Just a quick fly-by on my way out the door to my big party.....

I'm not a huge cake person, but if we're getting pizas from Costco, why don't we get a cake there? Or a couple of pies?

Or we could just go back to whoever can bring something desserty, do so. I'm thinking we won't be short on food.

I will call her and open a can of whoop a--!

Yeah piping in here, that cm is full of crap. I ordered a 10 inch round cake for Lynn's 16th birthday in February (see cake thread) it was HUGE. WAY too big for the 6 of us. And we had it at Storytellers at the GC. You could EASILY get it there and then take it in a car and DRIVE it around on the streets to the HOJO. NO one would take it apart or anything. In fact we WALKED it back through security or whatever cuz we were staying at the Desert Inn I believe at that point cuz we had a TON left over and non one took it apart or anything else and we had to go through security to get through the esplanade.

But anyway maybe if it was a WHOLE cake they might have a problem but ours was already half eaten but anyway we had NO problems. Now I do know that they do sheet cakes and that would probably be enough for 30 people but anyway just a suggestion. You could probably order one at GC or Disney hotel or something and just have someone who has a car DRIVE it around to the hojo. Just a suggestion. But that CM was full of it.

:)

Even better idea!!!!!!

Why don't we each donate a $3-5 and somebody can purchase a bunch of the different carmel apples from the park? That way we can cut them up at Hojos, and they'll be way easier to eat. Plus we could try different ones and not have to commit to a whole apple.

I just called the hotel and they do have someone who arranges this sort of thing. I've left a message and will let you know what I find out - if this is an option.

I can see that carrying a large cake back to the hotel may be a slight challenge :scared: and I don't want to be the one to explain why no one gets cake!

We'll figure something out - don't let grumpy people get to you :cheer2:

ohmygosh.. january... you are *so* funny!!:rotfl2:

billyfan... hey that's a good idea with the apples..

so many good ideas in this thread!

i was just going to bring some white chocolate covered pretzles or some kind of bar cookies...or candy... mmmmmm..wiLLy WoNkA candy!

Why don't i have candY?:confused3 :guilty:

Have you heard the news, now 3rd hand smoke kills. What the heck is 3rd hand smoke?

Oh, hey ladies, all this talk about renting is getting to me. Didn't I tell you I was in Real Estate? You're making me want to get out my sales skills and demonstrate the pros and cons and show you the way to make home ownership affordable, profitable and pleasurable:) But, I won't, because A: I don't sell anymore, and B: I'm tired! But I will say this, real estate has been the absolute best investment that we have ever made, and we have not always been in the right place at the right time. Okay, Good Night!

3rd hand is all the chemicals from the smoke that hang around on hair, skin, and clothing that can still make people sick. Picture, if you will, sitting in class on a rainy day, when a smoker comes in and sits next to you, with the aroma of wet cigarette smoke emanating. That smell is chemicals, and those chemicals make people sick.

I had a friend who worked at Intel making chips, and if they smoked they had to shower and change into completely different clothes before they got into the clean room, because the 3rd hand could harm the chips. No perfume, either.

For each person who is absolutely over the moon about their house I have another story of doom and gloom from a house. And almost no one I know is over the moon about their house, they are always complaining!

And it isn't an investment until ya sell it or have it allllll paid off (and are living for free, well, except for maintenance and taxes), IMO. Like my MIL, she has gold and jewels, and ahs always said that buying good jewelry is an investment, but now she's in a right pickle and broke with debts (after losing two homes through no fault of her own) and she REFUSES to sell them b/c she wants to pass them down to her daughter and sons. Who will promptly sell them. :upsidedow

If it's not obvious, I'm not in the best of moods today!!!!!

re: cake. I think I've read that there's no way to pick 'em up from anywhere but a restaurant, and I'm not sure it's just any restaurant.

I know it's fun to get a disney cake, but seeing what they did with that awful Dreams cake I'm not sure I'd trust them to make one that's actually good. And Von's has a bakery, and at the very least has their enormous Colossal Cake (it looks like the slabs of cake from Golden HOrseshoe, but for 1/2 or even a 1/3 of the cost per slice) that one could buy and put everyone into a chocolate coma with.... Or a decorated cake that I can never buy b/c of hubby and son's stuff. Or even Costco, I liked their sheet cake I had at a baby shower (but not my own, nope, all wishes were gone against at my own baby shower...sigh).

Again, I'm not in a good mood! Harumph!

Wait, I just remembered they don't deliver in the parks either. It's Disney hotel rooms or Disney hotel restaurants only. So delivering it to Ariel's isn't an option anyway.

Jen, to be honest, I never listen to the podcasts. I forget about them actually. But I think we can organize a photo of a bunch of us having a Dole Whip for Bob. I know I'm planning to get one anyway, so why not? I think it would be great. Maybe we could make a sign or poster or something to hold up while we all pose with our Dole Whips.
Anyone else interested in this?? It seems like such a simple but nice thing to do. :goodvibes

Ok, let's do it! :thumbsup2

Beth- can you suggest a time that might be possible to squeeze this in? And I'll go ahead and offer to collect donations to Give Kids the World at this meet. Totally optional. No amount too small. Can provide checks or cash. I will add up whatever we get as a group and send it on in to the podcast team.

I can make a sign as well, unless someone with more graphics ability wants to volunteer.

Just a small and simple way that we can spread the magic. :goodvibes

Poor Beth... it was like on Seinfield.. instead of the Soup Nazi... Beth spoke to the Cake Nazi... NO SoUp for YoU!

I'm in on this if it's at a time I can do it (and will donate anyway)

I was just looking at the cake thread (it's on around page 5 or 6, I should have bumped it up but aforementioned bad mood caused me to close it snippily instead of bumping it) and there's nothing new listed.

Helpful post of mine, eh? :)

I gotta take E up the hill to feed a friend's cats (lucky duck she's in Hawaii) and I'm not looking forward to it. I think I'm more allergic to cat *litter* than cats themselves, and it's not enjoyable to deal with it. Also the boy cat has been strangely sick, he's losing weight (much needed weight loss but it's weird to see it happening) and I have a VERY bad feeling about him and just hope he waits until his owner gets home instead of getting sicker or worse while I'm in charge....yesterday he pooped on the carpet right in front of me and Eamon, I mean we were sitting ON the carpet and he walked up, scratched the carpet and pooped. Well cats don't do that, in my experience.

So think good thoughts about Lincoln the cat. And for his sister Betsey, who knew something was wrong b/c she started acting all weird right before he did that.

Happy Hump Day ladies!! :goodvibes

Thank you everyone who posted their pizza preferences. We appreciate that. :thumbsup2 Was I the only one who then craved pizza all night yesterday?? :rotfl2:

I can't believe how close our trip is getting. I love how all the planning is really coming together now. :cool1: :hyper:

I craved pizza all night too. I am gonna cook me up some pizza rolls to have me with the craving. It won't be the same, but it will have to do.

After work I went to dinner with my mom. Know what I got? Pepperoni and sausage pizza. :rotfl:

Lucky!

:lmao: I'm so jealous! Even this morning I was wanting pizza for breakfast. :rotfl2:

Nothing wrong with pizza for breakfast.

I was just wondering if any of you ladies are podcast listeners? If there are any podcast fans out there, I have a couple questions...

1. Anyone interested in Having a Dole Whip in honor of Bob "Bawb" Varley ? We could post a photo from the DL Divas. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1812243

-Jen

Ill pose for the photo. I'm allergic to pineapple, so I don't do Dole Whips. But I will hold one and put on a smiley face and everything.

I will call her and open a can of whoop a--!

Ok--I like the caramel apple idea and as much as I would love a Disney cake, I think the logistics may be a bit much.

I say we just stick with the "everyone who can bring something" and the pizza party committee will look into seeing about getting something extra at Costco. I think the idea was to try to stick with finger type snacks as much as possible for dessert.

Yeah, let me know what they say.

And she wasn't just grumpy she was a *****! I asked her twice "so there's no way to just pick it up" and all she could say was call your hotel and see if they have a bakery.
What a snob. So if I'm not staying onsite I can't have one of your precious cakes? Screw you.
All she had to say was, "I'm sorry, we don't allow them to be picked up under any circumstances. They have to be delivered to either a hotel room or a hotel restaurant." Or whatever. Give me some answer not just blow me off.

I'm sure there are lots of bakeries in the Anaheim area who make cakes just as good and just as cute as Disney for a fraction of the cost. Maybe they need to get their nose out of the air. :snooty:

Ok, rant over. Back to your regular chatting. :goodvibes

I like that idea. A dessert buffet! Different candies, cookies, caramel apples, etc. MMmmmmmmm. Now that would be good. LOL

Ok, let's do it! :thumbsup2

That might be the hard part but let me take a look at the schedule and see what I can do. :thumbsup2

Cake is good, but so are the caramel apples! YUM! We watched them being made the other night on Main Street, it was funny because you could tell that the 2 people making them were saying things like, "I can't believe those people are watching us! Don't they have something better to do than watch us?" Or something along those lines! :rotfl:

Got to agree. All are having some great ideas, but carrying them out might just be too difficult. Those who can bring finger type desserts, please do. And those who aren't able to, that's fine. I am sure we will have more than enough.

Got that right!! Breakfast of champions! :thumbsup2
That's nice of you to pose even though you can't have one. :goodvibes

OKay so back to desserts. I had an idea.

Anyone ever heard of a candy buffet? They are popular at graduation parties, birthday parties and even weddings.

Here is a link to some images so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about: http://images.google.com/images?q=c...tIndex=&startPage=1&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi

And here's a pic: (but it doesnt' have to be so fancy)

What about instead of cake or cookies or whatever, each person bring a bag or two of candy? :confused3 (those can pack easily too)
We can set up one table really pretty or fun like with a table cloth, some dollar store containers, and some party favor bags and make a candy buffet.

People can take what they want and eat it that night or have it to snack on at the parks.

I can even buy the containers. My Dollar Tree has some fun ones.

What do y'all think? It's just an idea. Might be easier then cake.

I love that idea. I'm in for that!

Plus, any leftovers will be easy to take back to the room or to the parks the next days.
