*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

Katie I am so sorry for your sis! Many prayers to her and your family!

 Katie, what sad news.....it's frustrating when the hospital sends a patient home too soon (darned ol' insurance companies)...... Your sister & all the families will be in my prayers.

Some of you may remember a few days ago I mentioned that my sisters MIL had a heart attack and I was watching my nephews a lot.

Well she passed away :sad1:. It is very sad & I could hardly understand my sister when she called at 1am. The bad part is the hospital sent her home yesterday eventhough she had only been out of ICU for less than a day & my sister didn't understand why they sent her home because they weren't even done with all the testing and she didn't look well.

Eventhough she wasn't related to me she did more for me and my kids than a lot of my family members. She was a very friendly, giving & generous lady and died too young. My kids are upset right now because they just don't believe it and are really mad at the hospital.

My sister is having a hard time because she was VERY close to her MIL. It's just hard because all of this was sudden and unexpected.

I'm very tired right now & I'm hoping I will still make it to the meet tonight but things are still up in the air.

Oh Katie, I'm very sorry to hear this. :sad1:

And your sister is right......that is VERY strange that the hospital would release her MIL while she was so sick and her heart so fragile. Why would they do that? Sounds very negligent to me. :confused3

Well ladies, today is my big TEST day.....I'm taking the Praxis this afternoon at 1:00pm. I hope I pass it. UGH, it's going to be like taking a 4 hour SAT test. I'm looking forward to getting it over with though.

The bad part is that I have some kind of red, swollen, painful eyelid thing going on. It started yesterday, and this morning I look a little like I've been in a fight. I put a cold beer on it last night to keep the swelling down, but it didn't help. I can't look up very much because my painful swollen eyelid is in the way, and I can 'feel' it there, which is creeping me out. I have no idea what this swollen eyelid thingy is or why it happened. All I know is that it hurts. Ouchy. Oh well, crap happens and you gotta deal with it.

But my biggest worry today is passing the Praxis. Wish me luck. :scared:

I'm ready to take the plunge! I'm definitely coming in Feb/Mar. I'm leaving it up to all of you to not let me back out. Hopefully I can also meet some of you in October because I'll be there with DH and the kids Oct.18-24

How do I go about finding a roomie and getting in on tours?

Angie

Good luck on your test........YOU CAN DO IT!!!! :cool1:

The eyelid thing sounds like a stye (infection) which will probably need meds to make it go away.

Capri, try getting a washcloth and putting hot water (as hot as you can tolerate) and put it over your eye.

...I put a cold beer on it last night to keep the swelling down, but it didn't help.

LOL only you Capri . Not an ice pack but a beer. Thanks for the laugh.

And I hope your eye doesn't distract you too much during the test. GOOD LUCK.

Capri--it might be stress induced. But I agree with Courtney--try the hot pack thing.

Katie: so sorry about your sister's family's loss. I would also try to get to the bottom of why she was released.

Looking forward to meeting Bridgette tonight and seeing some of the other Divas!

Good luck Capri!!! And I agree with the others about your eye! Try the hot pack and if that doesn't work go to the doc! ;)

Thanks Sarah. I was going to call and book it, but if you're doing it then cool. Thanks roomie. :thumbsup2

I booked our room! Got the entertainment rate for the first 4 nights and the AP rate for the last night. Do either of you have an entertainment card?

HI girls.

Big hugs to January. It takes a lot of courage to leave. When I left my kids dad it was the hardest thing I had ever done. But there is only so much crap a person can take. I am with Mel, lets punch him out, creep. Its great that you have your family to rely on. Once you get a rountine down, life gets back to normal again, whatever normal is. I am glad he isn't being a jerk and is cooperating with you and the parenting plan.

So for the meet & greet are we having pizza again? The candy buffet was a lot fun.

I agree, loved the candy buffet!

We started painting our house last night. Luckily I got the job of watching the kids and making dinner while my mom and dh painted! I hate painting but I like the way it looks when it's all done. I think I am getting out of it tonight, too. I am picking the kids up from daycare and then taking them to the gym with me to work out leaving my mom and dh time to paint without the kids around!:thumbsup2

Angie

Welcome to the group! As far as the tours go, we haven't started signing up for them yet, but if you keep an eye on the front page and on the thread title you will know when it is time to sign up! As for the roomie, most people like to get to know others on the thread, see who they gel with and then see if one or more of those people are looking for a roomie. I know there are several ladies on the board that don't have a roommate picked out yet. You may want to go ahead and reserve a room as you can always cancel it later for no penalty and that way you know you have a room. If you do HOJO they have the entertainment rate going right now for the first 4 nights of the trip. I believe we are staying in the premium rooms bldg 1...top floor? Any more questions feel free to post or pm me...Also, Beth, as our fearless leader, always has answers as well! She is fabulous!

It is sooo hot here and I cant stand it. I am afraid to see my PG&E bill:scared1:

My baby is turning 7 tomorrow. Where does the time go? I am happy with the wonderful, beautiful young lady she is turning out to be but I want my baby back.

Ooh, went and saw Harry Potter last night. It was good, sad, and exciting.
It's supposed to be 110 here today. I'm also scared to see my bill. Our AC runs 24/7.

Happy early Birthday to your DD! Time does seem to fly doesn't it? I can't believe my twins just turned 9!

I think I am the only person who won't go see Harry Potter. I've never seen any of them except for the very first, and I don't remember it.

:lovestruc Beth, you and your husband have such a cute story.

My parents are high school sweethearts. They started dating at 16 and got married a year after my Mom graduated high school (my Dad is 3 years older). They were married for 2 years, got divorced. They were divorced for 10 years () and somehow met again and started dating. They got married again and 2 years later had me! :yay: Within those 10 years neither of them got remarried or had children. :thumbsup2

DBF and I have been dating since we were 16. Wow, where'd the time go? It will be 6 years next month.
Thanks. That's a great story about your mom and dad! Wow, after all those years. How neat.

And look at you and your DBF. Way to go! :goodvibes

So my son's birthday is February 27th and he has given me permission to be gone on his birthday so I am going to have to have something great planned while I am gone. It is probally harder on me then him on missing his 13th birthday.
Yes, it will be much harder on you than on him. Darn that mommy guilt. But in my family we rarely celebrate birthdays on the actual day. Usually they fall during the week and with school and work it's too hectic so we'll wait until a weekend. You can just do an early celebration for him and make sure he gets some cool gifts to keep him busy while you are away.

Aw damn. I had a whole big post full of replies typed out and lost it all.

Oh well, I'm not doing it again so here's the short version:

Kelly, good idea on the b-days. We can maybe do it at Goofy's Kitchen, order a cake or something, and have the b-day gals wear pretty b-day sashes.

Capri, good luck on the test. I agree about it being a stye on your eyelid. They can be contagious so be careful. Adam had one, needed eye drops from the doc to clear it up. Warm compresses are best. No more cold beer unless it's for you to drink.

Angie, welcome! So glad you made the leap to join us. No turning back now. lol Sarah's post pretty much summed up what I had typed. I'd book a room of your own now just to make sure you have one, we still have time to find a roomie. As for the tours and meals, I will start sign ups for those once it gets closer.

Laurie, hugs to you! It's a lots of stress and worry you have going on right now. Hang in there. I hope things start to come together for you soon.

Cheryl, no big head here. Anyone can do this. lol

Ok, there. I think that was most of it.

YAY, you're coming! And we won't let you back out! As far as roomies go, I think Beth has the down low on who needs a roomie.

A hot pack huh? Okay, I'll try anything. It hurts to even blink.

And thanks for wishing me luck on my test. You guys are the best! (BIG HUGS!)

LOL only you Capri . Not an ice pack but a beer. Thanks for the laugh.

And I hope your eye doesn't distract you too much during the test. GOOD LUCK.

Well it was either a beer or a Diet Pepsi (I guess I'm a carbonated beverage kind of girl), and since it was evening time, I didn't think I needed the caffeine before bed.

Thanks babe for wishing me luck on my test. I'm nervous.

Thanks Bethy.

What the heck is a stye anyway? Is it an infection? I'm going to look it up online .

And uh, I did drink the beer. I just took sips between holding it on my eye last night while watching a movie with my hubby. :rolleyes1

But I'll be sure to do a warm compress instead. :thumbsup2

I just noticed that somehow or another I don't have a roomie for the trip. :confused3 I thought I was in on the room with Stacie/Amy, etc., but looks like their room is full. So, if someone would like so share, I'm looking!
