two favorites!!:love:

Heather! Now that was a bad experience for you too!!

I'm telling you what.............until you visit other countries, you don't realize how spoiled we are in the US. I'm not saying that Europe is bad, it's just different. Like finding public restrooms are a trick. And then most of the time you have to pay for them. I ordered hot tea from McDonalds, just so I could have a code to let me use their restroom. If you order a dinner out.......don't assume that the bread is free when they set it on the table. You are charged. You also need to be very specific when asking for water. One time we ordered plain bottled water from the waiter, cuz we had been forwarned. He brings the club soda ones. Language barrier. We said that wasn't what we thought we ordered, and he told us, "Too bad." :sad2: In the US, that would have been fixed without any squabble! It's just different, like I said.

Anywhos, I didn't tell you all my story to scare you off. Most people have a wonderful experience, and can't wait to go back again.

So ladies plan away, and I will gladly read along, and live vicariously through you.:goodvibes

Thanks for the reminder Cheryl!!

How exciting for Miss Cristabel!!! All on your own, and going to a new school. God bless and keep you this new year.

AmySue, I hope everything goes smoothly, and very soon you will be chasing around cats and dogs again!!

Hey Megan!! Nice to see you over here. Once again, your pictures are just too cute!! :cutie::cutie:

Two things.
One, I think that should be a new tag for you! LOL It's hilarious.

Two, I love your new sig pic, but now I can't see all the pirate one or the ticker. Not sure if that's just on my computer or not.

And best wishes to AmySue who is having a knee procedure tomorrow a.m.!
Yep, definitely well wishes for AmySue.

Awwwwwwww, I love them!! The first one is too cute, "smacking" the forehead like that. :rotfl:

And I'm glad to hear things are going well. I knew they would be fine. You just do what you gotta do right? :thumbsup2

I think the only way I'd even consider visiting another country is with someone who lived there and knew the ins and outs, as well as the language. But that's just me.

Afternoon all! Mel that is a crazy story about your Europe trip and very scary too. I had a lot of crazy things happen to me in Europe as well but no time to go into it.

Just got back from the specialist and I have an abscess! Besides the other issues I have in that area I have a large abscess and that is probably why I have been in pain for the last 3 months both there and in my back and possibly in my bladder as well.

He has to go in and cut it out and let it drain. He is going to take care of the other stuff that I have going on as well. He said I needed surgery but didn't say how soon but they were able to get me in tomorrow believe it or not! So I have surgery at 1 tomorrow. I am not looking forward to having to go till 1 without eating because of my migraines but I guess I will have to make due somehow.

I just hope this goes ok. Of course I have to go under general anesthesia again and then I know it is going to be a very painful recovery. He said it should take about 2 weeks till I am back to normal. I am nervous but I also want it fixed.

Anyway that's what's up with me.

I may not be on for awhile it just depends on how much pain I am in. I will probably be on tomorrow morning before I leave but not sure after that.
