Wow, that's one reason I never wanted to own. Well, two reasons actually. One, I like the freedom to move if I get bored. And two, it's not enough to have the money for the mortgage, you've got to have additional for repairs, upkeep, upgrades, etc, and we don't.![]()
I know. And $300 a month might as well be $3000 a month for us. We don't have any extra. We rent a house and we have to take care of certain things like weekly landscaping and any pest spraying (spiders!!!!) but if something major goes wrong like plumbing or air conditioning, etc. then we can just call the landlord and not have to worry about paying for it.
Plus I've never been one to really want "roots". My MIL and FIL married at age 19, bought a house and lived there for 40 years! I could never do that. I get bored too easily.
When the kids move out, Ruben and I are going to sell everything we own, buy a motorhome and travel the U.S.(Well, that's our goal anyway)
Yayyyyy. We love renting too. Thought about buying for a month or two, in a rent-to-own situation from our beloved landlady, but then the brand new townhouse started showing its problems, and when we left there after our lease was up, and the other owners were having to band together to hire a lawyer to sue the builder, we were immensely glad to be only renters.
We want to buy a boat.

My great grandfather (who worked on the railroad) would come home and find out they had moved!
