That's great to hear about the refund!

I wonder if the person checking everyone out was the guy who checked me IN on Friday. He was so confused. I told him that my roomie had already checked in, and gave Cheryl's name. So he looks up her last name, and asks if her name is with an S or a C. I say "C". Well, it seems that her name with a C was "booked in the meeting room". He actually called over his co-worker to ask "does this mean she's just staying in the meeting room during her stay?" :confused3

Who even would think that?

The co-worker pointed out that the likelihood of a Sheryl and a Cheryl with the same last name being booked there for the same nights wouldn't be very high, so to just look under Sheryl, and there we were.

He was very confused.:headache:

My phone says it's now been 20 minutes on hold with HoJo. It keeps telling me my time is valuable and thanking me for my patience. Then it tells me my call will be answered in the order received. :headache:

On the plus side I am listening to the theme from Haunted Mansion...... :hmghost: :hmghost:

Well, I finally hung up after being on hold for 25 minutes. I called back to the front desk. It rang for almost a full two minutes before it was answered and then I told the person who answered how I'd been on hold that long and asked if anyone was available in in-house reservations today or should I call back Monday. I was nice about it, but they were a bit snippy. :rolleyes1

Anyway, I finally got through to someone and she said her manager would look into it and probably on Tuesday would credit the difference to my credit card. So we shall see.

OK, now I've wasted enough time here and need to get my day going. :rotfl: Talk to ya'll later. Have a good one!! :)

What in the heck do they have to be snippy about?!! It's not like they were on hold for 25 minutes. Stuff like that irks me.

I never told anyone this, but my friend Cathy (who was on the ladies trip with us last year) went down to DLR with her kids this last December. It was a very spur of the moment trip, so they didn't even have reservations anywhere.

Anyway, they arrived in the DLR area and started checking the hotels around the area for availability for two nights and their rates. She check out the Portofino and a few other hotels before getting to the HOJO. She said she stood there for 10 minutes watching the young front desk people just stand there and chat to each other before a young man finally asked her if he could help her. She asked about availability and rates, and he told her they had a room for $169 plus tax per night. She told them that the Portofino offered her a room for $120 per night (which was true), hoping that they would match it so she wouldn't have to drive back to the Portofino. But instead, the young man said, "Well, I guess you should stay there then."

She was like.....Geesh, okaaaaay, well thanks.

So they ended up staying at the Portofino for $120 per night. She said it was nice.....they liked it.

Wow, that's completely surprising! I paid cash, so I doubt I'll see it back.

I held the room with my CC and then paid cash for it. They are mailing me a cheque this afternoon (she checked with the manager, who okayed it, who will process the refund!)

My phone says it's now been 20 minutes on hold with HoJo. It keeps telling me my time is valuable and thanking me for my patience. Then it tells me my call will be answered in the order received. :headache:

That's why I jumped on and did it PDQ! I was going to wait for someone else, but I was brave and did it first (no waiting on hold - except when she was getting it okayed with the manager :thumbsup2)

I hope everyone is able to get money back for the entertainment rate. :wizard:

On another thread, Lorealle popped in and noted some comments about one particular employee who was snippy or even rude to a few people. She seems to really want to know about it, so if you caught the name, you might want to drop her a line about it...

I'm back.... :guilty: They didn't nap very long.

I have to say this, and hope I don't get flamed. :flower3:

I missed the magic of the Hojo. It was cute. I can see where kids would love the pirate cove thing in warm weather. The landscaping was pretty, and the room was clean and cheap (although it could have been cheaper!). We had a corner room with no balcony, and did not have the upgraded mattress. The people at the front desk were mixed. When we checked out the man at the desk could not understand how we were paying. (Splitting the remaining nights in half.) The baggage man was nice. I don't know, it didn't seem that special. :confused3 I think I missed the specialness. I've heard people say Lorealle was great to us, but I'm missing where. :confused3 I found the ent code both times myself by looking on the website. We all had to call ourselves to get it applied to Sunday night, and then I find out not everyone got it even after doing that! We were told that she would apply the code to all of us for the whole stay if it became available. She didn't. She updates the codes on the website (I think!). She updated the ent code on the website on March 5th, and came to our party, but didn't tell anyone about the code. :confused3 I'm not trying to be hard on her, but I just don't see where we got any special treatment. OK.....flame away....:headache:

ETA-I do want to make it clear that stay was good, it just wasn't what I expected after all the praise on the board. It's that extra something that I missed. Also, imagine how excited and ready to party we would all have been if we knew that we were saving money the whole weekend at the party! I could have found something to do with that extra money!

whispering...

I agree.

Since I've stayed at PPH, Carousel, Hilton, and Anabella, along with HoJo 3 times now, I can see where HoJo is a good place, and the beds at last were comfy (I've gotten the old, unchanged rooms before there, and the beds this time were more comfy than any of the above hotels in the rooms I've been in so far), but I totally agree with what I quoted there.

To you I give you big hugs and thank you for your honesty. Now for the flames, hmm, are you ready? flame broiled chicken, flaming hot buffalo wings, and flambe should be the flames you get, love your post and am sorry you had such a not so great time with the hotel. Now to get the flames out and toast marshmallows, lol, I only flame idiots on another part of these boards, lol.

Another marshmallow my dear?:wizard:

:grouphug: :cheer2: princess:

:cloud9:  :thumbsup2

I'm still hanging around the house. Waiting for the rest of the family to get ready so we can go to the movies or out to eat or something! (sigh)

Anyway, I popped back on and read the HoJo replies. I don't think it's the be all and end all. I will say that's the only hotel I will stay at when I travel with family because my kids adore the Castaway Cove area. And to be honest, I've only ever stayed in the Premium rooms which are much nicer and bigger, and have a view of Disney and the fireworks. This was my first time in Building 2.

Our room on this trip was just ok, nothing great and definitely showing some wear and tear. We did have a balcony and the upgraded bedding however, so that was nice.
Lorealle said in her initial emails we'd get the $84 rate or the ent rate if it became available, whichever was cheaper. Obviously the ent rate was cheaper and so that's what we should have gotten. However, I think we all had to ask for it. I don't think it was automatic. kwim? The problem was, as was stated, none of us thought to ask. At least I didn't. :confused3

In any case, I've always been open to trying a new hotel for the ladies trips. As I said, when I'm with family, we go HoJo. But for solo trips, I'm open to anything. I'd actually love to try the Candy Cane Inn, but their darn rooms are almost $150 a night when you add tax! And for me, it usually ends up boiling down to money.

But if someone knows of a place that isn't too expensive and wants to suggest it, please do so!! I'm not opposed to trying someplace new at all, as long as it's clean and close to Disney. :)

OK, I'm going to light a fire under these guys before my whole day is wasted. lol

hhmmm... i'm so sorry you all had trouble with the hotel rates. i hope everything gets worked out.

wow, beth.. i would have been the not HaPpPy monkey if i was on hold 20 minutes then they hung up on me.

weeeeeLL... my boyfriend took me to get the supplies to make churro... we found *such* cute things. I will begin working on it tomorrow. i can't wait.:yay:

then we went for a late lunch at our favorite mexican resturant, and margaritas..it was really great to sit and visit. We talked and talked, it was a happy time :lovestruc

Ohmygosh!!

It's Miss MaryJo's birthday!!

MaryJo.. Thank You for all you do as moderator on this board. You are so well suited for this as You are a person of great compassion and understanding.

May this year hold only good and true things for You!
May you be blessed on this day and always!
Many Many HaPpPy Birthdays to You, my Friend.
:wizard:

Since I know you guys don't mind off-topic chatter (meaning it's not related to our girls trip but it is related to Disneyland)...

I'm taking my mom to Disneyland next week for her birthday

Does anyone know how this "free on your birthday" thing works? I know she has to bring her driver's license but do we just walk up to the turnstiles?

This is entirely on topic! I missed this before. Go ONLINE NOW and sign her up at the Disney site. It took about two days and they emailed me back my confirmation number. I stood in a looong line (I think it was the cheerleading leftover crowd) at the ticket booths. I think the one at the far right tends to be shorter.

When I got there, I told her I had the confirmation email on my phone but I forgot to print it out. She actually looked at my phone to get the confirmation number and then processed me.

So it really helps to register online before.

I applied the $69 credit to a Southern Cal AP. The cheapest one is the $138 socal select making your payment for an AP around $68 but it has many more blockout days, so I went for the next one, which cost me around $100.

It's great because there are discounts with the AP on food in the park, even at some stands.

If you already have an AP, they give you a $69 gift card.
Or you can just get in the park for free if you don't want the AP.

Wow! Page 23 and my first post!

Also, if you already have an AP, you can go to City Hall to get the gift card. That's what I did in January.

Heather, I downloaded Toy Story Mania to my phone, been having fun with that. And I agree about the Hojo's. My impression was that if the Ent. rate came up for our dates, we would automatically be switched. I didn't even think to ask when we checked out, although it did get applied for Sunday. I had to look at our bill and make sure we didn't get charged for the free porn we had on Thursday night!!

Hello, it would be nice to have rooms where the sinks were outside of the bathroom. makes it's easier and faster to get ready in the morning. I stayed at Best Western in Jan. which is directly across from the park entrance, it was nice, clean and had double sinks outside the bathroom, also a free breakfast which was nice to grab some juice or coffee to have while getting ready. Cheap too, we paid $89.00 a night.

ME ME!!!!

UNLESS I CRASH YOUR PARTY

DEFINITELY LOOKING FORWARD TO HANGING OUT WITH YOU TOO!

HMMMM. BETH ARE YOU GOING TO CALL LOREALLE OR SHOULD I?

AND LINDA, BETH DOESN'T DRINK SO WE GET THE MAGICALE ALL TO OURSELVES!!!!! (UNLESS STACIE SHOW UP TOO, IN WHICH CASE WE WILL HAVE TO SHARE ... . BUT THAT'S OK CAUSE SHE'S OUR DIS DIVA SIS!)

I wil help...

Hmm?? I must have missed it too!!

For goodness sakes ladies, I get on this morning and I'm 15 or so pages behind!!!

So Linda, You do NOT NOT NOT look pregnant. I even thought you had lost weight, remember? The nerve!!! On the good side of it, is that she thought you were young enough to still have babies..........that is pretty cool!!!:cool1:

Now I need to get something straight here. Do you guys mean to tell me, that the entertainment rate was good on all of our nights there?:confused3 And when I checked out, and got the rate for Sunday night, they didn't tell me, it was good for the rest of days????????? That's down right stingy!!!

Whoever calls, let me know the turn-out, OK?

Now I have some sad news.

It turns out that my Sister's cancer did get into some of her body. So she has to have chemo. And I was supposed to go to DL with her, my other Sister and my Mom for Mother's Day. We were also supposed to go to Club 33 too. So once again, plans have changed. But that is OK, cuz there will always be another time. I just want my Sis to be well!!!

Well I'm off to my DD's track meet.

Have a good day! :flower3:

Oh Mel, I hope your sister is ok. I will keep her in thoughts & prayers.

Nope. It's just. ;)

Thanks. I saw all the mother/daughter ones and had to add those. So cute.

I've let Adam and Noelle go off by themselves. He's 14 and she's 12. They go off together, with a cell phone and a planned meeting place and time. It's always been fine.

He has a phone!! Hmm....I am sure that he would just love that!! I would hang out the munchkin. I am sure he would try to lose his brother some place in the park!!

Ok so what was the entertainment rate??
