*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

Miss Beth is getting a bathing suit! Yay:cool1:
Cristabel, I get the two piece tankini's too, I like them better than a one piece because my bum is always covered and I don't have to shave.

I have a tankini too! I love it.

Hello, Tag Fairy? Are you reading this?

I also have a couple of Lands End Tankinis. They totally lock and load me, plus they make it easier to take potty breaks!

Tankinis rock! :cool1: :dance3:

ugh..on Friday we have a potluck in our class.
There are 12 people. Any ideas of something easy?
In the classroom there is only a microwave.
I have a crockpot. Any ideas??

I am so excited that Big Brother starts tomorrow!!

Does it have to be an entree? I mean can it be an appetizer or snack?

If so, then this is a spinach dip recipe I found online that everyone I've ever made it for has loved.

Ingredients:
1 cup mayonnaise
1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
1 (1.8 ounce) package dry leek soup mix
1 (4 ounce) can water chestnuts, drained and chopped
1/2 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped
spinach, thawed and drained
1 (1 pound) loaf round sourdough bread
Directions:
1. In a medium bowl, mix together mayonnaise, sour cream, dry leek soup mix, water chestnuts and chopped spinach. Chill in the refrigerator 6 hours, or overnight.
2. Remove top and interior of sourdough bread. Fill with mayonnaise mixture. Tear removed bread chunks into pieces for dipping.

The hardest part is finding the leek soup mix. I usually buy it at Albertsons grocery store. Not sure if you have that there.
I usually go to the store and get different types of bread for dipping. You could do that, put it on a pretty platter and keep the dip cool in a small cooler until time to serve it.

Anyway, just a thought. It's also great for parties and BBQs.

I bought my swim suit. I feel totally uncomfortable in it, but who cares. LOL
I guess it's kind of like a tankini. The top is like a tank top, and the bottom is like a little skirt. :confused3 I got a matching cover up and I have flip flops that match too. :thumbsup2

Night ladies. Long day. I'm exhausted.

Yay! Please post pictures of the suit. You don't have to be wearing it if you don't want to ;)

Good night

Debbielouwho.. what about this easy chili con queso recipe? If you have any left you would have a great snack for the weekend.

All you need is
1 Crockpot
1 - Big box of velveeta cheese
1 can ROTEL chopped tomatoes with peppers
{If you can't find rotel, you can use pico de gaio or salsa from your grocery store, put in one or two heaping tablespoons then go from there to your flavor}

Instructions

1. Cut up cheese log and toss in crockpot. Dump in ROTEL. Heat.
2. Stir chilies into melted cheese.
3. Serve with ''crunchies'' such as tortilla or frito chips.

{I usually grill my chili's and onions and add a little fresh cilantro.. you can also cook a log of jimmy dean breakfast sausage, drain, break up then add to the crockpot of cheese}
You can't go wrong with this recipe.. and if you need to add a tiny bit of water, one of my friends adds a can of creme of mushroom soup to hers and a tablespoon of sour creme to make it go futher.

*Hugs*

Morning all.

Deb hope you find a good recipe. I have watched Big Brother since Season One but for some reason this year I am not even interested. I guess I just have way too much going on with swim and everything with Lynn. Since the regular tv has gone off the air we have been watching old stuff on dvd and I just haven't cared about regular tv. We haven't watched it all summer. You'll have to let me know if this is a good one then maybe I will watch it. ;)

Well last night we went and picked up Lynn. It was tense to say the least. We had this big long speech prepared about the rules etc but then Shane kind of chickened out on half of it on the car ride home. I just sat there and kept my mouth shut the whole time. We suggested some counseling and also the military but she is not amenable to anything. She is saying she wants to get a job and go to our local jr. college but she hasn't even finished high school. When she left town with this guy she dropped out of the continuation school and hasn't even TRIED to finish. I KNOW how she is and I think her ideas are TOTALLY unrealistic. It is NOT that she doesn't have the brains just not the motivation. I have NO problem with her going to school IF I thought she would take it seriously but I KNOW how she is. She got a D- in cooking and PE for goodness sake. She is just NOT motivated at all and we are not willing to invest in that right now. We told her that if she wants to go to school she is going to have to do it herself because she has not proven to us that she has the motivation or drive to do it. She says she wants to get a job but the last job she had she only lasted 4 hours. I just don't know it is going to be REALLY hard for her. She is so negative and not open to ANY suggestions. Every suggestion we had she shot down and basically she wants it to be her way or the highway and that just isn't going to happen. We told her that this is her last shot and reminded her that she has NOWHERE else to go if she blows this. Everyone else in the family has written her off so she needs to remember that before she does anything stupid. HOPEFULLY she has learned a lesson and after Tues if she gets on probation she will realize that there will now be consequences too if she screws up. I just think it is going to be a LONG hard road for her. I just REALLY wish we could convince her to get some counseling because she REALLY needs it.

Anyway today I have no work so I am just going to work out and do stuff round here and she is going to walk up to the shopping center and get some job apps. It SHALL be interesting that's for sure!

Anyway I hope everyone has a GREAT day! :)

:lmao:
Thank you!! I could use a little Disney magic today. An escape from the reality that is taking over right now.

Not to depress anyone, but I got my mammo results back today. Not that I understand any of what was said to me.
They found fibroid glandular density (or something like that) in both breasts and an asymmetrical nodular area. What that means, I have no clue but it's freaking me out. All I know is they want me to go back for spot compressions and an ultrasound.
I was so upset I started crying on the phone like an idiot. Especially when she started giving me names and numbers of breast surgeons to contact.

My mom had breast cancer and this has just got me all upset. I am only posting this because it's all new to me and if any of you understand any of this or have been through anything like it, please shoot me a PM. I'd really appreciate any info or advice.
Thanks. :grouphug:

Hi Beth,
I know I am late and everyone has already said the same things but I wanted to let you know that I was thinking about you and sending a big hug.
My Gram always had these issues and always had to have second and third looks and tests every year. Nothing ever showed up. She's 86 now and all healthy breast tissue is still intact, although somewhat challenged by the gravitational pull of the earth.

I am so darn proud of you for sucking it up and braving the tankini! I too am a tankini wearer, and I love to swim with my kiddos. I hope you have a wonderful time celebrating the girls birthday!

Happy Thursday to Everyone!

Good morning ladies!! Just a quickie post to say hello.

I was up way to early again, 6 a.m.! Why? Heck if I know. :confused3

But that's ok. I am excited because today is Lindsey and Hannah's birthday and we have lots of fun plans and a hotel room booked for tonight. Gonna play tourist. :thumbsup2

So I won't be on today but I'll see ya'll sometime tomorrow. Have a wonderful day. :goodvibes

Good morning girls!

Both recipes look yummy!!! I make the same type of spinach dip, but I use Knorr Vegetable Soup mix. It's much easier to find.

Kelly--i hope Lynn can get herself together and move forward with her life.

Beth--congrats on the swim suit. Have a great day with your kids!!

My back is giving me troubles again, so I am being very careful with it. The last thing I need is for it to go out again.

Beth have a GREAT time today and Happy Happy birthday to your girls! I can't wait for Katy to meet them (and myself too of course :) ) in Oct!! Katy is 9 also although she will be almost 10 by then but practically the same age ;) I KNOW you guys will have a BLAST!!

And thanks so much Tina. I agree. I just wish there was some type of program that could help her get back on her feet but what few programs there WERE in this state are gone because of our stupid budget. They have closed down a LOT of those things. It is SO sad because these troubled kids REALLY need stuff like that!

But thanks for the good thoughts and I hope she does too! :)

Quick in and out before i'm gone for the day:goodvibes

Kelly .. here are two links for the California GED...they are informative.

Beth.. hugs... have the bestest time!

Tracey.. i am really enjoying your trip report! more more!

Tina ... oohh i'm so sorry your back is hurting you. Be sure to put your shoes on each morning..it helps support you.. and lift from the knees.. rest.. and have 3 grape popsicles through the day, disney doctor orders

Everyone..if you could keep CheryL in your thoughts.. her dear kitty Chase is not doing well at all... let's just send both some love.

Be good and have a happy day:grouphug:

Dawn thanks so much for the GED info. Unfortunately Lynn has to be within 60 days of her 18th birthday or 60 days of when she WOULD have graduated had she stayed in high school. She dropped out her JR year so she still had a whole other year to go. I actually looked that up when she first dropped out but it wouldn't work for her but thank you for checking I really appreciate that :) .

And many prayers to Cheryl and her Kitty. I know how hard it is when you have a sick pet. They are so much like our children!

Good thoughts for Tina's back too! I didn't see that in the other post but I can empathize with that as well. Hope you start feeling better! :)

Happy Thursday to Everyone!

Beth, I'm so sorry I missed this. Biggest of hugs to you. I have confidence that everything will be okay for you. Keep us up to date on how it's going and vent/rant here any time.

Have a great bday with the girls. I, too, have tankinis. I find they fit better and are more attractive than the one piece suits.

Hugs again, Michelle.

Kelly, I'm so sorry to hear about the Lynn thing again. You have been through so much with her. I would make counseling a requirement not try to negotiate with her. Maybe just being there and knowing that she has to go will give her the ability to take advantage of having the counselor.

Hi everyone-

first of all thank you to Dawn and AmySue who have been great supports the past few days.

Chase died this morning--I probably should have had him euthanized yesterday or the day before, but waited and took him in to do it today. We got there and the doctor said given his breathing it would just be a few minutes. So we wrapped him in a towel and hugged and petted and talked to him and a few minutes later he was gone.

He had an uncomfortable last night (for all of us) but he died on his own terms. I'll miss him but I'm glad he's in pet heaven. He was a sweet kitty and everyone who met him loved his piercing blue eyes and funny personality.
