Thanks to the person that brought the Jolly Rancher lollipops to the candy buffet. I just had a pink lemonade one and it was delicious!

Hi guys!
I hope you all had a very nice Saturday. I am pooped. We took Maddie and our nephew, Taylor, to run errands. We went to Cabela's and looked at the animal exhibits, got our fishing license for the year, and looked at the huge fish exhibit. My DH loves that place. It is just eh to me. I do love the candy coated almonds that you can smell as soon as you walk in. Reminds of me of the smells at Disney.:goodvibes

I need to catch up to the thread again! lol. I must keep up with the latest news.

Happy Birthday Mary Jo! I hope you have a wonderful day!

I am listening to Dis radio and the Illuminations song is on. I miss that place. Epcot is my favorite park (next to Disneyland;) ).

So anyone have exciting plans for the night? I am going to chillax before hitting the homework and then watch some movie Brent rented. I think it is Transporter 3. I didn't really like the first two, maybe this one will be better.

Happy birthday Mary Jo!

In case anyone needs shoes and doesn't know, shoes.com is having a sale today. I ordered through a rewards site which had a 20% coupon, so there are coupons out there that you can add to the sale. Got each of us a pair of athletic shoes for about $80 total, which we're pretty happy about.

But it's only going for about 6 more hours, if that, so check it out if you're in need of shoes!

(and to give equal time...I was about to order from Famous Footwear yesterday...they too have a 20% coupon floating around out there, and their prices were the same for the shoes we wanted...and they had free shipping with 3+ pairs of shoes...BUT we have FF here and therefore it owuld have been another 9% in tax, so I went with shoes.com. But if you do NOT have a FF in your state, and therefore aren't charged sales tax, they seem to be about equal for the things both sites have!)

I did not need to read this...I LOVE SHOES!!!

Hi all! I've been off the boards for a few days because I've been helping my friend (she was with us last year at Goofy's and she and (gasp) her DH joined us at Fantasmic last year, too) with her DS's Boy Scout Eagle Ceremony. We spent two days getting everything done and set up and then found out that the hall was rented out for last night and had to tear everything down and put it back up again! AHHHH. AND, Zoe's bday party is tomorrow and we have 12 little girls coming here for a tea party. I plan to collapse tomorrow afterwards.

Could someone post, or send me a PM giving me the skinny on the mini meets coming up? And what details we've settled on so far? I'm sorry, but I can't catch up and I want to make sure I'm getting reservations in place, etc. And, if I'm understanding it okay, the October trip is a family one?

Oh and Happy bday Mary Jo!

Molly thanks for the deal at shoes.com. I'm debating getting a pair of running shoes (even though I don't need them yet....;) )

Maybe we should get these for next year's big trip.

What do you all think???

I'm kidding, just thought they were cute.

I love those shoes! I had a pair of denim ones that I completely wore out. It's nice being able to just slip them on, no tying!!

I have those in PINK

I actualy like those shoes also!

Stacie, I'm so glad you like your toy story mania. It is fun isn't it? I'm glad they still had it for you. :thumbsup2

I can't wait until DH comes home. I'm counting down the minutes.

One question (or more!) about the Halloween party in Oct. Do they have a special parade and fireworks like they do at WDW? Are all the characters dressed up? Can you ride the rides during the party? Thanks!

I have crooked since birth little toes so I rarely wear anything but flip flops. I might make an exception as those are so cute.

Ok girls so I hope you are having a great evening.
I was going to stay home. Just John (he really is the best ex I have, besides the fact I have known him since he was 13) he called and was like I am sorry he ended up being a creep. But I never got to hang out with you on your birthday so a few of us are going out tonight. I will pick you up at 9.
John is a sweetheart. FRIENDS, we are only friends. He really is the bestest!!

Evening all. I am back from my day. The girls did GREAT at their site sale. Shane and I sat at one end of the store and Katy was at the other end with our leader. Shelby had one man that bought a WHOLE case of thin mints and we had a lady buy 8 boxes of lemonades plus 3 boxes of peanut butter patties plus we had several other people buy multiple boxes and about 5 or 6 people just give donations including one lady that bought 30 bucks worth and gave me 40 and donated the other 10 in change to the military. We had a thing that you could donate a box to the soliders.

Katy had a person donate 100 to the mlitiary!! It was REALLY cool!!!

So we had a GREAT day. I had a gal from work yesterday buy 3 boxes and Shane had a guy buy 6 plus my mom bought two and Shane bought a TON to freeze (more than I wanted around!!) so just between all of OUR orders that got quite a few but I would say they probably got at LEAST 100 boxes each if not more. So I am happy for them since they missed out on ALL the indiv sales this year.

Anyway then we took Lynn to work at 3 and headed to the movies only to have her call at 5 RIGHT in the middle of the movie. GRRRRR. I am REALLY getting tired of this McD's and her checks haven't been adding up and I am not sure if she has been lying and saying she is working when she isn't or what the heck. So I have secretly been trying to keep track of when she is going in and getting off and then what her actual hours are on her checks cuz it is getting REALLY frustrating. Esp since her job is a WAYS from our house. It is SO not worth driving all the way over there for only 2 hours!

Anyway we WERE going to go to this cute little mexican place with the girls but we had to go to the total opposite end of town to pick her up so we did and just went to El Toritos. Now we are home just chillin. About to watch a video.

Anyway Heather I hope you start to feel better and we didn't stay at the Hojo's but I tend to agree a little with what you were saying. Mom and I stayed at the Desert Inn and it is RIGHT across the street and I was able to get 119 a night the same week so if I was able to go through Getaway today or AAA months in advance I bet we could get some really good deals on rooms esp if we go at a time that is not considered high season. Maybe not quite 80 bucks but probably fairly cheap! And I have stayed in most of those hotels right along there and they are all really nice. Some even have breakfast.

Plus I have to say the saving in walking is worth the extra money for me ;)

But anyway I am off to watch my video. Have a good evening and see yall tomorrow.

Someone (a beloved person who is wonderful in all ways) in my group made sure we did not ask CMs any questions.

:rolleyes1

I'm waiting for Sleeping Beauty... I mean my Disneyland buddy to wake up so we can go. I'm all dressed & waiting. lol

Mary Jo--I hope you had a WONDERFUL birthday at Disneyland today!

Hmm?? I must have missed it too!!

For goodness sakes ladies, I get on this morning and I'm 15 or so pages behind!!!

So Linda, You do NOT NOT NOT look pregnant. I even thought you had lost weight, remember? The nerve!!! On the good side of it, is that she thought you were young enough to still have babies..........that is pretty cool!!!:cool1:

Now I need to get something straight here. Do you guys mean to tell me, that the entertainment rate was good on all of our nights there?:confused3 And when I checked out, and got the rate for Sunday night, they didn't tell me, it was good for the rest of days????????? That's down right stingy!!!

Whoever calls, let me know the turn-out, OK?

Now I have some sad news.

It turns out that my Sister's cancer did get into some of her body. So she has to have chemo. And I was supposed to go to DL with her, my other Sister and my Mom for Mother's Day. We were also supposed to go to Club 33 too. So once again, plans have changed. But that is OK, cuz there will always be another time. I just want my Sis to be well!!!

Well I'm off to my DD's track meet.

Have a good day! :flower3:

Mel, I am so sorry about your sister. Hugs and prayers to her (and you and your family).

And I totally missed the post about Linda being pregnant--does Bree know?

Yeah, I found out about it yesterday when I logged onto the HOJO's website to look at the dates for October, and noticed that we could have had that rate the whole time! I seriously doubt we get a refund though, they know we'll be back, so we have no leverage.

I was going to call Monday morning, but have to work now. Does someone else want to call? Maybe Cheryl can put her lawyer voice on, or Beth can sweet talk Lorealle. I doubt Lorealle has the power to issue us a refund though.

Heather I hope you feel better soon!

I can call her, but not sure if I can do it today. But I'm not sure she's there on weekends anyway. If you don't want to wait, you can try to reach her and see what she says. Otherwise I will try tomorrow.

Now I am so jealous! I want to be back there now.
Let me know what you think of Witch Mountain. My kids want to see it too.

I second that!

I was going to let you call . . . . but when you called are they applying it for everyone in our group or do we each need to call?

I forgot to ask earlier. Who brought the strawberry marshmallows??? They are delicious and mine are gone. I'd like to get some more, I'll be eternally grateful for the store name and/or website.:worship:

steph

Dawn brought the strawberry marshmallows. Not sure where she got hers, but a lady brought some to the shower today and she found them in the Easter candy aisle of the grocery store.

That's not what I heard....:rotfl2:

so joking, I don't want the leader of the pack to kick out the new girl already :)

You really don't know Beth very well, do you? this is the woman who worships stripper shoes. You're safe, believe me!

I swear it wasn't me. ;)

Trust me, there isn't much you can't do to not get kicked out. You are in.

What she said. (and I don't think it was me either)

I have to say this, and hope I don't get flamed. :flower3:

I missed the magic of the Hojo. It was cute. I can see where kids would love the pirate cove thing in warm weather. The landscaping was pretty, and the room was clean and cheap (although it could have been cheaper!). We had a corner room with no balcony, and did not have the upgraded mattress. The people at the front desk were mixed. When we checked out the man at the desk could not understand how we were paying. (Splitting the remaining nights in half.) The baggage man was nice. I don't know, it didn't seem that special. :confused3 I think I missed the specialness. I've heard people say Lorealle was great to us, but I'm missing where. :confused3 I found the ent code both times myself by looking on the website. We all had to call ourselves to get it applied to Sunday night, and then I find out not everyone got it even after doing that! We were told that she would apply the code to all of us for the whole stay if it became available. She didn't. She updates the codes on the website (I think!). She updated the ent code on the website on March 5th, and came to our party, but didn't tell anyone about the code. :confused3 I'm not trying to be hard on her, but I just don't see where we got any special treatment. OK.....flame away....:headache:

ETA-I do want to make it clear that stay was good, it just wasn't what I expected after all the praise on the board. It's that extra something that I missed. Also, imagine how excited and ready to party we would all have been if we knew that we were saving money the whole weekend at the party! I could have found something to do with that extra money![/QUOTE]

I totally agree with you too. Although I didn't have any issues (well, other than the Ent. Rate thing which Molly was right and I was wrong!)

I actualy like those shoes also!

Stacie, I'm so glad you like your toy story mania. It is fun isn't it? I'm glad they still had it for you. :thumbsup2

What toy story mania thing are you all talking about?

For the Halloween party, I don't remember a parade or anything. Basically, they have candy stations set up around DCA and various characters out walking around for photo ops. some, like the princesses, are staged in certain areas with backdrops and photopass photogs. Lots of people wear costumes, but I think most of the characters are in their "regular" costumes. And yes, the rides are open.
Ok girls so I hope you are having a great evening.

Have fun on your latest "non-date"!!!!!

As for me, I am tired. the bridal shower was a huge success, but a lot of work and then i went over to the nursing home to visit my Mom for an hour or two. I'm back home now, and dragging. The good news--however--is that my Mom is due to be released on Monday! I am so glad--last night she seemed really overmedicated and not getting better so i talked to her nurse and we adjusted her meds and she is so much more alert and herself today. Of course, I need to (i) work, (ii) get ready to pack for WDW and (iii) cook a corned beef tomorrow (the latter for Monday dinner when Mom comes here). Not sure how I'm going to get it all done--better make a FULL pot of coffee in the morning!

Ok, other than that I'm going to let the rest of you chatty ladies take over and I'm going to bed soon! TTYL!

Although I didn't have any issues (well, other than the Ent. Rate thing which Molly was right and I was wrong!)

Well, I wasn't really right. I mean I guess the end result was, but the way I got there was wrong, LOL. I thought that those dates had been offered on the ent. rate long before, I had forgotten or missed that it was only Sunday (I think I forgot it).

Both right, both wrong, that's the way this Libra likes it.

Gave E the most bizarre consequences for his naughty behavior ever today...he's been playing with food behind my back...putting mustard into soymilk that he says he's drinking, that sort of thing. Today I realized he'd been pouring water into his bowl of popcorn...he said he was drinking the water and eating the popcorn (which he said was good), but it was absolutely not what he was doing, and we have RENTED hardwood floors (that's a funny way to say it) and I finally just lost it. Too many warnings, too little action on the wasting food thing.

So for doing that, he lost his playmobil *accessories* (weapons, hats, cuffs, that sort of thing) and his tinkertoys AND lost the right to watch TV AND lost the right to get food and drink from the fridge. Only the last part is even partially related to the "crime", LOL. I won't be posting on mothering's Gentle Discipline forum :hippie: about those abnormal consequences, that's for sure! :rotfl:

Robert's annoyed with me about it, b/c he knows how bad I'd tweak if he did all that for such a no-no. Poor Robert. Meanwhile, Eamon is finding random playmobil bits and bringing them to me..."here Mowy, you forgot this sword/dagger/hat/etc".

I still have done NOTHING towards the scrapbook. I have absolutely no get up and go with it! So I'm on here again and have Mamma Mia on. Sigh.

I never tried the cupcake, but cupcake is a code word my BFF & use for umm...something else...:rolleyes1

This is a family site! :lmao:

Big Hugs! It was so Great to meet You!

How sweet of you to take your mom! I love white water snacks because it is nice and quiet. We like to sit outside and feel the cool breeze while watching the jungle of green fern sway. Just the other day we saw a ferocious kitty cat come out:rotfl: ..she came over and sat on the other side of the fence.. i gave her little bits of my chicken fajitas.

Something super yummy that i have only found at white water snacks is the fruit tart. It has a thin pastry crust which inside is lined with a crisp chocolate then filled with a light creme pudding and beautiful berries with kiwi fruit is laid on top and glazed. This is soooooooooo YummiLicious! We wish we had taken one back to the room.

The beef fajitas are also good there, they will give you some extra nacho cheese if you ask for it.

My mom and i shared a chocolate caramel sundae on mainstreet, it was soooooOOOooo good and a fun memory made, be sure and get the waffle bowl.:goodvibes

Hi Dawn! I loved meeting you too! :goodvibes Thank you for the recommendations for WWS!

I'm waiting for Sleeping Beauty... I mean my Disneyland buddy to wake up so we can go. I'm all dressed & waiting. lol

I hope you had a great birthday at Disneyland!

It turns out that my Sister's cancer did get into some of her body. So she has to have chemo. And I was supposed to go to DL with her, my other Sister and my Mom for Mother's Day. Praying for your sister! :goodvibes

wow, beth.. i would have been the not HaPpPy monkey if i was on hold 20 minutes then they hung up on me.
Oh no, I hung up after waiting for 25 minutes. Then when I called back, the front desk took almost a full two minutes to answer. It just rang and rang. I finally got transferred to in house reservations, but it was just a hassle.

Hello, it would be nice to have rooms where the sinks were outside of the bathroom. makes it's easier and faster to get ready in the morning. I stayed at Best Western in Jan. which is directly across from the park entrance, it was nice, clean and had double sinks outside the bathroom, also a free breakfast which was nice to grab some juice or coffee to have while getting ready. Cheap too, we paid $89.00 a night.
In the room we had at HoJo in October, we had a separate sink outside of the bathroom. That was nice. And the room was much bigger over all.
I'm open to other hotels. Especially if they are closer and offer some sort of free breakfast.

Ok so what was the entertainment rate??
The Ent rate for the rooms we had is $69.

In case anyone needs shoes and doesn't know, shoes.com is having a sale today.
Do they have stripper shoes?? :hyper:

Could someone post, or send me a PM giving me the skinny on the mini meets coming up? And what details we've settled on so far? I'm sorry, but I can't catch up and I want to make sure I'm getting reservations in place, etc. And, if I'm understanding it okay, the October trip is a family one?
Good luck on the birthday party!! :wizard:

I'm not entirely sure on the mini meets. I know there is one in April but since I am not going to that, I honestly haven't been following plans closely.
There is one in October. The 23-25, for Halloween and my birthday! :goodvibes Some are coming solo and some are bringing family to that one. No definite plans have been made for that yet though.

One question (or more!) about the Halloween party in Oct. Do they have a special parade and fireworks like they do at WDW? Are all the characters dressed up? Can you ride the rides during the party? Thanks!
Heather, I've been to MNSSHP in the MK so I know what you are talking about, and let me tell you the Halloween party at DCA is NOTHING like that.

DCA has what they call a calvacade instead of a parade. Basically it's one float that goes through the park with characters on it dressed in Halloween costumes, and some dancers along side it. There are no special fireworks.
Some of the rides are open, but not all and the lines can get really long.

The characters are set up around the park to take pics with but those lines can also get really long. For example, we waited over a half an hour to see the stepmother and stepsisters from Cinderella. And the line for Mickey and Minnie was at least an hour long. Of course this varies from party to party, and obviously the party dates that fall on a Friday or weekend will be much more crowded.

I feel they missed a chance to do something really great with this party. I love what they do at WDW with the headless horseman and the awesome parade. Having said all that, would I still recommend it......yes, once, to say you did it.
JMO. :)
Plus the parks themselves are done up so nicely. It's fun just to be there and see everything. And of course can't forget the HM Nightmare Before Christmas version. LOVE that!!

Here are some of the pics we took at last years Halloweentime:

You can get tons of candy!

The yummy sourdough bread at Pacific Wharf comes in jack-o-lantern form:

The area around Big Thunder Ranch is all decked out, and they sell cookies you can decorate. (although not sure if that will change with the new BBQ they are adding..... )
DSCF5732.jpg

Even the napkins get a Halloween theme! (yes, I actually took a picture of a napkin. I love ALL things Halloween. lol)
DSCF5702.jpg

It's just a great time to be in the parks. Unfortunately it's also become a busy time to be in the parks, and going over a weekend has me nervous, but I'm sure it will still be fun. :)

Now I suddenly can't wait for Halloween! :rotfl2:

So which other hotels would you recommend. I'd love something closer, and with a breakfast. And we'd need a conference room too. One we don't have to pay an arm and a leg for, and that will let us bring in outside food.
Let me know which others you've stayed at. Maybe we can find someplace new for next year. I'm open to ideas and suggestions.

Meanwhile, Eamon is finding random playmobil bits and bringing them to me..."here Mowy, you forgot this sword/dagger/hat/etc".
Awww, that sounds so cute to me! :rotfl:

And the Best Western has an Entertainment Card rate too :thumbsup2 They also have microwave and fridges in the rooms, and wireless Internet (which is important to me as I work). I had big issues with the Internet at Hojo - I spent a TON of time on the phone with their Internet support (which is off-site) trying to get things to work properly as it kept dropping.... Not good when you're trying to work!
