((hugs)) bridgette. I remember when I went off to school it was hard and also as I mentioned before when I moved to Washington with my ex-husband leaving my family was SO hard as well. I think you are right, once school starts and you have stuff to keep you busy hopefully it will get a LITTLE easier. I am glad you are getting to meet some of the gals for your birthday. They are all GREAT and you will have a LOT of fun!!
Happy Birthday early in case I forget on Thursday!
Thanks Kelly! I have been pretty good today and didn't get choked up when I talked to my mom on the phone. I actually had a great time at class and then came home, ate some lunch then headed to the laundromat. I felt like an idiot I had to ask for help with the machines. It was like laundry heaven! I could do 4 loads at once. Why didn't I think of this before?! I almost passed out because it got really hot in there but I kept folding and got the heck out as quickly as possible. Now I'm having a hard time, but I took my ambien and now I'm about to go to bed once it works. You're so sweet thank you so much for sharing your story!
Hugs and more motherly hugs to Brigette!!!
Thanks Melody! I needed a motherly hug right now. Almost 25 year olds still need mommies too! Hug back!
Hi Bridgette, sorry we didn't get to meet up last week, looks like you were there until the 6th and we were there the 7-8. Definitely in October though!
I know what you're going through. I moved out from my mom's home in Michigan to Arizona when I was 24; I had stayed at home to go to college so this was my first time leaving home. It was fun, sad, exciting, all that!! But that was 22 years ago this month, and I know you'll be fine. It just takes time. I remember that soon after I moved into my 1st apartment, I got strep throat! I think I called my mom every day, probably more than once a day. I needed her to come take care of me!!!

Then I met my DH 6 months after moving there and as they say, the rest is history!!
I know I saw that you were there at the same time as me at first, but then I moved my trip forward. Oh well, you're right, I'll see you in October! Thanks for sharing your story as well. It really helps make me feel better.
Bridgette, I'm not that far from you now that you're in SB (maybe 30 minutes at the most?). If you ever need anything or someone to talk/hang out with, I'm here in the 805! PM me if you need to!!
I'm going to PM you in a sec! I thought about you when I drove through Oxnard on the way to Disneyland on the 2nd and again when I went to orientation last Wednesday and had to drive to almost Oxnard territory to find a Target. Doesn't it figure that I get over $400 in Target gift cards for graduation and the closest one is in Ventura? I still have $120ish left, but I'll probably save that for clothes. I love Target's clothes!
To echo what everyone else said, just about 34 years ago I went away to college and met my roomie who eventually became my sister. She was the one who visited this past weekend. There's an old saying--when one door closes another opens--and that is definitely true. Just hang in there--it will get better once you start school today and start meeting other people. It's hard to be out of your comfort zone but so worth it in the long run. (P.S.--I'm Episcopalian too! But BAAAADDDDDD and haven't been to church in several years)
You're so right about the door close/open quote. It's just really hard to put your foot through the door sometimes. I'll be okay once I have projects other than unpacking to think about. You're so sweet to be the one comforting
me. And don't worry about the bad Episcopalian thing.... after all, we're Episcopalian. We have real wine in church and are the most liberal Christian denomination. I call us rebel-Catholics. Our services are very similar, but waaaay more laid back. I usually never go to church unless its Christmas, Ash Wednesday, or Easter, but I did sing in that choir and went every Sunday for about 5 + years. I thought that by going, it would be easier for me to cope with everything and it is. Almost everyone there is much older than me but they're all so wonderful! I'd almost prefer it that way. I usually can't stand people my age. The parishioners who sat in the same pew as me invited me into the courtyard for coffee and another lady showed me all of the tables out there. There is a table of offering where the members who grow fruits and veggies at home bring some and let you take it home. The woman was so funny she grabbed a handful of baby lemons and shoved them into my hands. Maybe I'll make a delicious drink with them or something.
This is really a great group of ladies, and you have been a wonderful and welcome addition to it. :grouphug
That would be nice. It's nice to be able to meet up with someone from the group now and then. I hope it works out that you two are able to do that.
Thanks

and I know it will work out. I'm sending the PM soon!
Thanks Linda. We need all the pixie dust we can get.
Pixie dust from me too!
Hey everyone

.
I've been a little busy lately watching my nephews. My sisters MIL had a heart attack and usually watches them most of the time. She's stable now, but still in the hospital until they finish tests and decide if they need to do surgery. I was only watching them twice a week before she got sick. They've also been spending the night here and there because of my sisters & BIL's funky work hours.
It's just really hard to get anything done when you're watching 5 kids. I'm all for helping out in times of need, but she really needs to put them in daycare. I still have to concentrate on looking for a job & keeping up with daily tasks around the house & it's becoming overwhelming.
I know if it will be long term my sis will put them in daycare, but for now she is enjoying not having to pay. I thought about asking her for money, but I'm just not good at that sort of thing. Even when people owe me, I never ask.
Just wanted to check in with you all when I had a free minute. Hope everyone is well.
Katie you're so sweet to do that. You have such a loving and caring heart!
Feels like its been so long since I have been on. Its been so busy around here. The town next to us had their little festival this weekend. My daughter Katelyn was in the parade as one of her last requirements of being Miss Golddust (our city festivals royalty). We are also getting ready for cheer camp and will be hosting the overnighter again and driving them to Ellensburg this weekend. The following week is my son's baseball camp. I think we will finally have a breather after that and then I have my surgery on the 11th of August and out of work for about 5 weeks. Feels like we just started summer!
If you don't come back before then, I'll be praying for your surgery and speedy recovery on the 11th of August!
I am soooo in the planning mood! I really would like some room mates though. I am willing to stay either GCH or Howard Johnsons! Can't wait for February!
I even ordered my tie dyed shirt today! LOL
I like the one on disneyshopping.com!
You are way organized! LOL
I'm jealous, I
SO am not! I have been watching Harry Potter with envy. I can't help but think, "if I only had a magic wand that worked..."
Oh, I SO want to try and make a Mickey tie dye shirt, maybe we need to have a get together so we can make shirts together!
Maybe that's what I can try to keep busy... making Mickey tie dies. I'm crafty!
A while back..in March, I mentioned divorcing DH. Well, I am filing tomorrow for divorce. We tried for the 4th time to make it work and it isn't. He is already moved out and I am talking to a lawyer. I know I ask for prayers a lot...but if I could just get a few. This has been a tough time in our home. I appreciate it so much.
Stop that! There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking for prayers.... ask away because I truly believe in the power of prayer. It's gotten me through many binds and I'm not a holy roller. I am going to church now, but still. I will pray for your strength as you go through the divorce proceedings. Stay strong and know you have so much support here!
As luck would have it, I'll be at Disneyland on Thursday. When and where is the party?
Sending you a PM!
