*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

Callie...just think...you already have a bunch of Washington friends! I have a dh who is really strong and I can loan him to you if you need any help on the washington end!

Sarah

PS. Glad all the Vegas ladies are back...now back to the Disney planning!

Afternoon all. I had done this huge post addressing everyone earlier and then it didn't post. :(

I don't think I have the energy to try to re-invent it but just wanted to say welcome back to all our Vegas Divas, congrats Cheryl that is awesome!

Callie I am sorry for all your troubles and hope things look up for you!

Beth Happy Anniversary!!

I can't remember what else I said but hope everyone has a great day and we are off to brave the awful heat for swim tonight. Thanks for all the well wishes for the Blevins family!

Oh and Dawn to add to your question as you guys all probably are sick of me mentioning, you were asking about anyone having any trips, well as you know we are going to D.C. but now we have added a few days in New York. I don't know if everyone knew that part. I am REALLY excited about that. I have ALWAYS wanted to go to both places and we probably won't be able to do EVERYTHING we want to do in both places but we will certainly get a good taste.

We plan to see the Empire State bldg and Liberty Island/Ellis Island for sure and then probably traipse around times square and central park and possibly even see a show on Broadway if it works out and not too expensive (they have those last min tix). I am SO excited! Plus I have ALWAYS wanted to see our nations cap. We won't get to go to ALL the museums since we don't have enough time but we will go to the important ones and hopefully get to see most of the monuments.

And since mom can't go with us now she wants to take 2 days and take the girls and I and spend the night in San Francisco and go see the King Tut exhibit. So we are thinking about doing that in a few weeks. So that is my plans until Oct when we are going on the halloween trip! Can't WAIT for that one!!!! :)

And P.S. Hope you are feeling better!! ((hugs))

I hope everyone is having a wonderful first of the week! My trip is getting so much better :thumbsup2 I'm becoming less and less the size of a bus... I just quit taking the steroids the swelling was too bad. The hives are GONE :cool1: Now we're at the Grand Canyon and I have internet again so I wanted to post some pictures.

The Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, TX. My poor feet were purple :(

A local diner in Tucumcara, TX. It reminded us of Pulp Fiction. (That's my brother, Troy, by the way)

The side of the Blue Swallow Motel in Tucumcara, TX. It was this funky refurbished 1930's Route 66 Motel. It had car ports with mural paintings (I'll show one in a sec) and I got a funny photo of me "grabbing" James Dean, but didn't think it would be appropriate for here.

I'm going to go catch up now! :wave2:

Oh Bridgette, big hugs! I've moved so many times in my life and have enjoyed every single one of them. It is sad to leave, but so exciting about what the future holds. I drove from Chicago to Tucson in 2004 by myself (well I had my pug and cat with me!), and we did great. My first stop was Tulsa also! We stayed at a Hampton Inn, and I ate at a Texas Roadhouse. The first time I ever ate in a restaurant by myself. You will discover things about yourself that you never knew, and you will build pride that you never knew you lacked. I'm sorry your nerves are so bad. Try your best to enjoy the change and live in the moment. You will be fine, you already have a boatload of friends! You should collect some of our phone numbers so that you have people to call in case you need anything. That might give you an added peace of mind.

You are all so sweet to me! Thanks for all of the awesome advice, Heather. I didn't overdo the meds and I haven't taken an antihistamine in 2 days! I have thought about all of you often on this trip. I have friends to look forward to in my future on the West Coast! I actually won't shut about the DisDivas sometimes... my brother just laughs and thinks it's wonderful.

Hi ladies. I need to vent and I can't do it on Facebook.

After 12 years of living in this house and 19 years in Phoenix, I honestly don't feel like I have any real friends here. I have put out pleas for help on this moving day for weeks. The one and only person who agreed to help was my brother in law, and that was mainly because my father in law told him he had to help. The moving truck arrived this morning and of course we get the call that Dan's brother hurt his back and can't come. His back was fine last night when we called to confirm that he was coming.

We have a piano and a refrigerator and a couple really heavy dressers. And I have Dan and his 78 year old father who is having back surgery in a couple weeks here to try to do it all themselves.

I just want to cry. And then I want to say good riddance to this place and all the people who obviously don't care one little bit for us.

Thanks for letting me vent,

Callie

Callie, trust me I totally know how you feel! Last Friday when my brother and dad arrived at my apartment to move me out there was a HUGE dysfunctional family blowout and everyone was yelling curse words at everyone else. It was horrible. Nothing like that has ever happened because we're all so close, but I guess that's just how the men handled their emotions about me moving? Also, my friends aren't who I thought they were. Only two friends from school even showed up at my going away party. Chin up, you'll have new wonderful beginnings shortly! I'm always here if you need someone to vent to!

NEW NEWS!!! I officially have an undergraduate degree! My overall GPA ended up being a 3.431. I am not going to lie... I totally BSed my way through this past summer semester. For my final project for one class I turned it in 1/4th of the way finished and she felt so bad for me that she gave me a 17 out of 20. Then my independent study class... I made everything up at 3am last Friday after having packed up all of my things. I got a B in the class. I was so over it. .... "This house is clean." (in my best little lady from Poltergeist voice)

I am so so so behind. I saw on FB that the ET rates are out for the trip. I know I'm down to room with some divas...I just can't remember who. I just wanted to check in to see if we're doing HOJO's or onsite? I just couldn't remember. I feel so lost since I am not on the disboards as much as I am on FB.

Callie...I hope today went ok for you guys. I couldn't believe what I was reading this morning on FB. It was like the same thing that happened to us. Funny how EVERYONE disapears on moving day isn't it? Won't be long and you'll be on your way to new and "cooler" things.

If someone can PM me info on the rooming situation I'd appreciate it....just wondering if I should make a reservation for HOJO's or not. So out of the loop here.

Have a great time on your get away with Rueben. I saw the Lion King in NYC, and loooooooooooved it. We plan on seeing it in Vegas in October when we are coming for the Barret Jackson Car Auction!! I hope this time when we come, I will have a few minutes to meet up with you Vegas gals!:grouphug:
I loved it too!! It was great. Long at two and a half hours, but so good. I hope we get to met up in October too!

Just make it in a cooler time and I think you'll get even more gals coming. We missed you, Beth!!! Happy Anniversary!!!!!
I'm so happy you are seeing The Lion King (it is your first time, isn't it?)
Yep, first time. It was spectacular.
The weather wasn't too bad when they were here. They lucked out as it's super hot today. 108 in the shade, and 115 in the direct sun. :scared1:

Thank you and everyone else for the anniversary wishes. :goodvibes

A lady with 2 kids an infant and maybe 7 yo, her husband gave her something to calm her nerves on the flight. Anyways she was non responsive on the plane. They were not sure what was wrong with her. She was talking, the only info they got was from the daughter. It was pretty scary, no one knew what was wrong with her. When we landed they had people at the gate waiting to talk to her and medics waiting.
Thankfully she seemed to be ok when they wheeled her down to baggage claim.
Yikes, how scary. That's why I never take any of those relaxer type of pills. I'm scared how I'll react. :confused3

Beth - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! That is great you & Ruben are going to see The Lion King....and stay at a hotel
;) :lmao:
:lmao: Perfect!

We spent this weekend in San Diego - Sea World on Sat and the Zoo on Sun.
Fun! I really love it in San Diego. It has a special place in my heart as that's where Ruben and I took our first "alone" vacation after high school.

Hi ladies!

So happy to see the Vegas Divas are back.
Hi there!! I might have missed it, but how's Brent??

My big Vegas news is that the last night we went downtown and as we were walking into Binions for dinner a penny slot machine "called" to me--so after dinner I went and played it while everyone else went to watch the Fremont Street experience--and I won $850! woo hoo!
Whooooo hooooo!! You go girl!

I just want to cry. And then I want to say good riddance to this place and all the people who obviously don't care one little bit for us.

Thanks for letting me vent,

Callie
Oh Callie, that sucks. I'm sorry. Not that it helps but if you were close to me I'd totally help you move, even in 108 degree temps!!

Hello Ladies,

Did anyone else notice that our dates for Feb are now open for the Entertainment Card Rate?????? All except the last night, March 1 :woohoo: :woohoo:
AWESOME!! Thanks Theresa for posting this info!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

I just wanted to thank everyone for the prayers for my family. My Mom's work hours got bumped back up to 35 hours/week and she got hired for a part time job.
Oh that's great news Courtney! Good for her. :goodvibes

drive by...

I think I remember us discussing wanting to stay in building one...is that what everyone is booking? Thanks!
That's what I'm booking. I really prefer Bldg. 1

OK - so the entertainment card rate is up at HOJO! So - should we be making reservations? Does anyone need a roomie? Are most staying at HOJO again? (I know - so many questions!:rotfl:) I am also up for staying onsite if someone needs an onsite roomie. Am open either way!:cool1:
Honestly, I would suggest everyone who's even thinking of staying at HoJo book it now just to have and then if cheaper onsite rates come up later you can cancel with no penalty. That's what I'm doing.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful first of the week! My trip is getting so much better :thumbsup2 I'm becoming less and less the size of a bus... I just quit taking the steroids the swelling was too bad. The hives are GONE :cool1:
Whew! What a relief for you! Looks like you are having fun. Great pics. I love a road trip, they are so fun. Do y'all have lots of yummy snacks and good music? That's the best part after all. ;)

Hi Janelle!

On the front page I have you rooming with:
Stacie(lee)
Heather
Katie
Janelle
Callie (tentative)

I know Stacie made a reservation already so I'm thinking you are good to go.

It is still so far out, it's hard to say for sure at this point who's staying where or with who. Things change, you know how that is. To be safe, I'm booking a room with the ET rate and then is something better comes up, or we go with onsite rooms, then it can be canceled with no penalty. Hope that helps!!

Thanks for the suggestion Beth. I am going to call in the morning and book a room.:thumbsup2 Hopefully I will pick up a roommate somewhere along the way!:)

I can't believe my laptop is dying on me! We are leaving for our 3 week trip to Ohio in a month and this is an expense I didn't need. But there is no way I will be able to go 3 weeks without a computer. I love my iPhone but I still need a computer. I am hoping my dh can at least get it up one more time tonight so I can get all my pictures off of it. :badpc:

Hola chicas!

I still have no read back...just skimmed. :rolleyes1

Bridgette, love the pics! You look just like my SIL! It has been bothering me for awhile...I couldn't figure out who you looked like...but now I know! She is so beautiful and so are you! :bride:

Beth--I have been wanting to see that Lion King show FOREVER! You lucky girl. Boise does not get any good shows.

Dawn---I had no idea you were sick :guilty:. I am hoping you feel better REAL soon, sweetie!

Well, I guess if I had read back I would have more to say. lol

Thank you Beth...I completely forgot about the first page listing that. ding dong I am! I am sorry...thanks for posting that info though. Oh and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!

Callie...I am so sorry to hear you all got shafted on moving day. And your poor FIL. I hope he is okay after all that lifting.

I must say we have been there, done that. There have been many times we have been disappointed by so-called friends. I think that is why we keep to ourselves for the most part. We have been used WAY too many times and then when we need anything suddenly no one is there.

My brothers have done that to us. And I love them to death...but yeah, even they have failed to follow through.

We are also LDS (Mormon) and we are continously asked by the leaders to help no matter what. Doing service for others is one of the most important doctrines of our faith. But in our ward, no one cares. That is why I don't ever go to church anymore. They preach to be neighborly..but cannot even take their own advice. Mind you...not all wards are like this. It is sad...but people disappoint. I tell my mom and Brent all the time that you all (my invisible friends :rotfl:) are better friends to me than most of my friends here.

Now I am depressed.:lmao:I am ready to move to Arizona now, please.

Callie - :grouphug: I'm so sorry this day was made tougher by people flaking out on you. I'm glad you're moving.

:grouphug: Big Hugs for everyone.. i missed you all.

Thanks for the sweet wishes..i had 2 treatments today and some medicine.. i'll go back on wednesday.
:

I hope you are feeling better?

))

You must have a slice of NY pizza - John's is a good chain, on almost every block. The last min tix are a great deal and Broadway is hurting, so go enjoy a real Broadway show!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful first of the week! My trip is getting so much better :thumbsup2 I'm becoming less and less the size of a bus... Brother is cute. You look so much better!

Hello Ladies,

Did anyone else notice that our dates for Feb are now open for the Entertainment Card Rate?????? All except the last night, March 1 :woohoo: :woohoo:

That's great!

Bridgette - I'm glad the swelling is gone! :cool1:
Callie - I'm sorry you didn't have any help. I would have so helped if I was in your area. I'm just thankful that my church truly knows the meaning of community. They are helping a new member at our church to move to our area. He and his family live in Sacramento! My dad is considering driving up to Sac and leaving my mom at my aunt's house for a few days so he can drive a truckload down here. It's a good thing you will have WA friends!

Dawn - Hey girlfriend! I'm excited for next year's scavvy. I'm going to "study" by go to DL and just admiring the small details! I really want to win next year!

Beth - I'm glad you guys had a good time. I really want to see TLK on stage but it's all a matter of money and location. It doesn't show out here much, or at least I've never heard of it playing nearby.

In reference to HoJo's, what are the names of the two different rooms we have stayed in? I like the fact that the rooms we stayed in during our 2008 meet were larger. What's the price difference between the two?

Since I'm a part of the greeting committee, I'm trying to come up with ideas for next year.

Yay...the girls are back in town! I've seen a couple of pics from the Vegas trip and it looks like you all were having a great tim!

Love and Light for everyone.. i ended up getting really sick at the end of the trip with my asthma and i'm still feeling really bad.
Dawn - I hope you are 100% soon!

We watched TV when we got home. It was a really good show.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

:happytv:

Hello ladies!!!!! I've missed you all so much! I can't believe I was off line for a whole week!!

Tonight Ruben and I are going to see The Lion King. It was our 16 year anniversary yesterday and we are celebrating this weekend.

You were missed around here too! Happy 16th Anniversary! That is awesome and I hope you enjoyed Lion King. I've seen it twice and have enjoyed it both times.

Hi girls!
I got home late, late last night. I had a long drive home from Spokane last night.

How is your knee?

another good morning drive-by!

My big Vegas news is that the last night we went downtown and as we were walking into Binions for dinner a penny slot machine "called" to me--so after dinner I went and played it while everyone else went to watch the Fremont Street experience--and I won $850! woo hoo!

Yay Cheryl! And who says you can't win anything on the penny slot machines!

Did Bella survive ok without her mommy?

That totally sucks and it is so amazing how everyone is scarce when you need to move. I am so thankful for my mom and dad because they were there for every move the past 7 years but they can't lift a lot either but at least they were there. I hired movers the last time to load the truck and then Bob thought that he had all the help we needed on the CA end to unload...nope! Everyone was busy that day so luckily one of his neighbors was curious as to how we were going to move all of my stuff into Bob's house and we wrangled him into helping with the heavy things.

I hope you find that kind of help when you arrive in WA.

BTW, we loved Vancouver. Stanley Park was amazing, we spent half a day there. Shopped on Robson St, ate dinner at a place next to our hotel called Joey's. It was really good and the service was wonderful. We had perfect weather and walked around quite a bit. Everyone is very excited about the Olympics coming, the city is spending a fortune preparing. The hotel they built down on the water just for the media is beautiful! And gas is over $1 a liter, wow, expensive! And we were facinated by the streetlights how they blink while green if a pedestrian has pushed the cross button. Lots of traffic - foot and vehicle - all through the town.

We loved Vancouver too and we want to go back! Isn't Stanley Park the best?? I wish we had something like it near where I live. I loved everything about the city and I found the people very friendly.

Glad to hear that your hives are better and that your trip is going well! We drove a U-haul from CO to CA last Sept. and I know how tiring it can be but it looks like you are having fun sightseeing along the way! Did you happen to drive through Colorado at all?

I am enjoying my time in Denver but I've caught a cold which is slowing me down some. I really hope my cold is gone by tomorrow because I don't want to give it to my mom and I really want to spend some time with her before her surgery on Thurs. because I leave early on Friday morning. I love spending time with my sister and my niece and nephews! I am going out for drinks with some of my coworkers tomorrow night which will be fun! The time is going too quickly but I am missing Mr. CA and can't wait to see him on Friday!:lovestruc Life would be perfect if I could live near my family with Mr. CA but that's not going to happen so I'll just keep SW airlines in business.

Hi to everyone!

I called and made a reservation, and she made it through March 2, so that if they ent rate comes up, I'm covered. I did the NQQ1 room, 2 queens, building 1, Disney view, $79.

That's what I am planning on booking. I liked that room so much better than the rooms we had this past year.
